Jasmineheart laughed, imagining it in her head. The two of them, sitting close as they made faces over the taste of fish. "I think I would like that. Even if we both hate the fish. Having you there would make it special." she mewed, looking down shyly. Eclipsesky flicked his tail as he gathered up the scraps of unused herbs. "Palegaze has Beanpaw to teach, he's helping me all he can but Beanpaw is his priority. I know the basics of tunneling but I will never get formal training like you will. I'm sure there's a lot that you know that I don't. After all, if you're going to talk about my kin, your mother and father are both exceptional tunnelers." "I felt it too, the weight of their deaths on my shoulders like I delivered their killing blows." Sagefoot mewed, voice hollow. "It just made me want to push everyone to be more comfortable in the tunnels though. They had no way of knowing which way was safe or which way would lead them to us. They entered blindly and unfortunately it cost them." Siltpath's fur grew warm at her words, his eyes owlishly wide for a moment as he processed it. He would make it special? He had always found himself to be anything but special, but... she thought he would be? He felt himself stammer, before he offered a shy yet kittish smile. "You really think that I would make it special? I should be saying that about you! You make everything special, way more than I could." Juniperpaw looked conflicted at that, her eyes flitting to the side as she shuffled her paws. "That's the thing. They're both so... so good! And respected, and important. I know they say I wouldn't, but I felt like all I did was embarrass them. What Windclan cat gets chomped on by a rabbit?" She mumbled, feeling her fur prickle again with embarrassment. "I fear that the more we push, the more they push back." Stonepath admitted with a silent frown, his voice soft with a tired sort of acceptance. "All they'll notice is that cats died, not that they ran into the wrong tunnel. I thought that Swiftstar's attempt to have crossover teaching would work, but it hasn't as well as I hoped." He closed his eyes. "I just hope that Mudpath and Russetpelt know that above or below the tunnels, it would have ended the same. Nothing can ever match a Wind Vortex."

Jasmineheart felt her face warm as Siltpath spoke, "Perhaps we make things special for each other then. I like you quite a lot Siltpath. Probably more than I've ever liked another cat before."
Eclipsesky snickered, genuine amusement sparkling in his eyes. "Just about every clan member you can think of Juniperpaw. I promise you, I treated your mother and father for bites just the same as you. It's just a part of Windclan life. There is nothing to be ashamed of. If I had been in the tunnels more when I was your age I'm sure I would have been as well. I've got lots of time for it to happen still. Will you patch me up in return?"
"You're right." Sagefoot mumbled. "They'll only resent us more if we push to far. That's the last thing I want. To... make another Meadowbrook."

Siltpath's eyes widened, before he shuffled his paws and returned the sentiment. "Well, that's good then, because I've liked you for a while too. Back when you got your Warrior name, and I was still an apprentice, I thought you were the prettiest cat in the whole Clan. And I uh... I still do." He admitted softly, giddy that she seemed to feel the same way about him. "I don't know how to patch anyone up." Juniperpaw mewed softly, knowing that Eclipsesky had a point, but not liking to admit that she was wrong. Even so, she looked a bit guilty. "I'm not a medicine cat, or, well, not trained like you were. I don't think I'd be firm enough to be even that." She murmured. "She had an anger inside of her that would have festered no matter who tried to help or stop her." Stonepath assured, his eyes growing pained yet stern as he thought of his former Clanmate and Tunneler. She had been so skilled, with so much potential, and it always stung him that she had thrown it all away, and had taken Beetleclaw away from him and Grasslight. He shook his head slowly. "The best we can do is make sure that her kits don't feel like the Clan is against them, like Meadowbrook felt half the Clan was. It starts in the nursery. We can keep the peace with kindness, and love."

Jasmineheart tried to hide her bashful grin at Siltpath's statement. "When you were an apprentice! Starclan, I've been making you wait for ages then." she giggled. "If you ask me a certain question, my answer will be yes you know."
"Alright." Eclipsesky relented with a nod, "I'll leave the patching up to Dawnshadow, but perhaps it wouldn't hurt for all of our clanmates to learn basic healing skills. You never know when a little bit of cobwebs and marigolds will save a clanmate's life."
Sagefoot glanced toward the nursery with a sigh, "I know Swiftstar has made it one of his goals to keep them happy and safe. They seem to be so far but I know some of our clanmates don't look at them kindly. I spoke with Clovekit the other sunrise. She actually has interest in becoming Dawnshadow's apprentice. I think that would be a great thing for her."

Or… if you’d like to do me the enormous honor of possibly considering being mates with me?” Siltpath pulled as much of his confidence in to ask the question, though he jittered with nerves. “Well… I wouldn’t mind learning a bit, if I’m allowed to.” Juniperpaw mewed softly, a part of her wanting to be able to help her Clan more by preventing injury if the medicine cats were absent or busy. “Is that allowed?” “The Clan would do well to remember that some of the darkest Warriors came from some of our most loyal. My grandfather was more dedicated than any cat I know. Yet it was his younger daughter who destroyed many of my other kin. Any cat can become hateful.” Stonepath mused, recalling the stories he was told of the powerful aunt that he thankfully never had to meet. He flicked his ears, voice softening. “That makes me content, knowing Clovekit wants to take that path. Starclan keeping her safe and close, what more could I ask for?”

"I think I would love to be mates with you Siltpath." Jasmineheart mewed, reaching over to touch her nose to his cheek for the first time.
Eclipsesky looked unsure, flicking his tail a bit nervously. "I don't know. Perhaps I will bring it up with Swiftstar and Sagefoot. I um.. doubt I would be able to lead the lessons so really Dawnshadow would have to agree to it to. But I think it would benefit the whole clan."
"I thought so too." Sagefoot murmured, "If she has such a connection to Starclan, there is no way she can be influenced by the darkness of her mother. I do have to say, I am getting worried for my younger siblings. Fireblaze has always shown resentment toward me and my littermates but Goldheart has become bitter after Patchfire's passing too. I am worried in their states they may be easily targeted by the dark forest."

