Upon reflection...I'm honestly kind of annoyed with the name choice for Nightheart. Nightheart's a cool name and all, but the heart suffix tends to be used for warriors with unyielding compassion. I'm sorry but that doesn't really suit Nightheart's personality. I'm pretty sure literally the only reason Bramblestar named him Flameheart at the end of River was as an homage to Firestar. I kind of hope his name gets changed again but I don't think it's likely.
What are your thoughts on this?

i agree with you 100%! -heart just.. isn't a suffix i can see for him. my #1 choice for a second name change that i believe i've stated before would be nightbreeze. -breeze as a suffix would fit him better, because like the breeze, he can either be prickly and cold or warm, depending on his mood. but i'd love to see him choose a name that fits him fully.

I suppose so. He was named Flameheart specifically after Fireheart, which is why is was so upset to begin with. Finchlight even wondered if he would have been named after his long whiskers or how he caught his prey during his final assessment. Flamewhisker or Flameclaw. Those would've been interesting name choices.

Those would've been interesting name choices. I was thinking something like Flamesight because of his orange eyes, or Flameshadow due to his pelt.

I prefer Flameheart mostly because I was rooting for that to be his name even before ASC and -heart is one of my favourite suffixes. I would have preferred a plotline where he embraces the name but still knows he can be his own cat. Just my take on it though.

-heart suffix is no longer special...i wish it was actually the way i've always seen it. -heart only goes to cats who have done a heroic act or have a clear show of selfless character in day to day life, etc. fireheart got heart not only for oakheart (a popular headcanon in the fandom), but bc he is seen as a hero and bluestar knew he'd continue to do things to save the forest (due to prophecy).
but now a days? random background cats get -heart as their suffix, and it has completely lost meaning, at least to me personally. i feel like the only one who fits is cinderheart bc she earned heart for being courageous during her injury

Personally, I find Nightheart kind of a cool name, but it definitely doesn't fit Night whatsoever...Maybe in the future, he can prove he's worthy of it? But he least as is doesn't seem like the heroic type or one to make significant sacrifices, not sure what kind of name I would've preferred instead, maybe Nightstorm? With how quick he is with his emotions one moment being fine then the next upset or angsty

I’d have really liked Nightflame or Nightfire, unique suffixes, can still be named after Firestar or keep the ‘flame’ part of his name his mother gave him, and could fit his fiery and aggressive personality that also has some warmth to it.

I can also see if the cat is kind, -heart would be good because of their big heart. Or if they were passionate about something? But with these side characters we don't know why -heart is a good choice.

I like the Night- prefix for him much more than the Flame- one tbh. It does suit him better after all. But in terms of of suffix, -heart is still in reference to Firestar which kinda defeats the purpose (and his request) to get his name changed in the first place, in my opinion. Nightsong would have been way better (which was also my pick when he was still called Flamepaw) after his father Larksong. Still a name to honor a dead cat but at least one who directly meant something to Nightheart instead of his long dead great-grandfather.
Or just go the opposite route and name him Nightclaw after Bramblestar who got named after his own father Tigerstar (Nightheart's other great-grandfather btw). Since the -claw suffix gets used almost just as much as the -heart option these days anyways but fits way more in terms of Nightheart's actual personality.

i really hope he keeps the name nightheart, because its gonna leave a complete sour taste in my mouth if he embraces his ''''''actual'''''' name after how people have treated him. (regardless of if theyre ooc or not about it, thats not the conversation here) on the other hand, we couldve had flamestorm sigh (maybe name something after sandstorm hm?)
