I think he only cared about them insofar as he saw them as another way to create a legacy for himself. They weren’t his darling kits, they were a means to attribute even more greatness to his name.

Tigerstar loved them in the sense of only if they were loyal to him and just as power-hungry as he was. If not, his kids were just useless to him.

i headcanon that tigerstar doesn't love anyone or anything other than himself (in an ego sort of way, not a self love way) and his power.
i headcanon he only got with goldenflower because she's conventionally attractive and a good enough warrior at the time. he didn't love his kits, but he only loved the idea of controlling them in the future, and having kin on his side was more of a strategic move to keep his power and image strong.
i headcanon he only got with sasha to have more kits he could control. he felt like he couldn't control his kits since he got kicked out of thunderclan, so he took the first vulnerable she-cat he came across, even though she was a former kittypet.
thats why when he took over shadowclan, he was very fast to guilt sasha into joining shadowclan.
even when he died, tigerstar continued to try and control his children. the only one he managed to do that with 100% was hawkfrost, but hawkfrost failed and died, and his remaining 3 children (bramble, tawny, and moth) were so intergrated in their clan roles on the good side, that he didnt find use in them anymore as they were now unconrolable.

He only ever cared about their existence to use them for his own personal gain. If they did not have something that benefitted him in some way, Tigerstar usually showed his true cruel self instead of putting on the mask of a proud parent wanting to "help" his kits succeed by following a plan he came up with.

I feel this is an "Invincible" situation for those who have seen the show I haven't seen the show and I didn't find much about their relationship when I searched it up. What is the situation like there? Well, I'll try to summarize the father and son bit of the series so spoilers The Main character, Mark/Invincible just got his powers passed down from his father who is from another planet of people called Viltrumite.
Omni-man, the father, came to Earth, met his wife, and was considered a hero.
But he wasn't actually there to become a "hero", he was there to conquer Earth as it was his mission from his home planet, so he killed a group of fellow heroes known as the Guardians of the Globe. So as Omni-man was teaching Mark how to be a hero, he was preparing Mark to help alongside him. Meanwhile, his wife and the GDA (Global Defense Agency) thought he was found with the GotG since he was injured at the scene but then had their suspicions that he was involved, so they attempt to kill him.
So in the final episode, Omni-man tells Mark the truth about where he's from, in his home planet only the strongest survive, and decided to send some people to conquer all the planets, then expand to those planets. Omni-man offers Mark to help him conquer Earth, as father and son. Saying the people's lives were all pointless, even seeing his own wife as a "pet" since Viltrumite age very slowly. Mark refuses since he always wanted to be a hero. So they get into a fight then Omni-man beats Mark to make his point, almost killing him in the process and resulting in the deaths of thousands of people. He asks Mark why he had made him do what he had done since he was only fighting so he would watch everybody around him die. He asks Mark what he would have after 500 years, and Mark tells him he would have him. Nolan looks at his bloody hands and flies away, breaking through the atmosphere as he cries and made his way out of Earth's solar system.
So watching this series reminded me of Tigerstar and Brambleclaw, how the father tries to be the good guy, but has bad intentions which he sees as good. The son wants to be the good guy and refuses to follow in his father's footsteps. The father wants his son/kits to follow since it would protect their legacy, which seems to be the case with Tiger and Bramble, maybe even Tawny. Then there was Hawkfrost and Tigerstar convinces him to join and Hawkfrost did, so pretty much the complete opposite of Brambleclaw. Then there's everything that happens afterwards up to OOTS.

Yes. If I recall, after he was exiled in Tigerclaw's Fury, he wanted to get them. And he was grateful when Fireheart saved Bramblekit's life from the fire.
