Creature Q & A:
Q: What type of supernatural creatures can we RP? A: Well, the creatures focused on in the series are lamia [born vampires], vampires [turned], werewolves [not giant wolves like Twilight or Professor Lupin but the "old styled" werewolves], witches/wizards [females are more powerful in the sense of hierarchy and there are less males], and shape-shifters [have only one form].
Q: What makes the lamia so special? A: The lamia descend from the first vampire ever [read the book for more information on the original vamp] and are able to stop their aging whenever they please as well as have children. Turned vampires are frozen at the age they were turned and cannot reproduce. It is also best for humans to be turned before their twenties since they may reject the vampire blood and become a ghoul [it's kind of like a zombie without the urge to eat brains... Or any urge at all except for violence and being super strong]. Overall, the vampires are abnormally beautiful [though all of the creatures have a supernatural beauty to them] and take on a more predatory appearance when their fangs show [lip curl, shining eyes, paling skin, etc.] It also takes multiple swapping of the blood to turn a human.
Q: Can vampires [lamia or turned] have powers? A: Yes, sir/ma'am! Well, it isn't really anything crazy and they all can do the same things but some are better at certain aspects of their abilities whether it's natural talent or perfected with age. The abilities that vampires possess include strength, speed, telepathy [not really mind reading but more like mind conversations], and mind control [works best over dim-witted, tired, or weak humans. Only the best can control other Night Worlders].
Q: "Old styled" werewolves? A: Yeah, that probably wasn't the best way to phrase that... I mean they get taller, wider, and A LOT hairier. Their pupils take up most of their iris [though not as much as a vampires'], their body is covered with a thick coat of fur, claws and teeth elongate, and their face becomes longer to mimic a wolf. The finishing touched are their ears and a fluffy tail. The werewolves are actually kind of looked down upon by vampires and pretty territorial so watch out!
Q: What powers do the witches have? A: This one is sort of similar to Harry Potter in the sense that they use spells and potions but their magic can lash out when they're mad. The only exception is that they don't use wands [sorry ^^" ]. They can't bring the dead back to life or anything but they have Circle Daybreak [recently reformed and believes humans and the members of the Night World can coexist], Circle Midnight [more dark than "bad"], and Circle Twilight [more neutral towards humans/"good"]. There is also the Inner Circle which is the council crowned with the eldest witch, the Crone, and enforce the laws of the Night World over their people. Also, some spells aren't meant for maidens and young wizards to perform [but that's what makes it fun >:3 ]. Most specialize in a certain craft whether it's making charms, potions, seeing the future, or having some sort of connection with the Earth. There are some witches/wizards that aren't aware of what they are and think they are human. Some lost witches are never found but others are and introduced to their powers.
Q: Okay... But what about the shape-shifters? A: I thought you'd never ask! So, 'shifters only have one animal form but it can literally be anything you want. The shape-shifters are born with their animal form linked to them but royal blood 'shifters can choose their form since they are not born linked to one but once they choose it, they can't go back and change it. They typically feel uncomfortable in their human form and feel more free in their animal form. Actually, while they're shifting they feel liquid and as though they have no form [that's a simplified version of how it's explained in the book]. Their appearance also sometimes can give away what they really are by hair color or the way they move [which is usually pretty gracefully].
Q: Do we absolutely have to choose from these creatures? A: Ehh... I'd like it if you did but the series did have glimpses of other things. There was one with a ghost and another that had a dragon but they are super ancient and rare [also, they're pretty dang evil]. Ghosts are typically only brought back on Samhain by the Inner Circle and dragons are pretty much extinct since they were power-hungry. But, if you want to RP a dragon, just know that their power resides on how many horns they have on their head and they can only be killed by having them chopped off. Oh! And Old Souls are a thing, too! They're reincarnated humans so they're super wise.
Q: Are there any hybrids? A: Lost witches are technically hybrids since they have both witch blood and human blood [but witches are pretty much humans with powers so...] and there weren't any other hybrids in the series except for a lamia-human. The lamia-human hybrid had the speed, senses, and abilities of a vampire but she had to eat regular food due to her human side and would drink blood to sustain her vampire powers or they would fade.

