The sounds of kids screaming on the boardwalk was distant, but still able to be heard, even up the hill. Honestly, it was such a normal part of life in Ross that to Sav, it was a comforting noise. The sound of freedom from that prison called "school." Education, smeducation, right? Who needed it! Then again, she had a personal joy of mathematics, so who was she to talk? It wasn't like she was doing intense calculus with the Muskrats anytime soon. She was thankful they only occasionally made jabs at her odd affinity. The girl stretched as she stepped out into the sunlight. Well, it was actually cloudy, yet still bright as ever. "Hey, what'd you get on that APUSH assignment?" She spun on her heel to face Jonnie, eyebrow quirked. "I actually put some thought into this paper, you know? Actually was dedicated, felt a little somethin' in my heart for it. Then he gives me a C! Swear to god, Mr. Ringer has the most painfully accurate name." She scrunched her nose as if in disgust, leading the way to the beat up old pickup truck she drove her and her sister to school in every day. It had lovingly been named the Deer Slayer, for obvious reasons, although the blame for that went to her cousins.
Bobbi didn't understand why the middle school had longer hours than the high school. They had the same number of classes, only a short bit longer. Didn't they always say they were trying to prepare them for the "huge" jump to high school? So why were they being coddled? It made no sense. Not to mention, she wanted to leave. Sav always told her that the teachers were talking BS when they said everything was so much more difficult and scary in high school. She knew it to be true too, what with the Muskrats mostly being high schoolers. Even if she was only 12, Bobbi felt that she was ready for that kind of challenge. Unfortunately, she did not inherent the family book-smarts, instead being much more practical. Need to know how to set up trap to catch rabbits only using a piece of string? Bobbi has you covered. This is what she occupied herself with, internally groaning as she sat in the back of her english classroom, staring out the window and eagerly awaiting to see Sav's truck pull up to signal the end of the day.
Being a ferryman was an every day job. It meant she had to awake early, and sleep late. Though, it had the benefit of being able to sit around all day long after the initial taking-of people to Ross Island. After that, she was on call, if any emergency arose where people needed to be transported quickly to or from the island. So, basically, Talli was bored and currently sat in the harbor, sun tanning. Laid out on a chair on the deck of Corvus, she had sunglasses on and eyes shut underneath, free to be annoyed by any passerby.
"You might want to get some experience before you try at that kid." A few months ago, Weston had been working to become a PI. He wanted to help people in a bit more personal manner than your average officer, and get good pay, too. Yet, here he was, in a tiny town, filing mind-numbing paperwork. Nothing happened here. Nothing interesting, really. Not even the tourism brought much interest. Some rowdy behavior, perhaps, but otherwise it was all icecream cones, honking boats, and sparkling lights. Really, the detective should have been thankful. It meant no one was in trouble. Weston sighed, leaning back in his chair, which earned a squeak from it. Perhaps he needed to make some friends. Surely that could liven things up, right? He glanced around the office. RPD only employed a few officers, and he had honestly been too afraid to approach any of them beyond what was necessary for work.
[ These are really bad whoops eli is open to go run into people lol ]

I'm here for thirty minutes so why not. I have study hall first period anyway and lunch. This post is going to probably be painfully short.)
Gil was already at his car, another old car, this time a jeep. He worked at his dad's garage, so even though he had an old, aged car, it was lovingly taken care of. He was, too, probably the reason Sav's beat up truck still ran, since he was happy to tinker around under the truck's hood for her for free. Usually after school he met up with Sav and Jonnie, even though Sav left to get Bobbi, they'd usually find a way or place to meet up, all being Muskrats together. Unfortunately he was usually late to the game since he had to pick his little brother up from the nearby elementary school on most days. Gil was standing facing his windshield, books scattered across the hood of his jeep, flipping through a notebook. He was obviously waiting for Jonnie and Sav so they could all talk about their day, even though usually it was filled with moans and groans.

