Kida brushed her fingers through the sand, amazed by how white it seemed. The sand in most other places she’d been was dark and muddy. She dared not touch it most of the time, too afraid it’d stick to her skin or drag her into the murk. But here, she dug her arms into the sand with no worries, watching as it billowed up into the water around her. It was a clear blue, unlike anything she’d seem before. Most places she’d been living with her pod had been in the open ocean, too deep and too dark to keep the sun. She liked it here. Unfortunately, the rest of her pod wasn’t here to enjoy it with her. She pursed her lips, eyes narrowing slightly as she dragged herself through the water, her tail gently swaying back and forth in the current. It was warm here too, that was another thing she liked. It was still just as empty as the open water except for the sandy floor beneath her. There were others here too. Not mer-people but fish and birds sitting in the water above her.
Kida smiled to herself as she swam slowly towards the surface, just beneath a rather fat seagull before quickly, but gently, pulling down on one of its feet. She heard a squad, muffle by the wall of water as it tore from the water and flapped away, its friends following close behind. She bit her tongue, hurting back to the sandy floor next to a giant sea turtle that was slowly making its way to what appeared to be a beach. She followed, hooking her webbed fingers over its shell. It dragged her along without a complaint for some time until they were closer to the beach. She murmured a goodbye to the turtle before returning to the surface, even daring to poke her head above the water. For a moment, her chest ached as she became used to the fresh air. Blinking the water out of her eyes she scanned the beach. It was mostly remote besides a foot trail leading up the steep hill that enclosed the area. After a few minutes of waiting she inched closer, then closer, finally pulling herself up onto a dry, flat rock.

Jazzi had been sitting on the couch, going through a small stack of paperwork as she looked for another job to take. Most of the letters she could tell were nothing to be concerned with, there were always false claims, and there were certain signs in the way letters were written that clued her in. The last thing she needed was to sully her reputation by taking a false lead and hurting an innocent person. Really, if a creature wasn't actually causing trouble, she preferred to leave them be. It wasn't until something drove them to act out and attack that she usually answered.
She stopped at the next letter. It reported a number of recent disappearances and a concern that a vampire nest might be forming. It sounded like something of a challenge... not really something to tackle head on. Still, a vampire nest was a serious thing, and if the claim was correct, it couldn't be ignored. She got up, starting to gather her things together to prepare for a long stay far from home. Nests were usually hard to locate, and she'd only seen little ones before. A large nest could take weeks to find and eliminate all of its branches.

(Most likely. I suppose since they know each other ahead of the start of the rp, you should know Jazzi is 5'8" African-American, likes orange coffee, sports, and is somewhat competitive and terrible with healing magic..)
