So since my early teens through my early 20s now I’ve been going through a lot of health problems. They are typical things you would expect like acne and weight, but then other more severe stuff that I won’t go into detail about. I was literally doing all the right things to take care of myself, but it felt like I was going backwards! Doctors, my parents— they all kept telling me if I lost weight, I would reverse all these problems. I was doing cardio 6 days a week and 3 of those days also strength training. I was eating healthy foods in moderation, seeing a dermatologist, taking medication etc. Finally, FINALLY—- I’ve been seeing a new doctor recently. She decided to run some more in depth lab work, did MRIs and CT scans. Turns out I have a small tumor on my pituitary gland. That’s literally the gland that controls all metabolic processes in the body and hormone production. My cortisol level is 7x the high normal amount. I have Cushings disease. I’m only familiar with how terrible this disease is through what I learned how it affects dogs in vet tech school but I’ve done research on it’s effect in people now to. So everything I’ve been doing was right and it wasn’t me. This stupid little growth on my brain has been holding me back for 11-12 years. So I went and saw a neurosurgeon the other day and we scheduled surgery May 13, which means I start to get my life back and I’m so happy about this.

I'm glad that the doctors were able to find out the issue and you're very brave for getting brain surgery. I wish you the best of luck and hope everything goes fine and you can live life normally.

Bless good doctors. I'm sick of how often they just disregard people (especially afab) and diagnose them with either fat, on their period, or crazy instead of considering anything else. They should know by now that if the patient is exercising and not overeating the weight gain is something else when its a symptom of so many other (possibly even deadly) diseases that are treatable.
