To give a bit of background I’ve been reading the warriors series for about 6 years now (admittedly with some breaks in between) and yesterday I finished Darkness Within. Today I started reading Graystripe’s Vow and after just a few chapters, I noticed that his thoughts seem a lot more interesting to read about compared to the protagonists of TBC arc. I’m not sure exactly what it is but it feels like his thoughts seem to reflect how the reader would see the events of warrior cats up to that point. It also feels like he is more expressive and has a more defined character. Kinda like Jayfeather is known for making snarky remarks, and not hesitating to show his inner thoughts, which we see most recently in the Lost Stars Bonus scene. I want to say that this proves its not just nostalgic value that makes older cats more interesting to read about but idk . Granted, older cats cats we’ve known longer and get to know better, but even though Im on the 5th book of TBC now I can’t see this kind of depth in the protagonists. That’s why I relish when we get to hear from older cats point of views in the main series as rarely as it does happen

I think characters who are aged up have more interestings perspectives, but not necessarily because they are older characters from the earlier series. The aged characters have more life experience and they go through different things than the usual tropes new protagonists cycle through (ie: no one believes me about ___ prophecy, will they won't they romance, etc.).

For me, the thought is mostly for apprentices and kits. There's just so much you can say about an them before you repeat training, chores, and sneaking out through the dirtplace over and over. Whereas if you have a warrior POV, they get so much more freedom with what they're able to do.

I think it depends on how it's executed.
You can make any pov interesting or boring no matter what age they are. Personally, for me, I think it would be interesting to have a POV around an elder in the main clan tbh, would be cool. On the other hand it would be interesting to have a young protagonist who eventually becomes a queen, or maybe loses their faith in StarClan, or even exile for a while?
I think we just need new elements in the story is all.

I've always enjoyed the more practical POVs. I don't like when characters hide information without reason to do so, and it's usually the younger POVs that try to keep secrets that arent there for a good reason and are just there to make drama. Or keep their insecurities bottled up instead of having a trudted friend or mentor to give advice.
So many problems can be solved by asking for help!!

I like older ones. Most of the apprentices have the same personality starting out and it gets repetitive.

Is it me or I find background characters more interesting than as we got today?? If you mean that background characters used to be more interesting I agree.

Now that I think about it the reason I noticed such a contrast in the pov between the last few arcs and GV is because the last few arcs protagonists basically went through the similar experiences of being an apprentice and then a young warrior/medicine cat, where as Graystripe is already an elder with many older memories at this point.

Depends on the writing and characterization of each PoV.
