Thanks for this! Hailstar, why are you such a pushover? It's a miracle this didn't make Leopardpaw feel entitled. Seems like Skypaw isn't above being nice to her after all, so it's nice to see that she does mature in some way. And I'm so glad they remembered that drypaw story after all. Sunfish is really sweet and I hope we see more of her friendship with Leopardfur in the future.
So, we have confirmation that Skyheart at least has a crush on Reedtail, so I'm wondering if their kits do turn out to be Icewing, Pinefur, and Duskfur.
Overall, I like it so far, though I'm surprised how fast things are going. I'm so used to cats staying apprentices for several chapters, so We'll see if turns out to be a good thing or not.

Thanks for posting! Sunpaw is such a good friend to Leopardpaw, and Whitefang a great mentor <3 I was really surprised her apprenticeship went by in one chapter; it usually takes longer in SEs. And she was made an apprentice early? Hailstar dude, no.
It looks like Skypaw did mellow out as she grew up, though that was still a seriously psychotic thing to do to Leopard and she hasn’t apologized for it. I liked that Leopard needed time to stop hating her for it, but became a supportive Clanmate once she did.
The rapid pacing makes me wonder/hope whether the SE might actually go past the Bone Hill? As in, we see Leopard lose her honor and then work to regain it? I would really like that.

This is looking like a truly excellent super edition and I actually am really liking what I see. I haven't seen Leader's tale from kithood onward formula in a while.

Thanks for posting! The rapid pacing makes me wonder/hope whether the SE might actually go past the Bone Hill? As in, we see Leopard lose her honor and then work to regain it? I would really like that. I'm pretty sure the Bone Hill scene is supposed to be when she loses her honor, but yeah, if it goes past that, then this book could very well serve as a redemption arc for her. We kinda saw this in ASiR, so it'd be interesting if we actually saw Leopardstar working to get away from her dark past through her own eyes. The only thing I'm hoping for is that we get to see why she decided to help WindClan attack ThunderClan in Eclipse in the first place.

Yay, thanks for posting! I'm glad we can read at least some more of it. I'm not surprised that Leopardkit got caught. I was half expecting it, honestly. And who should catch her, but her future mentor. I love how Whitefang's just teaching her how to stalk, despite being stern at her for being out of camp. Even teaching her different smells. I wanted to see the relationship between White and Leopard, so this will suffice for now.
Wow, is Hailstar ever a doormat. First with Rainflower, now with Leopardkit. She's supposed to become an apprentice in three moons, yet keeps arguing about becoming one as soon as possible. In the end Hailstar relented. She became one at five moons old. Also, it kind of looks like Leopardkit picked out her own mentor. She specifically said that Whitefang could train her and to those who've read CP you'll know that Whitefang was her mentor.
I am very surprised that they actually remembered that Leopardstar was originally a drypaw. They even remembered Sunfish being the only cat she told. Here we have Sunpaw doing exactly what the old app said she did. Leaving prey on the other side of water and telling Leopardpaw that she cannot eat until she wades over to get it. And it works!
Is Timberfur Frogleap's mentor? I wish the books would just tell us. "The countless mornings practicing with Frogpaw and Timberfur" does make it sound like he's the mentor.

Difference in personalities right here. Skypaw can't wait to lead patrols, while Sunpaw only wants to be apart of patrols. Skypaw has a crush on Reedpaw. They were mates in Su's missing kits, so that's an interesting tidbit. Looking on the list I have over here, Su had them as the parents of Icewing, Pinefur and Duskfur. I wonder if Reedtail is the father of her kits from Midnight. And then we have Sunpaw having a crush on Beetlenose, foreshadowing the ending of CP when they have two kits together: Vixenkit and Grasswhisker. And Leopardpaw over here doesn't like any toms.
I'm glad that Skypaw is being much nicer now and has clearly matured. And though it took her a while, Leopardpaw eventually forgave her for it. It's especially notable because, though she passed, Leopardpaw decided to wait until Skypaw was able to pass to become an apprentice as well. She even got the other apprentices to wait as well, though Blackpaw isn't happy about it.
I was hoping we would get a warrior ceremony for Leopardstar. Her trails were determination, independence, and loyalty.

I feel pretty sorry for Leopardpaw- it seems that she had some PTSD from nearly drowning. I'm glad her time as a drypaw and getting over it was so consistent though! I also love Sunfish so much <3.
So far this SE seems pretty good and looking at Leopardpaw's reaction when she was asked who she had a crush on, I'm hoping the TigerstarxLeopardstar rumors will not happen in this book.

