Bristlefrost works really well as a parallel to Ashfur when you realize that she is almost what Ashfur could have been had he made better decisions.

Bristlefrost works really well as a parallel to Ashfur when you realize that she is almost what Ashfur could have been had he made better decisions. I wonder if the writers intentionally wrote Bristlefrost the way she was in order to make her a parallel and/or foil to Ashfur. They're both gray cats with blue eyes who started off eager and energetic, but then got turned down by their romantic interest in favor of a friend of theirs (Brambleclaw and Spotfur in this scenario). But whereas Ashfur obviously let it fester and snowball into what happened later on, Bristlefrost was able to move on. Makes you wonder if Ashfur saw that in Bristlefrost, hence why he singled her out to do his bidding (along with seeing how easily she could unfortunately be manipulated).

The parallels are too clear to ignore. The way that Bristlefrost talks about love later on in contrast to how Ashfur thinks about it is also rather clear.
