Like what is a spotted leaf? A leaf that's been eaten by bugs? Yellowfang needs to brush her teeth Runningnose... is just weird Clawface. Clawface. Wetfoot and Webfoot Brindleface. This isn't weird until you realizes she's GRAY (brindle meaning a brownish or tawny color) Ferncloud and Hawkfrost of course Mistyfoot and Smokefoot Barkface. Most -face names sound weird Birchfall is okay but do you want to be named after a tree falling over?? Morningflower Rainwhisker Even Dustpelt is kind of bad. You wanna be named after a speck of dust? Heavystep and LOUDBELLY
this is mostly a joke

Disagree, I think they're all fine Spottedleaf - A leaf that's turning orange in the autumn, I'm assuming Runningnose - Named after his uncurable cold, it looks like he was supposed to be a comedy character with Yellowfang(?) mentioning that the health of the entire Clan is left up to a guy named Runningnose who can't even cure his own cold Yellowfang - idk man i think this was another comedy name Clawface - He has a claw mark on his face... pretty self-explanatory. It's a fine name. Wetfoot & Webfoot - I don't really see what's wrong with these ones Brindleface - I've always just imagined brindle as a bunch of thin stripes, but it can be any colour. I find this a normal name Ferncloud - Pretty name tbh not much else to say Hawkfrost - Agree. Garbage name Mistyfoot & Smokefoot - Smokefoot was a black-furred cat and Mistyfoot was a pale blue cat. The foot part of their name really wasn't important Barkface - How's this one bad? Birchfall - What's wrong with being named after a falling tree. That's cool Morningflower - This one's a great name too I don't know why it's here Rainwhisker - Rain on a whisker? It makes sense, it sounds nice, it's easy to visualise, matches his appearance... I don't see how this name is bad at all. Dustpelt - Not really a speck of dust. The plural of dust is still dust. Though I've only ever seen light brown and gray dust, and Dustpelt is dark brown... Heavystep - Heavystep is described as thick-set and broad-shouldered, a muscular cat. It'd make sense for him to have heavy steps Loudbelly - Agreed what the hell is Loudbelly lmao

I didn't read the "this is mostly a joke" part until I got up to Rainwhisker, so here is an extremely long reply
Spottedleaf- It's a pretty name. The original arc was mostly bland suffixs, so this one was a nice change of pace. also, she could have been named for her herb skills Yellowfang- Agree this one is a little weird because she's a grey cat Runningnose- there was a reason he was named like that, so he gets a pass Clawface- Probably named because it sounded fierce and ShC used to be the scary clan Webfoot- Cats can have webbed toes, -foot was a common suffix back in the day, and the prefix could have been referring to spider webs Wetfoot- ...maybe he was always liking his paws? Brindleface- grey brindled cats exist, also if you want to argue Brindleface isn't brown you have to also argue tawnypelt isn't tawny Ferncloud- What's wrong with it? Hawkfrost- how dare you insult one of the best warrior names ever! /hj Mistyfoot- She was named after RiverClan (I think) and once again, -foot was a common suffix Smokefoot- Maybe he had smoke-coloured paws? Barkface- I like this name, also its better than Barkpelt or Barkfur Birchfall- Trees falling over is pretty common in warriors and there are worse things to be named after Morningflower-this name is god tier Rainwhisker- Idk whats bad about it? Dustpelt- It isn't a speck of dust, he's dust coloured Heavystep and Loudbelly- no you're entirely right, these names suck

I don't see how this name is bad at all. You have some good explanations. Just to clarify these ones: A wet foot just sounds unpleasant Webfoot has webbed feet, like a duck A cloud of ferns?? Barkface makes me think of someone barking in your face, but it actually means his face is the color of tree bark, so I guess it's fine Morningflower like a flower but only in the morning. Seems silly Rainwhisker I always thought of as a whisker made of rain rather than rain on a whisker

Neither are bad. Both generations have unique names and I like most names old and new. The unique ones are the most memorable.

I know you said this is mostly a joke, but this is something I've actually noticed in the fandom on occasion and I just don't get it. From the very beginning, it's made perfectly clear that the suffix of a cat isn't always dependent on their prefix, hence why a leader always lists the cat's virtues during a warrior ceremony. In Fireheart's case, he was named for his coat (prefix) and bravery (suffix) while someone like Spottedleaf would've been named for her own tortoiseshell pelt (prefix) and her easygoing nature (suffix). Rainwhisker, same thing for prefix, but maybe the -whisker part could mean he was a good tracker or something about his whiskers stood out.
But yeah, I agree, the new names are really no better or worse than the old ones.

Bluefur, Blackfoot, Crookedjaw, Crowfeather, etc. How is Crowfeather literal? Crows have feathers, of course, but in meaning, he literally chose it himself because he wanted to honor Feathertail. In fact, according to Vicky, if Tallstar had named him, he might've been named Crowclaw for his scratchy personality instead.

I know you’ve said this is mostly a joke, but I’ll share my opinions on the names you mentioned, just for fun.
Like/love: Ferncloud, Hawkfrost, Birchfall, Morningflower
Slightly like/decent: Spottedleaf, Mistyfoot, Smokefoot, Rainwhisker, Dustpelt
Dislike: Yellowfang, Clawface, Wetfoot, Webfoot, Brindleface, Barkface (I don’t like the -face suffix at all)
Hate: Runningnose, Heavystep, Loudbelly (with these I dislike the prefix and suffix though some more than others)

But yeah, I agree, the new names are really no better or worse than the old ones. I dislike this argument whenever it pops up. It's true that sometimes a warrior suffix has a meaning that reflects an iconic characteristic, such as -heart referring to a character's good nature. But that doesn't mean that every suffix serves that purpose. We have no reason to think "-leaf" is code for "easygoing nature". Sometimes a suffix is just a suffix because the leader thinks it sounds nice. I've always understood Rainwhisker's name to just mean "rain on whiskers". That's it.

I also don't understand the fandom hate for the names Loudbelly and Heavystep. I think they're hilarious.

(Yes, I know this thread is mostly meant as a joke.)
I'm just over here loving most of the names (but not all) be they old or new, wether they make sense (Fireheart) or not really (Hawkfrost). Even a lot of the "weird" ones (but again not all of them because what the heck kind of name even is Conefoot!?)
What I usually end up having an actual problem with is when a prefix or suffix is used too often/much in the Clans at the same time. Such as the -fur and -pelt suffixes (mostly in the past) as well as the -shine and -song ones (modern times). It's just kinda boring. But that's a different topic.

I like some of the newer names better. I’d rather have a Kitescratch and Myrtlebloom over a fifth Robinwing or a fourth Milkfur.