Thanks for posting this! I'm actually really liking Leopardstar's POV and this SE so far, even though it seems a little fast paced, but like people mentioned earlier, I hope it shows a lot after the bone hill scene, that's honestly what I'm the most interested in reading, we'll possibly get to see RiverClan cats who didn't get much focus in the main arc, and who will probably die soon, so I hope that happens. I was kind of hoping the rivalry between Sky and Leopard would last longer, and I hope she gets some form of karma for what she said and what she did. Unpopular opinion: Sun is nice, like super nice, but I'm not sure how I feel about her character, she has absolutely no flaws, but that could change as the story goes on, it's only the first three chapters after all. What is with leaders breaking the code and apprenticing kits before they're 6 moons old? Ugh. I know he thought he had a good reason for it, but Brokenstar also thought his reasonings were good, I know they're vastly different reasonings, but still the code is the code, and every cat should follow it. Whitefang seems like a great cat, I hope Whiteclaw is still Leopardstar's apprentice, because that will be funny that her mentor and apprentice had such similar names.

At this point, I just expect there to be mistakes in the allegiances. They're bad this time, but at least they're mostly in the other Clans. What drives me up the wall is when a POV Clan is missing cats or something major like that.
Also, mentors for Palebird's kits! They largely match my headcanons, though I'd swap Hareflight for Appledawn. Even though they should already be warriors... As for the book itself, WOW. That was my first impression. I was not expecting an old fashioned SE and was so pleasantly surprised. And the editors really did their homework this time. They expanded on Leopardpaw being a drypaw and that offhand comment about feeling neglected Skykit made in CP. I'm pretty impressed so far.
Skykit's behavior is straight up sadistic. Taunting Leopardkit with her mother's death was sick and then she held her down underwater?! WTF?! She could have seriously hurt her! I don't think we've ever seen such a bad bully in the series. And worst of all she never gets any consequences for her actions!
I love Whitefang so much in this. He seemed very likeable in CP, but we never got to see him much. I really like how they're expanding obscure characters so far.
The hints at future romance are nice to see. I am so, SO happy to see that they are gradually re-canonizing Missing Kits.

MistybreezeYour post made me look at the allegiances again, Harelflight mentored both Mudclaw's father and Onestar's mother...interesting.

I usually glance at the alliances and yikes, so many mistakes this time around. It's honestly sad that people who are paid to keep track of these things can't. It's not THAT hard to know who would have been born at what time, and, yknow, make sure their father is listed as a warrior instead of his son. Honestly, you could easily cross reference books and find these things out easily.
Besides that... I'm kind of disappointed that her kithood and apprenticeship passed by in two chapters. I know we have a lot of ground to cover if this really is going to be her entire life but give us some more information. Why did Leopardpaw stop hating Skypaw? What she did was really gross and I wish Skypaw(kit) had faced actual consequences. What she did was beyond gross and nothing justifies pretend-drowning someone, let alone having them tell your hiding spot. I'm glad we did see that Leopardpaw faced very real psychological trauma from it but it was glossed over so fast and felt solved immediately.
Besides that, I loved Sunpaw even more than I did before. I can't wait to see more of her. Mudfur is also such a cute and good father. I'm sort of skeptical on Hailstar making her an apprentice early but that kind of stuff has happened before. I just wish we'd seen more of the restrictions she definitely would have gotten because of it. Here's to hoping the SE continues down a decent path and answers some questions we have. Also hoping Skyheart and Leopardfur have a sister bonding moment where Skyheart apologizes for how nasty she was as a kit. (Also, just something as a side note, I am very tired of this 'foster siblings being bullies' trope. It was down with Twig and Violet and Broken. Can we just not???)

They really zipped past kithood and the apprentice days!
I also loved the friendship between Leopardstar and Sunfish.
And what the heck, Hailstar! He keeps letting cats push him around, it's embarrassing.

If there is one scene that I know will be in this book, it will be Hailstar's battle against the rats and losing his last lfe. Leopardfur was there for the battle.

Can I just say that scene between Leopardkit and Skykit was insanely messed up? Like even by Warriors standards that scene was just...something.
It bothers me a lot too, how it's essentially glossed over too. I'm just...wow. That's quite something Erins
