I've been thinking about this and honestly the "unable to shoulder the burden of Firestar's legacy" feels like a weak plot to be having now. I didn't think it was that bad at first but considering his mom looked literally exactly like Firestar according to the narrative, why didn't they have her be the ThunderClan protagonist in A Vision of Shadows and do it with her? It just doesn't really make sense to be doing it now and feels kind of hollow. I don't hate Nightheart but it feels very forced, and just a way to get him to move to ShadowClan (however temporarily). I'm interested to see where his character goes, though. I don't agree with the way he's been treated by his Clan even if he has been a bit short-tempered and snappy. I hate that they seem to be going for Nightheart x Sunbeam.

I definitely do think it's a missed opportunity as Sparkpelt looks very similar if not exactly like Firestar, her prefix being related to fire as well, think it could've been interesting seeing things from her perspective like her relationship with her brother, how she deals with her parents' bitter love-hate relationship, how she dealt with the death of Larksong alongside one of her own kits how she dealt with her aunt/mother's death, there's quite a bit and why the legacy stuff is all shoehorned onto Nightheart is definitely odd

I also think the whole "burden of Firestar's legacy" drama plot would have ultimately made more sense and should have gone to Sparkpelt instead of any of her kits. While I do kind of like the concept of her canonically being comfortable with looking like Firestar and getting compared to him more subtly which does not seem to bother her, Sparkpelt getting Nightheart's plot in this regard could really have been less contrived than him being constantly hounded about it by his Clanmates and family members in ASC so far based on a forced along narrative. Don't get me wrong, I like Nightheart and can relate to his current "angsty teen lashing out at seemingly everyone" characterization on a personal level (was a misunderstood/angry teen as well back in the day) but still am convinced that his story will amount to more than that and he'll change his attitude throughout his own personal journey and character development. Sky Spoilers: I'm convinced he'll either fail his ShadowClan entrance assessment or just join them temporarily and eventually make his return back to ThunderClan where him and his family (and other Clanmates) are going to then resolve their conflict(s) and can move on together. As for him and Sunbeam, I'm kind of convinced with this pairing as well that it will only be a temporary or even just a hollow romance. At least, that's how it read on the spoiler thread in the summaries although actually reading Sky for myself soon(ish) is probably a better idea to fully judge their relationship dynamic progression in it.
