Out of all the villains in the series, which of them to you find to be the most compelling and/or well written? Personally I came to really enjoy Ashfur's characterization in TBC and have a newfound appreciation for him back in PoT. He's much more complex than people realize and it's enjoyable how absolutely awful he is. Bringing him back was one of the better writing decisions the team has made in a long time, imo.
Runner-up would probably have to be Tigerstar I, who's a classic.

Curlfeather and Berryheart are pretty well written tbh. I like their character arcs.
Tigerstar 1 was definitely a good villain to start the series off with. And end the original series with in TLH.
Darktail was also a really good villain. Shame they killed him off so early in AVOS.

Tigerstar I will always be my fav. The OG classic big bad of this series. I know people think he's cliche but I think he got some pretty solid and straighforward writing. Ashfur is in second place. I hated him for going to StarClan in PoT despite his crimes but was glad they brought his character back in TBC to properly end it like he deserved. And he did became very fun to read about as the jilted lover turned demonic ex from heaven lol. He's been iconic for the wrong reasons in the fandom in the past but now deserves his fame for sure after they fixed that "he loved too much" bs excuse. Darktail had so much potential and a pretty good backstory imo. But he got ruined by first killing him off too soon in AVoS, then permanently in TBC (although he did deserve it but still) and the whole "he was born evil" bs they pulled in his deadbeat dad's SE. Spoilers for ASC villains: Other villains I think are quite well-written so far have to be the three ASC ones.
Berryheart has the best backstory with her Darktail trauma right now but needs to step up her game a bit in terms of action. Which I do think will happen in Wind but we shall see. Still hoping her arc doesn't just end in redemption though.
Curlfeather is super interesting despite already being super dead and learning about her scheming/plotting in retrospect has been a fun twist in the story. Really hoping for a final convo between her and Frostpaw, to be honest.
Splashtail is shaping up to become an effective menace to Clan society as well. Can't wait to see what else he pulls. Even though a certain finale blurb just spoiled one major detail already...
Although it's funny how neither of these three cats got villainous/intimidating names lmao. Not that this detail detracts from their roles or anything like that.

To be honest Sol and Hawkfrost imo are the best-written villains. I feel like a good villain should always directly oppose the protag mentally and not just physically. Mentally as in the villains challenge the hero's ideals. It just always makes the villain more interesting than being a wall of muscle the hero has to push through. Sol for quite slowly tearing down Hollyleaf's faith in Starclan and feeding Jayfeather's and Lionblaze's egos. Hawkfrost for being the mirror of what Bramblefrost could become.

I like Splashtail, Curlfeather, Tigerstar, and Hawkfrost. They seem to plan steps ahead, and it takes a while before the protagonists figure them out. I like Scourge too. Plus it was cool how Sparrowfeather and Redwillow and Maggottail were all talking to Bristlefrost in the last series. Ashfur was creepy, so I guess a good villain as well.

Darktail for me. I enjoyed the majority of the scenes he was in and think the Erins really nailed his personality

Tigerstar, Hawkfrost, Brokenstar, Ashfur (in POT, not TBC), and Mapleshade. Clear Sky was well written up until the latter half of DOTC.

Love Ashfur! I like how he seemed so realistic when obsession turns negative.

Atm I'm really liking Curlfeather best. I'll get back to you on the rest when I finish rereading the entire series xx

Gotta say Sol and Hawkfrost. Both of them for their more unique personalities among the brutish other villains in the series. Honorable mention to Ashfur, who is also alright.