Jonnie looked up at the sky, eyes half-closed as they drank in the warmth of the afternoon. This was their time of day and it was tempting to just lay on the pavement and bask. However, they'd seen quite a few nasty things take place in this parking lot and they knew deep down that the blissful warmth simply would not be worth it. Having only been half-listening to Sav this entire time, they suddenly realized she had asked a question and desperately tried to come up with an answer, "Uhh... I don't remember?" It was a weak attempt to hide their lack of listening skills and Jonnie knew it, wincing slightly as they prepared for the accusation.
Wayne sat at his desk, one foot propped up on an open drawer as he methodically finished filling out another traffic incident report. You'd think the deer would learn to get out of the way of speeding vehicle, but apparently not. With a sigh, he closed the thin file and slapped it onto the pile that he'd completed. His desk was an absolute mess, with several files in various states of completion scattered across the worn wooden surface, several stained with coffee rings after a few harsh late nights. It had been busier than he liked lately, he preferred it when this little town was quiet and peaceful. It meant he could sit back and enjoy some extra time with his boy. However, he had a few more reports to complete before his patrol later in the evening, so he leaned forward and began to get back to work, hand flying over the page as he scrawled down as many details as he could.

"Eh, complainin' bout your grades again, Sav? When are you just gonna accept the fact that you suck at APUSH," Risher commented as he followed the group outside, hands tucked into the front pockets of his jeans with annoyingly casual air, looking way too composed for a kid who just got out of a long day of school. With a dramatic flourish and twist of hand, he gently rested it on her shoulder long enough to flash her an irritating grin. "Although to be fair, I think Mr.Ringer gave everyone bad grades, especially since that kid went off on him," he scoffed with a shrug before flicking a finger-gun at Jonnie and turning and leaning his butt up against Gil's car to check his phone, not bothering to ask or address the guy. "Are you guys busy today? I think my dad's working late."
Fayez wasn't quite sure what to do. His work was closed for the week for renovations, and with all this time on his hands he was practically drowning in complacency. Usually he didn't hang with the Gulls until after he was finished up there, and now he simply had no idea where the others went right after school. Standing perched on the curb like a watchful bird, he held his hand flat up to his head like a visor and fished the crowd for the sight of one of his friends, face slightly pouty with the effort. He'd already texted a few of them, but so far he'd gotten no response.
Wallis understood quite well why middle school was so long. It was for torture, to keep the kids from being let loose on the quiet town of Ross. It was all just to give the adults an easier time, which he really thought was unfair. As if he generally followed the schedule rules anyways, but considering he'd gotten in quite a bit of trouble lately he was patiently sitting in class, watching the clock tick agonizingly slow. His phone was dangerously low on battery, therefore meaning he'd have to find some other way to entertain himself for the last ten minutes of school. With a quick glance around the room, he pursed his lips and drummed his fingers on the desk as he craned his neck. Wallis wasn't exactly the greatest at making friends, so he really had no one in the vicinity to talk to, except for the blonde head a row across from him. Of course Wallis wasn't super great friends with the girl, but he liked to believe that he and Bobbi got along, for the most part. Pressing his mouth into a flat line, he leaned across his desk and waved his hand in front of her. "Yooo watcha staring at?"
"Got another one here for you sir, try not to get crushed," Kimi commented as she swept past Wayne's desk, carefully placing another report on top of his current precariously-balanced stack. It had been another painfully long day without much excitement, and the atmosphere in the station was beginning to grow rather slow and drowsy. It gave others an excuse not to talk to her, but she hated feeling like she had to wade through molasses just to relay some information to another officer or even the front desk. The slight irritation was obvious in the quirk of her brow, but she tried to smooth it over as best she could, waving at him before passing to Weston's desk. She still didn't know too much about the guy beyond what he'd briefly introduced, and it felt like he hadn't spoken more than a few professional words to her since. She quite appreciated that, but found it awkward interacting with him when she hardly knew a lick about him. "Need you to sign this form for me," she commented, holding a slip out to him, one hand on her hip.

