What do guys think of A Light in the Mist compared to The Last Hope? Is it better or worse?

I think both are quite good in terms of tragedy, suspense, and beloved character deaths tbh.

TLH feels more final and close ended imo

Don’t let it kill you. Even when it hurts like hell.

TLH was much more finalized, and there was more tragedy, suspense and traumatic moments leading up to the Grand Finale prior . And far more Families were left with tragic endings with the Conclusion of OoTS, with there being far more Deaths, OoTS had plenty of problems, but the ending was more satisfying to me then A Light in The Mist could ever hope to be, with only 2 cats dying in the final battle in ALiTM . And with TBC striving for a much more horror-themed/genre atmosphere and aesthetic. There’s a severe lacking of heart-wrenching and Skin-crawling moments and bloodshed, and traumatic scenes that would of really driven it home, and make TBC leave a much more solid mark and impact on me. And with Ashfur already being a personalized character, with a backstory, and already being privy to his intentions and motivations, means there’s not even really much mystery or mystique Shrouding him, which imo is pretty much essential when it comes to horror, with the purpose being to scare my pants off, and make my Skin-crawl at least a little. Which unfortunately they’ve only succeeded to deliver for the first 2 books for me .
