What do you think of Brokenstar? I know he was a rather generic evil villain who's evil for the sake of being evil, but I sort of like him. I know Vicky mentioned she would have wanted to do a Brokenstar SE and give him some sympathetic traits so he's not all that one-dimensional.

I would have also liked to see Brokenstar be a more fleshed out villainous character. There were traces of something else to him during YS as a kit/apprentice but he ultimately ended up being rather one-dimensional in the main series. Maybe it's a "good thing" though considering that's a child killer we are talking about. No other character who harmed kits at one point or other in this series ever did it to the extent he did so, after all.

He’s a pretty decent villain, I think he’s outshined by almost every other villain though.

He's pretty lame but his role is just being a starter villain in the first series and then the manipulated leader in OOTS. So from a narrative point of view, it makes sense for him to be like that, since it makes Tigerstar more cunning for being able to play him like that.

I liked him as a villain. I know he was rather one dimensional, but sometimes you just want that in a story.

I like him purely because I feel bad for him. He didn't have a good kithood. His father babied him so he never truly understood what was right and what was wrong, and everyone else treated him unfairly, including his foster mother.
I like to think his story is similar to Breezepelt's, and that Brokenstar intentionally chose him to be his apprentice because of that. Nightcloud always babied(?) Breezepelt, being fiercely overprotective, and Crowfeather never payed him any attention.
Back to Brokenstar - I really like him because of his part in Yellowfang's Secret. The role he plays in his mother's story is arguably the most memorable thing about him.

I think he's underrated. I like his contrasts with Tigerstar. In blackstar's novella he seemed to have the more cold evil. Even if he seemed rageful on the outside.

I thought he had some potential, and I'm thinking about writing an AU where he becomes a medicine cat apprentice(bcuz of that one scene in Yellowfang's SE). He's definitely pretty generic in terms of personality though.
