I'm pretty sure that there was more than one scene of Mapleshade pinning Ivypool down easily (also that she almost drowned her in that one training excerise). But then again, I think Ivypool was still either a young apprentice in one of those first instances and still learning/training as at least a DF trainee (but already a warrior in her Clan) during the almost getting drowned situation.
So anyways, my opinion is that Ivypool might stand a chance against Mapleshade later on but probably not when she was younger. And then there's also the fact that Mapleshade knows how Ivypool fights, seeing as she had plenty of opportunities to observe her while training was taking place regarding the Dark Forest sessions. Hm, might actually vote for Mapleshade overall here, to be honest. Not completely certain about that choice though.

You're correct, Ivypool was just Ivypaw in both of those instances when Mapleshade pinned her down. Other than that, they never really encountered each other. That's what makes me favor Ivypool, since Mapleshade was really just bullying a much smaller, not full grown cat when she did beat Ivypool.

That's what makes me favor Ivypool, since Mapleshade was really just bullying a much smaller, not full grown cat when she did beat Ivypool. Yeah, true. I was also kinda thinking about the encounter Ivypool's daughter Bristlefrost had with Mapleshade in ALitM but due to me not having read that arc (and don't a copy of any of the TBC books available to check yet), I'm not exactly sure about her (Mapleshade's) strength there. There is nothing much about that fight on the wiki yet either and I'm not that keen on searching the old ALitM spoiler thread right now. So yeah, there's that. While I don't think Mapleshade is a weak fighter, she probably would not be that much of a match for Ivypool anymore once the latter had been training in the DF for a while. Took back my vote on Mapleshade in this instance but am still a little unsure about voting for Ivypool. No idea as to why, just a feeling. So I'll simply be leaving this thread without having voted lol.

This but also tbf, Mapleshade was impressed by Ivypool so much she wanted her to fight by her side when the time came, if I'm remembering it correctly. Which is an interesting feat I suppose. So even she must have been impressed by her somewhat, even adding to the fact that she became the representative for the TC trainees.

Ivypool. She’s really grown into her own and if Bristlefrost can beat her, I don’t see why her mother can’t. Also, Mapleshade got killed by an apprentice 💀 I don’t think Mapleshade is particularly strong or anything, just a villain who has the ability to manipulate situations. Mapleshade was a formidable in TBC though, and even for Bristlefrost she wasn't an easy fight. As for her actual death, keep in mind it was after she was blindsided from behind, it didn't immediately kill her either, and she still had enough strength to make it back to the barn where she eventually bled out. I think the fight would be close, because DF cats are a different level of fighting abilities, but overall Ivypool will probably win.

Probably Mapleshade, there are multiple instances were Ivypool is defeated by her. Both have grown in different ways and it could be more interesting.
