You have stumbled across my den! Get ready for random ramblings! My interests are not just Warrior cats! Some other things I like: - griffins, specifically the Gryphon Insurrection book series, if I meet a member of the fandom then I would be really shocked as there are less than fifty people in it - fan of Lgballt comics - only a handful of movies, movies tend to overwhelm me so I only have a few ones I really like and will probably rewatch - Wings of Fire, Six of Crows, Nevermoor and Lightfall book series - Rubik’s cubes (I can solve up to 7 different kinds of cubes) - Pride flags (have them all memorised) I probably won’t start posting here on my own, it’ll have to take someone asking me about things to get me to post here I just thought I would make a den to rant about stuff without others having to be subjected to it all of the time!

Currently reading 1984, and it’s good, though there are aspects that are uncomfortable at the least. It’s really misogynistic? Like you would expect that from a book published in 1949 but still. Here are some of the worst parts: This one is wrong because like. Okay, you want her but she doesn’t want you, so you resort to fantasising about killing her? Okie dokie. Eeeurgh. The way his first wife was written really rubs me the wrong way. This is basically the whole page: “Katherine was a dull, average woman, with her hollow skull stuffed with the Party’s ideologies. She was quite dumb, dumber than most, with a repulsive and vulgar stupidity, but the worst thing about her was that she never was interested in sex. She would always do it either passively or resentfully. How shameful and embarrassing of her! A woman must always have sex with a man, it’s their duty. Winston is glad he left her as she was average, dumb and would not have passionate sex with him.” I mean, stuff that. Bro.. why would you tell a woman you wanted to r*pe and kill her? Then Julia was all like “oh dear, you’re so wonderful and witty!” Like. This is a joke right? Katherine again. “Winston thinks of shoving his dumb, idiotic wife off a cliff because she is so dull and stupid. Golly gosh, says Julia, I would have done it! I know, says Winston. I regret that I didn’t do it now.” Julia also once said she lived in a hostel “fillled with the stink of women. ‘How I hate women!’ She said passionately.” There are some things I’m liking about the book but I’ll put that in the next post.

I honestly didn’t know what was going on until I read a thorough review of it, lol. The world building is really dodgy. Okay, there’s Eurasia, Eastasia and Oceania? Well, what countries make up those, exactly? Idk lol. Things I liked: - Newspeak dictionary. Reminds me of the book the List by Patricia Forde. Fascinating concept. - Thought Police. Can we have more of them, please? People mention them but they’ve never showed up. I don’t even know what they do? - Syme. it was a shame how he was vaporised - the fact that kids are becoming more and more mindlessly loyal? That trope just fascinated me for some reason. Hoping we see more of that. The thing about classics is that they’re really wordy. To quote my friend, “it’s like they wrote down the draft and forgot to edit them.”

Ok I need to know has anyone watched the Prestige by Christopher Nolan. I am begging you this is my autism hyperfixation Planning on rewriting it actually, there’s a lot of misogynistic undertones. Not sure if I’m ever gonna do it though, I have a problem with motivation.

New tier lists! GryphIns: Things changed: - moved up Rybalt, Ninox, Blinky and Nighteyes. Most of them weren’t as bad as I originally thought, and I gave Nighteyes the benefit of the doubt. Poor girl. - moved down Satra. Liking her less, a bit of a b*tch really. That’s it really The Gryphon Generation: Faves that I want to ramble about: - Tera, I relate to him a lot (which is lowkey concerning but whatever) - YAMA IS A GIRLBOSS WE STAN -Anfang my autism child

Planning on reading all the classics. Here is a list of the books I have:
- 1984 - Animal Farm - Jane Eyre - The Catcher in the Rye - Great Expectations - Catch 22 - Wuthering Heights - the Wind in the Willows - to Kill a Mockingbird - Little Women
Eager to read LW and tKaM as they sound quite interesting. Also I wish I had a copy of Lord of the Flies and the Great Gatsby.

Finished 1984 and oooof He basically… gets tortured so badly he loses all resistance against the Party? And is like a hollow shell? Jesus Christ This gave me CHILLS: Like… the contrast to the start of the story, when he was writing “DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER” over and over in his diary out of rage and contempt… this messed me up My English teacher said today that older dystopian works usually have more dire endings than more modern dystopian stories, and I have to agree. Not saying the end of Mockingjay is in any way justified (I HATE that book) but it looks really cheerful compared to here. Katniss still has sanity (what’s left of it, anyway) and has Peeta. Winston doesn’t even have Julia anymore. Also, my teacher said the role of Julia in the story was basically like an object of desire and he’s right about that as well. You may think she plays a massive role in the story but at the end of the day, she’s basically just a sex toy for Winston. She has a personality, unlike Katherine, but still. Winston even said he didn’t love her in a romantic way, not like she did him.

Might start a poll or something to decide which classic to read next.
Leaning towards the Catcher in the Rye, Little Women, and to Kill a Mockingbird the most though.
