My dog was hit by a car. Now he's gone. I've known him since I was around 6. He's been a part of the family for about 8 years and now... RIP Shadow. You will forever be missed. I'm going to try to explain. Hes an outside dog with a dog house and a leash. He managed to escape the leash and put him in the dog house, but apparently he escaped because he's Houdini. But, I'm pretty sure he got hit by a car after he escaped.

I'm sorry to hear that. Losing a pet, especially one you've known for a long time, is always awful.
Do you have school to go to? Because if so, I'd ask to take a day off because of this.

I go to online school. I requested a day off from my parents, but I think they said no. Then again, I do have my phone, so I might just have a day off.

im sorry, i know how you feel. We lost our Brittany Spaniel, Ginger, just two years ago.
She was almost 15, though, so she was fairly old. She'd suffered from a partial paralysis of the larynx for years (the larynx is the thing that allows you to breathe safely through your mouth-- it closes when you eat to prevent food from getting in.) Hers couldn't open all the way, so she had wheezy breath when she panted. One day we took her around the block for a walk, and the heat and panting was too much for her. Ginger started to hyperventilate because she couldn't get enough air in, which only made it worse. I'm not sure exactly how she died, but we took her to the vet immediately, and I think her lungs were just starting to shut down under shock. She died the next day.
At first it'll be really hard, because you'll see things that will remind you of your dog. And you'll probably cry a few more times. But after awhile it's less bitter and more sweet, and you'll smile happily at the memories.

<3 I'm sorry to hear that I had a Houdini like dog too, a border collie named Caesar. We were walking him on a leash and supposedly "no slip" harness. It didn't work, we think he did what the real Houdini did, and dislocated his should to escape (no dog could twist the way he could in a harness) my mom found him on the side of the road. He was paralyzed from his mid back down, so we put him down so he wouldn't suffer. We have another purebred border collie now, after having two mixed breed borders for five years until their death in a fire. We named him Houdini, for old times sake. I wish I could help, but all I can say is, when one door closes, another opens. Even though your dog died, don't let it stop you from letting in another, because who knows? Maybe the new dog needs you more than the deceased one did. Although, even if you don't get another. Keep an open mind. Because another animal may be out there, waiting just for you to come along and give him or her a home.

that's absolutely devastating and it will be weighing on my mind the next few days ):
that being said, maybe keep your domesticated animals indoors?