"God I never thought I would get outta there" Riley spoke, mostly to herself as she quickly left the school building, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear she took a glance at the small wristwatch on and sighed,, 'I have some time before work' She thought to herself with a small shrug. Riley was a member of the Gulls, but despite that she did have a life outside of the gang her work, school and gang life never did seem to agree with each other in terms of schedules so whenever she did get that lucky day with an hour or two left until her shift at the diner started, as she continued down to the parking lot she felt her phone buzz in her back pocket indicating that she had just received a message from somebody. Stopping in front of her older pale blue car she pulled out her phone and smiled a bit, "Ohhh Fayez must be bored" She said with a small smile before responding with a text reading "Where are you?".

I just got up thirty minutes ago rip my reply)
Gil merely looked up from his notebook to acknowledge Risher before returning back to it, not saying hello either. Personally, he would have found it stupid for them to exchange pleasantries - their entire friend group was way past it. "Ringer gave me a B," he said with almost a sour note; Gil was astonishingly school-orientated, so Ringer's class usually put him in a mood if he got a grade that wasn't what he was expecting. "I have to get Brandon once the elementary kids get out, but after that, I'm home free." Like Sav had to get Bobbi from middle school, Gil had to get his younger brother most days, and Gil's father texted him halfway through a business law class telling him he had to pick his brother up. "Other than that, I should be good. I'm not working a shift at the garage."

As the group began to form up in the parking lot, Jonnie grinned and offered finger guns back to Risher, though the other kid had already moved on. So they shrugged and leaned against Sav's car, twiddling their thumbs impatiently, "Come on, can we just go break the twerps out early? I wanna hit the beach!"
Wayne looked up as Kimi approached, mustache twitching as he grumbled his annoyance. He took the report and slid it onto one of the other piles. These young cops, always pawning the hard work off whenever they could. A brief moment came where he was tempted to throw the file at her back, but it soon passed. He was too old for this anyways and he didn't want to deal with another crazy coworker. So he let out a long sigh and went back to work, albeit at a much slower pace this time. He was no longer close to being done, so there was no point in rushing. He could finish the rest tomorrow if he wasn't fine in time.

"My brother is not a twerp, he's a perfect little copy of me, which means he's certainly something but not a twerp." Gil said, not looking up at the sound of Jonnie's voice. He finally finished his writing and flipped shut his history notebook - Gil wasn't sure if he could afford to go to college after high school was over, but everyone knew his plan to go to school to try to be a history teacher. This wasn't necessarily something expected of the school's infamous Muskrats, so he often didn't broadcast it to students. "If you guys want to hit the beach, I can pick up Bobbi, Sav. We'd just have to run back to my place to drop off my brother." He came up to lean against the jeep's grille, crossing his arms. "It's up to you, but I'll have to be late either way." Gil's eyes flicked to the face of each in the group, awaiting for an answer, expecting a brush off from Sav.

Having been held up by a teacher for wearing "inappropriate clothing" once again, Alexa sauntered over to the group in the parking lot a bit later than she had wanted. The blue and grey backpack she had hung off one shoulder and she wore a scowl on her face as she was wearing a tank top under her jacket rather than the crop top she had came to school wearing. "I heard the word beach from the exit, how soon can we get there and away from this hell?" If there was one thing that could fix Alexa's mood, it was hanging out with her friends. She didn't really care where as long as it happened and everything would be fine. Brown eyes glanced over each of the people present, evaluating them like usual though there was more warmth in her eyes as she did this than there usually was when she looked at other people.

