Here are my thoughts (beware of spoilers, obviously):
I have a lot to say about this super edition. Bear with me, this isn't some well organized essay or anything I'm basically just rambling about the book. There's a lot I liked and a lot that I didn't like. I'll start off with the things I did not enjoy about it.
I did not like how the main premise of the book was about Onestar's relationships with Smoke and Darktail. This is something we've only known about since A Vision of Shadows, and even then it's something that kind of came out of nowhere. I honestly would have preferred the entire plot be about something else, or at least not put so much focus on it. There were serious pacing issues with the story. They skipped some really important scenes from Onestar's life in the books that he probably would have been reflecting on in the spirit moorland while waiting for the results of his trial. They skipped WindClan's being driven out, his meeting Fireheart. They skipped Gorsepaw (his own apprentice and nephew, by the way) being murdered right in front of him. Most of all, they skipped when he raided ThunderClan's camp in the middle of the night during the events of Eclipse. The kittypets: Bailey, Melody and Leo/Brushpaw, were cool, but they were not super relevant to the story.
Now for the pros. The story structure is very neat: the prologue being his death and arriving post mortem at the spiritual moorland where Tallstar visits him and tells him he must wait while his fate is being decided. He reflects on his life for the rest of the book. The epilogue is Tallstar coming to him with the conclusion. The comic is about the aftermath, him in StarClan and talking with Firestar and giving Harestar a life and being at peace. Nice and tidy and full circle. The story was enjoyable and did not paint Onestar in a positive light, it just reinforced the notion that he is a coward and really explains a lot of his behavior in the Warriors books he's appeared in previously. A lot of individual scenes in the story were cool and I won't list them all, but I really liked his leader ceremony and the final fight with Darktail.
Overall, one of the best Super Editions in the last few years. I liked it more than Tigerheart, Crowfeather, Squirrelflight, Graystripe, and Leopardstar, that's for sure.
