Now that the Thunder preview is out, do you think Squirrelstar will happen?
I REALLY want Squirrelstar but am like 95% convinced it won’t happen. The amount of worrying Squirrelflight does about not getting her lives, combined with her age, combined with the author’s love of tormenting her, combined with the inevitable Ivypool Super Edition in not too long, combined with Bramblestar angst, plus the juicy plot possibilities, makes me think StarClan will deny her lives.
Honestly I wish they’d have killed her with the Curlfeather dogs on the way to the Moonpool rather than have StarClan deny her. It’ll just create plot holes and inconsistencies and more Squilf torment, because there’s honestly no real reason to deny her leadership if Bramblestar gives up his. I feel like this happening might make the fandom more angry than if she just died.
They would have had her leader ceremony be the prologue if it ever happened. They can’t put it in the new Ultimate Guide because it comes out before Thunder and would spoil the suspense. The cliffhanger last book was suspicious enough; this cliffhanger for the preview just feels like confirmation. Unless the off chance that they don’t want to drop any too major bombshells before the actual book comes out (a problem they didn’t have with Snowtuft’s death in AlitM).
Thoughts?

I wouldn't be surprised if StarClan pulls some nonsense and refuses to let the switch happen. Some dumb message saying "we can't do anything until Tigerstar is removed from RiverClan, and RiverClan has a proper leader".

Saying no cause I realllyyyy don't want Squirrelstar to happen.
But considering Leafpool was telling Bramblestar the same "follow your heart" nonsense, it wouldn't make much sense to suddenly have Starclan turn them away.
Praying that the Erins do something interesting for once and reject Squirrelflight like they did Nightstar.

I doubt it'll happen, but I won't be surprised if it does.

Eh, I suppose Starclan did go "how could you do this" at the end, with the trial and everything. If it's one thing they're good at, it's being hypocrites I suppose.

I'm still extremely on the fence about whether or not it will actually happen; it easily feels like it could go both ways. I know StarClan refusing could make for interesting writing, but it's still not gonna stop my immediate reaction from being MAD. Bramblestar is obviously dreading the idea of having to continue to be leader for who-knows-how-much-longer; pls just let him retire, StarClan.

No chance. And if it does happen she'll only be leader until ASC 6.

I'd be surprised if it actually did, given how the chapter presented itself.

What if Squirrelflight actually gets her lives but has to temporarily move to RiverClan to stop Tigerstar’s shenanigans? He will not be happy about that though. And Bramblestar will still have to continue leading until she returns.

We'll just have to wait and see (in other words, I don't know).

I don't think so and I hope not. But love my Squilf though <3 She deserves to rest just like Bramblestar. I could see Squirrelflight getting her nine lives and becoming Squirrelstar temporarily though but then step down by the end of ASC after Tigerstar and Splashtail have been dealt with (seperately, since this is an opposite sides issue and Splashtail has yet to be openly villainous or at least even antagonistic, but the Wind blurb said as much).

I've thankfully become confident that Squirrelstar either isn't happening or is going to be a short term thing with the new reveals in Thunder. We already know that Ivypool is slated for a Super Edition that takes place in the latter half of this arc;now, the Thunder preview has revealed that Squirrelflight has appointed her deputy. I think one plus one will make two here, and that Ivypool's Super Edition will cover a turbulent rise to power in the wake of the power vacuum that Squirrelflight's and Bramblestar's decisions have led to. I am personally feeling pretty relieved. I wouldn't exactly call myself Ivypool's strongest soldier, but I think she easily has it over most of the ThunderClan population. It was refreshing to realize that Lionblaze has seemed to realize that he isn't a good fit for leader, too, which will mean less drama from him.
