call me maybe both brought carly's career into life and killed it at the same time. because call me maybe was such a joke and people seem to universally hate it (except fans of carly) even tho it isn't a bad song. and i feel like it's just popular to hate it even if you do like it. kind of like nickelback so now people see carly as a joke and then her newer stuff doesn't do as well.
and also the universal hatred of popular pop music doesn't help her that much either.
and i feel bad because she's really gr8 and i wish more people knew that she was still relevant.
the amount of people that don't know she has a newer album out and just dropped new music is just sad.

tbh i always thought that call me maybe was actually a good song, it was just a shame that it got overplayed so it got on people's nerves i mean i'm a sheltered home schooler so when i heard it for the first time i was like "why does everyone hate this it's not bad at all"

Aaaa, this tea. Even though critics rightfully LOVED Call Me Maybe (the fact that it was the most critically acclaimed song of 2012? the others could never), so many pretentious and uptight "real music only lel xoxo" listeners had a disturbing vendetta against it and still do. Anyways, she's found a niche as an indie and ACCLAIMED pop queen. Other people's faves could NEVER reach the immense ravings that E•MO•TION or even E•MO•TION: Side B got/will get. xoxo

call me maybe is a certified Bop and does not deserve the hate it gets. and i love carly tbh, she's adorable, unproblematic, and has a beautiful voice.