Siltpath gave a goofy grin, before he turned his head to touch his muzzle lightly to hers, hoping that he was doing this right. "I'm the luckiest cat in the Clan then! I promise, I'll do all I can to make you happy." "Dawnshadow does have to do alot on her own right now. I hear that Clovekit's been poking around her den, but she still has a few moons before she becomes an apprentice. So... I mean, I'd be happy to help, even if I can't talk to Starclan, or want to become a medicine cat, you know?" Juniperpaw admitted, a part of her wanting to stay near camp and just make her Clanmates feel better, instead of training to fight other Clans. "You think the Dark Forest will be interested in them?" Stonepath looked at his mate with concern, his eyes dark with understanding as he thought about it. It did seem that the two young Warriors were often troubled. "Do you think they may have already been influenced by them by now?"

"You already do, just keep being Siltpath and I think we'll be just fine." Jasmineheart murmured as she pressed back against him.
Eclipsesky nodded, trying not to look the mention of Clovekit made his heart involuntarily clench. She's just a kit. He reminded himself. "Being a sole medicine cat is a tough job. It would be good for Dawnshadow to have an apprentice to help her." he said carefully. "I'll speak with her soon and see if she would be up for teaching the apprentices the very basics of herbs. Maybe Clovekit could tag along and watch as well."
Sagefoot's heart skipped a beat at the thought of her siblings prowling in the place with no stars. "I hope not, but I don't want to dismiss it as a simple worry. Neither of them will talk to me, they've seem to shut out basically everyone except for each other."

"Well, I'm pretty good at being Siltpath, that's the only cat I am!" Siltpath laughed, before he found himself just enjoying her being close. He admitted with a hint of a fluster. "I'll be honest, I've never done this before! We're doing this right, right? Like, this is the usual process for when Clan cats become mates?"
"That sounds nice. Being helpful, and letting Clovekit be involved too." Juniperpaw liked the sound of that, finding it to be much kinder than simply trying to shadow the medicine cat in an attempt to be helpful. She looked at Eclipsesky. "Thank you for treating my leg. I'm sorry for the trouble."
"Do you suppose they'd speak to another cat, if you're sure they refuse to speak with you?" Stonepath asked calmly, wanting to try and find a solution as he always did when his mate was troubled. This was the last thing she needed, a stress like that.

"I don't know, how about I go ask my other mates and see." Jasmineheart teased. "I thnk we're doing it right. Neither of my littermates have mates yet, so I don't have much to go off of either."
Eclipsesky shook his head, "No trouble at all. Come find me any time Juniperpaw." he mewed with a small smile. "And don't forget what I said about tunneling! I'm sure we'll get put on a patrol together soon enough. Now go, scamper back on over to your parents and sister. I'm sure they're worried for you."
"They might, but you're my mate so they might think your motives are suspicious if you suddenly show interest in getting them to speak to you." Sagefoot mumbled with a sigh. "I wish they had more time with Swallowfeather. She could have led them back into the light, or.. made sure they never got that far into the darkness in the first place."

He had no doubt that she would be faring far worse than him. “We’ll play it by ear then. As long as you’re happy, I’m happy.” “Yeah, they probably are. They worry too much sometimes.” Juniperpaw giggled, feeling better after her talk with Eclipsesky. She treaded carefully on her bitten leg, padding towards Stonepath and Sagefoot. “To this day, I hope you know, I take so much solace in knowing that your mother didn’t let my mother go alone…” Stonepath mewed softly, a deep gratitude and pain filling his eyes. They had found Rainfeather and Swallowfeather curled up together in the aftermath of the fire, giving eachother comfort in such a terrifying moment. He had decided then that he would forever be grateful for Swallowfeather, for loving Rainfeather enough to hold her in that moment, and vice versa. He blinked the ache in his eyes away as he noticed Juniperpaw padding towards them.

The other clans have so much more prey to catch."

He trailed off, inwardly not wanting to tell Tinyflower if only for the fact that he knew she would be blunt and likely scoff something offensive. He shook his head. "Tinyflower can figure it out on her own... I don't think you and her would mesh well. I doubt you both have ever really talked much, and for that, I'm grateful." He muttered. Stonepath smiled softly, the memories of his mother filling his heart, before he focused back on their daughter. He eyed her leg with a nod of approval, seeing that it was treated. Juniperpaw looked up quickly at her mother, assuring softly. "Eclipsesky took care of it. It already feels better than before. I'll be okay."

"She's livid that Cobblepaw wanted to train as a Moor-Runner now. I don't understand why she's so mad about it, but I'm worried she might try and be difficult for him on purpose." Juniperpaw seemed to relax a bit as her mother had admitted that she too had been bitten before. She felt less embarrassed at least because of it. Even so, she gave a small hum. "Well, you don't have to coddle me over this, I promise. I'll be good as new as soon as possible. I don't want to miss Birchstep's lessons."

Rebelpaw sauntered into camp, his chin lifted high as he stifled a snicker to himself. He had worked hard during his training, but he certainly didn’t make it easy for Heathersky. He couldn’t tell if her stare was out of dislike or interest, but he responded to it boldly all the same as he turned to scamper towards her. “Caught you looking, Morningpaw.” He teased. “Anything you need? Or is it more like a “Look at this outsider” kind of stare, because I can change your mind about me in less than a day.” He assured.
