~SPOILER DISCLAIMER FOR THOSE NOT DONE WITH ARC 1~ I just finished rereading TPB and realized how many sad deaths it has. For me, the saddest deaths were Bluestar and Whitestorm. Yellowfang could be up there too. Personally, Bluestar was the saddest for me though. I made this hard by only giving you guys one option, so use it wisely. Also, to make it more sad I’ve decided to list all their last words because I’m so nice ~MAJOR SPOILER WARNING~ Bluestar: “You will be Firestar, the light of ThunderClan.” Cause of death: Drowned/Fell down gorge Yellowfang (to Fireheart): “Thank you for bringing me to ThunderClan. Tell Bluestar I have always been grateful for the home she gave me. This is a good place to die. I only regret that I will miss watching you become what StarClan has destined you to be.” Cause of death: Smoke inhalation Whitestorm: “Trust your heart, Firestar. You have always known that Graystripe was the cat destined to be your deputy.” Cause of death: Killed by Bone Silverstream: “Goodbye, Graystripe.” Cause of death: Blood loss while kitting Stonefur: “You’ll have to kill me first, Tigerstar.” Cause of death: Killed by Blackfoot(star) and Darkstripe Swiftpaw (to Brightpaw): “Don’t worry! There’s nothing here!” Cause of death: Killed by the dog pack Lionheart (to Graypaw): “Remember, you’re almost a warrior. Don’t forget what I taught you.” Cause of death: Killed in battle (I like the theory where Tigerclaw(star) kills him) Snowkit: “S’all right.” Cause of death: Killed by a hawk Spottedleaf: “Take care, Firepaw.” Cause of death: Killed by Clawface DANG- WHY IS EVERYONES LAST WORDS TALKING TO FIRESTAR Anyways, have fun deciding! Tell me your decision because I’m curious on what others think.

Bluestar, followed very closely by Yellowfang and Silverstream. Those are the three TPB deaths that had younger me crying buckets.

Stonefur being murdered publicly to uproarious applause was brutal.

Went with Stonefur because his death makes me cry on every re-read due to how utterly unsettling the bonehill situation was overall and how unbelievably unfairly he (as well as Featherpaw and Stormpaw) got treated by their Clanmates and leader (referring to RiverClan and Leopardstar here specifically since ShadowClan and Tigerstar only made up half of TigerClan and the fact that their own actual former Clanmates treated Stonefur, Featherpaw and Stormpaw this way can never be called out enough). At least Tigerstar has "the excuse of being a villain and thus doing his job of being horrible all too well" but Leopardstar still needs to get dragged for this as well, I don't give a damn about her so called "redemption"(same with Blackstar). Sorry about the small rant, especially on Christmas (Eve).
Other deaths from TPB who hit me hard were Silverstream, Yellowfang, Graypool, Swiftpaw, Snowkit, Brindleface, Bluestar, Gorsepaw and Whitestorm.

Snowkit because of just how unfair societal life in the clans had been to him. Immediately shutting down any chance or potential for him to be good, registering him as pitiable. And even when he had support (specifically his mother) backing him, instead of overcoming adversity, the doubters were proven right in the end which is just depressing. It's like an underdog story gone wrong. And I understand it's likely for the point of realism, to show how dangerous the life in the clans were (in the first arc anyway) but it doesn't make it any less upsetting. Especially when we had cats during that time, Brightheart and Cinderpelt, who would also suffer disability and go on to prosper just fine in life and find a way to exist in the clan. It just feels sick and unreasonable. Add on the fact he was a kit and that just makes it more upsetting. Again I get it's for body counts to show the danged of the wild to Fireheart, proving just how sinister this life can be. But it's sill depressing.

Why did they kill off so many cats in TPB. But Yellowfang hit the hardest. Her last words are very sad-I have a soft spot for old cats lol

Why did they kill off so many cats in TPB. But Yellowfang hit the hardest. Her last words are very sad-I have a soft spot for old cats lol Because they had more pagetime to do so. Firestar only needs to react to each death once, whereas those with multiple POVs necessitate each character reacting to the death. This means it's uneconomical to have many deaths.

Stonefur from the list, but overall Gorsepaw’s death was just so painful and upsetting to read about.

due to 'enter the clans' being the first book i ever read, Swiftpaw's death didn't hit me as hard when i got to that part in Dangerous path. It was rereading brightheart's retelling of that event that got me.
Spottedleaf was the first death i cried for, despite how little was known about her.
while I loved yellowfang her death felt like a choice. it was her or bramblekit, if one was saved you knew the other was going to die.
Stonefur died making sure Stormfur and Feathertail lived.
Bluestar's death felt expected after she began to distrust her entire clan.
Lionheart was unexpected and greypaw's reaction is what hurt.
Whitestorm was sad, but it felt like it was his time.
Snowkit and Silverstream were just unfair, snowkit had everything to live for and it was snatched away so quickly. silverstream had only just met her kits and had to say goodbye to her family not long after.

I agree with almost all your opinions! Despite reading arc one first I also didn’t find Swiftpaw’s death as sad as everyone else did. Yeah, I felt bad for him at first, but felt more bad for Brightpaw.

Swiftpaw's death was the first time I ever cried reading these books. I remember being SO pissed at Bluestar about it, because I found it super unfair.

Alsooooo SPOILER ALERT FOR THE NEW PROPHECY Feathertail's death was also super sad. SPOILER FOR A LIGHT IN THE MIST For me, the saddest death in the Warriorverse was Bristlefrost's death. She was my favourite character, and Rootspring had just made up his mind to switch Clans for her.... Bristlespring is my favourite ship in the whole of warriors. I just think it's super sad. I understand that this was one of the only ways it could've ended, but... Couldn't Shadowsight have saved Bristlefrost from Ashfur instead of Bristlefrost saving Shadowsight? I don't particularly like Shadowsight and I would much rather Bristlefrost survived, although Shadowsight's death would've crushed Tigerstar2 and Dovewing. Ivypool, Rootspring, and others were so sad about Bristlefrost's death. Bristlefrost is my favourite character.

I'd gotten spoilers and already known about Yellowfang's death, but her final words always gave me goosebumps. Her death hit hard, especially since she was a favourite of mine while reading.
"I wish you’d been my son, but I could not have borne a cat like you. StarClan gave me Brokentail to teach me a lesson." That line always made me sad. She deserved so much better than what she got.