Night World Universe Q & A:
Q: Are there any rules for this fictional reality? A: Yes! The few that I remember include: humans cannot know of our [supernatural] existence, no falling in love with a human, no turning humans without consulting the elders, and... That's pretty much all I remember. I'll update this when I read the series again.
Q: Why can't humans know? A: Because even the supernatural beings get paranoid but I wouldn't blame them! Humans used to kill their people constantly just because they feared them [though, I wouldn't blame them for that either].
Q: But... Why can't they fall in love with each other? A: I honestly have no idea.
Q: What happens if a human does find out? A: Well, they either get killed along with the lover [and sometimes family] or, if you're dealing with the Inner Circle, you'll have your memory wiped. On other occasions, the Night World isn't aware of a human finding out and they may become a hunter.
Q: Hunter? As in hunting supernatural creatures? A: Precisely. What? That's it. They are highly skilled and efficient killers with their own secret society and double lives.
Q: [Clearly not asking a question.] A: AMAZING QUESTION! Each creature is symbolized by a black flower and some even have clubs [though they can be... Bad news]. Right, so, the flowers are these: witches are symbolized by a black dahlia, lamia vampires are symbolised by an iris, made vampires by a rose, and werewolves are symbolised by a foxglove. I don't remember there being one for shape-shifters but I'll do some research and see what I can find. They typically allow others to identify them with shirts, pins, jewelry, and/or tattoos of which flower symbolizes their species.
Q: Can you explain more about the Circles for witches? A: I will admit, Google had to help a sister out on this one. Alright! So, Circle Twilight is fairly neutral and usually don't tamper with the lives of humans or dabble in darker magic. Circle Midnight is quite the opposite [thought not always] and typically play around with some darker things than they probably should if they're a part of the younger group. Circle Daybreak believes that humans can coexist with them and won't harm them anymore out of fear or hate; they actually want to teach humans magic and allow people of the Night World to fall in love with them [totally crazy, right!? Yeah... Didn't think so either...] but they have only recently reformed so they are a much smaller circle. The Inner Circle is only for the most powerful and eldest members. The three highest positions of the Inner Circle are as follows; Maiden, Mother, and Crone. I'm not entirely sure how the other two are decided but I know that the Crone is the eldest witch alive [therefore she must be the wisest so why not make her the head of the council?] and typically gets the final say on things.
Q: Why is Circle Daybreak so special? A: Well, they go against what the Night World laws state. They want humans to know about their existence and even teach them about their lifestyles. This circle isn't just for witches, though. Any species, whether Night Worlder or human, can become a part of Circle Daybreak to support the belief that humans should be made aware and it is okay that they fall in love with creatures of the night.

Soulmate Q & A:
Q: When do they know they find their soulmate? A: Every single one is different. Some feel sparks, others feel pulls towards one another, and others get this warm pink mist around them like they are the only two in existence [those are a few examples from the book].
Q: Why can they see into each other's minds and how? A: Alrighty, so the only time the book really ever goes into this is when it's a relationship with a vampire. When feeding [whether just drinking or exchanging blood for a turning] they can see into the other's mind. It's usually connected with colors, shapes, feelings, and sometimes even smells. Example: a gentle girl has a warm mind without any edges while and cold boy that has a shell around him may have a wall and sharp edges with dark spots if they've had a dark past.
Q: Are there any human-human or creature-creature soulmates? A: Sadly, no. I don't believe there are any connections like that in this universe but, if you really want to, I'll think about it. Just because they may not have that "magical" connection doesn't mean two humans can't be together though. Regarding the creature-creature relationships, they never really had this since the series focused on creature-human relationships [hybrids included].
Q: Is there anything else I should know? A: Why, yes, yes there is! So, other things that the soulmates experience [again, usually with a vampire] is seeing a chord stronger than steel pulling the two together whether they want it or not. It's kind of like the wire that connects their souls to one another. Alright, I'm done being cheesy... But it's pretty dang adorable.
Q: Do our characters have to follow this Soulmate Principle? A: Nope! You don't have to have your character find their Soulmate as long as you want. They can also fall in love with someone that they don't have this connection with if that's what you'd like. It's all up to you!
Q: Do they all have to be heterosexual couples? A: Not at all ^^ you can have any pairing you'd like. I'm an open-minded person so not all characters have to be straight or identify by a certain gender. If you personally prefer heterosexual couples [for whatever reason, I don't judge] then you do you, boo. The book only focused on heterosexual couples but I think that was to avoid offending any readers so I'd like to mix things up a bit here.

Other Things I Think Are Important:
I know this was above but it might get lost in everything else so...
Anyways, there were a few other things I wanted to address about the Night World series but I didn't exactly know how to phrase them in the Q & A above. There is more going on in the world than humans and creatures falling for each other. The world is changing around them and only the members of the Night World are aware of this since the Soulmate Principle has returned. Not only are rules being broken left and right, there are people rising with a strange ability and only five [at least I think that's the number] have it. These individuals can release a blue flame that burns everything out of it's way or blast a boulder to rubble. It is pretty powerful stuff but can only be released when blood is flowing. This became a piece of the plot in the series and I think it'd be fun to use after RPing for a while.
Another valuable piece of information is that there are hidden places for people of the Night World. There is an island that is hidden from humans and sticks with its olden ways like the Colonies but women are much more oppressed. Only certain men can leave the island and it's typically to deliver mail or bring in... Sustenance. As you can imagine, "sustenance" comes in the form of humans but that's because there are only vampires on the island. There is also another hidden location in a valley with an obsidian castle and Night Worlders rule over human slaves that they bring in from the outside world. This is something that we could dabble in later on as well since I don't want to complicate everything right from the start.
