As the one person who ships Sorrelstripe and Curlfeather together seeing Myrtle and Bay get their full names makes me happy

Myrtlebloom is a great name I love it. Finchlight is okay, it makes zero sense in my opinion but Warriors names have a tendency of doing that so it's fine lol

I do like them making sure the deputy can't take power from the leader easily by abusing this method. It's almost like some thought actually went into this LMAO

I do wonder what's up with Bramblestar.. kinda hoping they aren't foreshadowing something else going on with him. I may not like him, but I think losing his body for an arc and almost disappearing for good is enough pain.

Making the deputy take over seems like a questionable idea. The deputy is usually a pretty big supporter of the leader. And if they weren't, the leader could just demote them and pick a new deputy as soon as this process started. You's just be putting the leaders puppet in charge. Who's to say they couldn't just pick the deposed leader as their new deputy?

It seems reasonable to let the deputy take over because it's literally their job to take over the leader position

It seems reasonable to let the deputy take over because it's literally their job to take over the leader position It's reasonable, but because the leader *picks* the deputy, it wouldn't actually cause any real change unless 100% (not 75%!) of the clan was against the leader. The 15% of supporters would continue to lead the clan.

Chapter 4 summary: ThunderClan head towards the Gathering, speculating what the changes to the code will be. Flamepaw takes no interest in the argument, feeling that the only reason he was going to the Gathering was because Lilyheart suggested bringing him along to Bramblestar; he knows that she wants to cheer him up. All of TC has been congratulating themselves on being the most amazing Clan ever since Ashfur's defeat, but Flamepaw didnt see it that way.
He doesnt want to join any of the other apprentices when they reach the Gathering, the last Clan to. He sees Rootspring walking towards Ivypool, who nuzzles him warmly. Flamepaw is dubious about what happened with Rootspring, StarClan and the Dark Forest, wondering why the fate of the Clans would be put in few paws. He feels that TC just needed some cat to blame for everything that had gone wrong.
Tigerstar calls the Gathering into order, announcing the new kits. Birchfall gets his moment in the spotlight as Tigerstar's kit is named after him. Bramblestar announces his new warriors: Myrtlebloom, Bayshine and Finchfight. Flamepaw cheers but then feels as if every cat is staring at him and feels anger towards Lilyheart. The apprentices near him ask him why he didnt receive his warrior name as well and make fun of him, before a young brown and white tabby she-cat tells them to knock it off. She compliments his name. Mistystar introduces Frostpaw and then starts talking about changes to the code.
She announces that a system has been developed to allow cats to take cats from other Clans as mates. Any cat can change Clans for mates. To do this, 2 cats must declare their intention at a Gathering, the cat wishing to change Clans must perform a task of their intended Clan's choosing to prove they are serious. They will be allowed to change Clans if they are successful. While debate about this breaks out, Rootspring silences it by agreeing with Mistystar with a passionate voice. It is noted every cat feels massive respect for Rootspring due to recent events. Flamepaw boldly suggests to make it harder for the cat to leave their Clan by possibly demoting them to apprentices.
Mistystar then mentions the leaders have come up with a system to depose a leader. 75% of the Clan must agree the leader is harmful, including the med cats (mandatory). The medicine cats will then present their case to the other leaders, and if they agree, they will present it to StarClan. If they agree, then they will take away the leader's nine lives and give it to the deputy. The deputy can not be the one to begin the process of deposing their leader, as an ambitious cat can not be allowed to seize power.
Flamepaw loses interest and thinks it is all pointless. The Gathering ends. Lilyheart pads by his side on the way out and tells him he embarrassed her as apprentices dont speak at Gatherings. Flamepaw lingers, wanting the avoid Lilyheart and the new warriors. He notices that Bramblestar stayed behind too, still at the foot of the Great Oak, seemingly lost. When Flamepaw asks, Bramblestar tells him everything is okay, but it is just strange sometimes being back as he finds himself disappearing into memory. They go home together, discussing him passing his warrior assessment

Curlfeather has high expectations What do you mean??? Is she high-strung? Because she seemed really supportive of Frostpaw in the preview...

75%? That's an odd number. Why not something like 90%? Honestly, this chapter just made me feel really bad for Flamepaw.

75%? That's an odd number. Why not something like 90%? Honestly, this chapter just made me feel really bad for Flamepaw. Something tells me requiring the support of the medicine cats is key here and the reason it's not higher. You can have the support of your Clanmates all you want, but not having the support of your medicine cats is definitely not a good thing.

75%? That's an odd number. Why not something like 90%? Honestly, this chapter just made me feel really bad for Flamepaw. I think 75% is reasonable (if not still slightly high), as it’s still well over the majority of the Clan. With the current number of cats in a Clan (iirc ThunderClan had about 40 in the last series or two), each cat would count a little over 2%, or even more if it’s from an earlier series. So if the requirement was 90% in favor of demotion, you’d only need maybe 3-4 cats (leader included) to oppose the demotion. That definitely wouldn’t have passed under Brokenstar’s leadership for instance, but I could see the 75% as more likely to be successful in that case.