[ nah, in that case i might just make a person who usually runs away for days on end, then just shows up dead so i dont have to rp another character lol just gonna reply with sav for now not to freeze everything up btw, is gil a muskrat? im gonna add charries in a bit ]
Sav pouted, giving her best friend a whack to the shoulder. "Head out of the clouds, bro. I asked about your APUSH paper?" When instead Gil answered, she gestured towards him with a dramatic air. "Ya see? He wasn't even paying attention and he knew what I was talking about? Step up your game, dude, I might have to find a replacement." Her grin and playful wink made it clear she was only joking. Give up Jonnie? Preposterous! Ground her and take away her tv, her phone, her computer. But, as her father had figured out, it was more trouble banning her from her friends than taking any luxuries away. Her head tilted slightly as the ranks showed up, listening to the conversation. Couldn't help but snort when Alexa showed up. Getting dress coded seemed to be her talent. "You'd think they know we're pretty immune to skin in a beach town." Turn to Gil, she jerked a thumb in the vague direction of the boardwalk. "Yeah, that would be great! We're just gonna head down to the beach. Meet us by the pier, yeah? And if Bobbi gives you any trouble just... I don't know, kidnap her." She gave an exaggerated shrug. "So! Who wants to go spy hotties on the sand?"

Gil snorted, picking his black bag up off the jeep's hood and slinging it across his wide shoulders. "Good, I can kidnap a twelve year old girl." He paused, frowning. "Wait, or is she thirteen? She's definitely not eleven. Whatever. I'll text Bobbi and tell her I'm getting her. Like I said, we'll probably be thirty minutes late, I have to drop my brother off at the garage." Gil's father was a mechanic, yes, who fixed the rich people's fancy boats and cars, although Gil worked on a ton of the cars, but never the boats. If he was allowed to, his dad could probably cut his work days in half. "Regardless, she'll get to hang out with the most attractive of our bunch, so I think she's winning," he joked, wanting to see Sav's reaction. By no means did Bobbi like him - in Gil's mind - but he would love to see her reaction to that statement.

Alexa rolled her eyes but smiled at the comment Sav made. "At least they gave up on my tattoos since their mostly covered," she pointed out as she walked over to her baby blue beetle. Opening the truck she pulled out her crop top from that morning and pulled off her leather jacket. Glancing around she went into her car and changed shirts hoping no one was looking. It felt weird not wearing a crop top since she always wore one. Stepping out of her car grabbing her ukulele from her passenger seat, she walked over to the group and played a bit absently. "I wonder how much money I can get this time from tourists. Last time I got like twenty bucks." The idea of going to the beach to "spy hotties" was also a bonus, but Alexa just liked to play music on her little blue ukulele while hanging out with her friends. A simple thing but it made getting dress coded everyday not as much as a pain.

Risher only half paid attention to the rest of the conversation, used to drowning out school complaints by this point. It was nothing new with the group, and he wasn't about to talk about his own poor grade. No no, his pride called for more interesting ventures, and he simply waved a hand to Alexa when she showed up. Though distracted on his phone, he lifted his head up at Sav's suggestion and cracked a grin. "Spy hotties, huh? A very creative quest, but I'm down for it," he hummed, standing up straight and glancing between the group. "Although I'm pretty sure I can barely count the hotties in this town on two hands."
Fayez looked meek where he stood, feet perched on the curb of the sidewalk, nearly stumbling when he heard the chirpy notification of his phone. Fishing it out of his pocket, he grinned at the screen and typed a quick reply to Riley. At least someone was there to rescue him! Im standing near the entrance, he replied before crouching down and tugging on the sleeves of his jacket whilst searching for his buddy.

"I second that!" Called Gil, who had went to the backseat of his car, clearing a spot for his brother to sit, since he assumed Bobbi would be sitting shotgun, where most of his passengers sat. "There's like, what, four hot girls in the entire town?" He pulled his head out of his car, jabbing a finger at Jonnie, Sav and Alexa. "I am not counting you guys. I would never try to get into your pants, it would just be weird the next morning." He ducked his body back into his car, pulling out a large swim bag and throwing it into the cab of Sav's truck, since if he kept that bag in his car, he wouldn't have a backseat. Plus, he doubted Sav would really care.

Jonnie immediately jumped on the idea of a beach trip and hopped up into Sav's car. They ignored her threats of replacement. Sav would never, not unless they did something completely and utterly reprehensible. However, Gil's comment drew an uncomfortable look and they reached up to fiddle with their bun, "So we gonna go or just sit here all afternoon?"

With her phone still resting in her hand she fumbled with the keys to her car, dropping them once caused a hushed slur of profound words to escape her lips, but once she was able to open the door and sit in the driver's seat she smiled. Riley quickly turned on the AC and buckled herself in before she opened up her messages and typed Okie Dokie Fayez I'll be there in a moment c: She replied, turning to see if her path was clear she reversed out of the parking lot and drove to meet up with Gauze.

Risher raised an eyebrow at Gil as he reached for the door to Sav's truck, his grin stretching wider. "Oh, are you insinuating you'd try and get into my pants? Because honestly, it's about time you offered," he snorted with a wink before climbing into the backseat as Jonnie literally always sat up front. The privilege of being the best friend provided many perks. He made a little heart with his hands at Gil for good measure before waiting for Alexa to sit beside him. "To the beaaaachhh."
Fayez drummed his fingers on his knees patiently as he waited for Riley to show up, wondering where the others were. He had no clue where they usually met up right after school, or if they did at all. Did they only meet later because of him? That would really suck. He shot a few waves and gave a few fist-bumps to the classmates that passed him, stretching his legs out and humming a tune, only perking up when he finally saw Riley's car.

Alexa grabbed a bag from her car quickly with her swim suit and a towel in it she made sure to have in her car and locked it. Sliding in next to Risher, she began to softly play her ukulele humming along. "The beach is the best thing about this town. That and the tourists." The last part was more because of her habit of playing for money on the boardwalk which kept her from having to get a job. There was a smirk on her face as she finally registered what Risher had said to Gil and Alexa shook her head slightly. This was what she loved about her friends though.

Sav rolled her eyes. "Thirteen in November. Good luck trying to convince her of that. Pretty sure she still sneaks a pocket knife around so uh, maybe watch out for your "gorgeous" eyes, yeah?" She smirked, pushing off of where she leaned against his car, sauntering over to her own and hopping into it, as everyone else seemed to be doing. She supposed she was the designated chauffeur for the day. Pulling out of the parking lot, she commented, "Well, see, even if tourism is dying down now, there are still potential hotties we haven't seen yet, who will be gone in a mere few days! It would be awful if we missed out on that." Once they were safely out on the short road towards the boardwalk, she shot Jonnie a momentary look of concern.
Eli let out a shaky breath as he pushed through the front doors of the building. He had gotten all pale and anxiety ridden during a test today, and the teacher had kindly allowed him some extra time after school. He wasn't too confident of a good grade, but at least he finished the thing. Momentarily stopped to blink and adjust to the lights outside, brown eyes glanced over the surrounding area. Was that Fayez? Normally, he booked right on out of school for work. Immediately feeling a little refreshed at seeing a friend, he jogged over beside the boy. "Hey man! Why're you hangin' out here?"
Practically jumping out of her seat, Bobbi offered the teacher a quick, apologetic grin, settling herself back, comfortably, in her seat. Once a moment or two passed, she glanced over to the source of the frightening hand and voice. "Just... bored." She shrugged, speaking in a quiet hiss. Honestly, the rest of the class was doing the same- last class of the day, after all -so she wasn't so concerned about disrupting anything. Normally, Bobbi was a pretty good student. "Why do you care?" This girl certainly had a talent to make perfectly amicable phrases sound perfectly rude. Her tone was pointed, almost accusatory. "Since when do you talk to me?" It was a genuine interest to her. Wallis had only ever spoken to her when it was a necessity, such as group projects. Otherwise, he kept to himself. So what was the new development?
Eyes lifting, trailing up the paper, then flicking towards the face that the hand belonged to, Weston gave a curt nod. "'Course," his brow momentarily furrowed in a "I am in business mode, totally not bad at talking" expression. He reached up to take the papers from Kimi's hands, giving it a quick skimming, then signed off, handing it back to her. His smile looked forced, accurately chalked up to how much fun he was currently having. "There you go. That all you need?"
