I really don’t get people saying that he’s a bad/absent father because he doesnt comfort Blossomfall. If my 25 year old daughter got all upset because her mother was paying more attention to her disabled sister, I wouldn’t be running to comfort her either. Seriously, encouraging that behavior is worse parenting. Imo he still could have tried to at least comfort Blossomfall and try to change her mind. Comfort her that Millie does care about her and all of that personal stuff. Me and my sister are the same situation as Briarlight and Blossomfall. My parents aren't comforting her at all and it's making her hate herself and me since I'm the one with the medical condition. Her bf and me have to help lift her spirits up to see that she's important to our parents, and that they do care about her, and all of those stuff. One positive comment/word can change someone and make them stronger it's better to say/do something than to watch them fall and turn into a mess.

If my 25 year old daughter got all upset because her mother was paying more attention to her disabled sister, I wouldn’t be running to comfort her either. Seriously, encouraging that behavior is worse parenting. My own biological dad wasn't there for me ever since I was a kid. He didn't help pay for child support and he spent most of his time drinking and being stupid. It took him losing his me for years to finally see his errors and realize how shitty he acted and I saw he was abusing people. I don't need him, even disowned him as my dad, or at least, I lost a lot of respect for him as a father-figure, but I can live just fine without him, just like how Blossomfall doesn't need her own mother, but you're shitty if you're not there for your child when they need you. What Millie has done was abuse, and it's wrong. I understand she's stressed about Briarlight, but if both parents didn't do anything to comfort Blossomfall after returning from the tunnels while she was injured, then yeah... that's shitty parenting. You can comfort someone in pain without praising their behavior. Comforting someone lets a person know you still love them. And this is why Blossomfall feels unloved, because Millie has never been there for her ever since Briarlight broke her spine. Blossomfall was humiliated in front of the whole Clan. Tbh, I'm neutral on the entire situation in general, but I'm tired of people bashing on just Millie for being a shit parent, while Graystripe really isn't any better and just sat back and watched her getting humiliated. Both parents were terrible about the situation, and Gray really should've just comforted his daughter when she needed him. I like Millie but I get why people hate her now.

If anything, I sympathize with Blossomfall the most nowadays. She's very independent, and I'm glad she made amends with Millie instead of holding onto shit. But the damage Millie has done will be there permanently, even after making amends. Blossomfall's brother pretty much left her for Dovewing, and Bumble even judged her for joining the Dark Forest and claims she doesn't deserve forgiveness, Graystripe was never there for her, while Millie humiliated her in front of the whole Clan. On top of all of that, she lost her own sister, who fought a hard battle to survive the wild. Blossomfall's life sucks. I used to dislike her but not anymore now that I see a different side from her. She's very interesting for a background character. I'm not a BlossomxIvy shipper though, I can't see it, but I like her with Thorn and I'm glad she's happy now. She doesn't need anyone.

And people really need to stop using "bad writing" as an excuse for a character's shitty actions, imo. The father wasn't there, period. Doesn't matter if it's bad writing or not.

??? just because we dont see graystripe comfort blossomfall doesnt mean it didnt happen off-screen. there seems to be a strong assumption that if you didn't read it = it never happened, when that's not how that works-- ESPECIALLY for a minor character whose POV we do not follow.
again, we would only see these things if they were relevant to the narrative/plot somehow, and whether or not graystripe privately comforted blossomfall or defended her against millie's snappy temper isn't relevant to the story; the relevant conflict was millie's lack of attention for blossomfall and how it affected her, because thats what drove her to train in the DF. how graystripe handled it was not focused upon and thus we have no way to know if/how he did.

Exactly this. I see people calling out Millie for being a shitty parent but no one ever calls out Graystripe for his absence. I don't think he's abusive, no, but being absent is not... good. Especially if your daughter is shamed in front of a group of people. Millie literally called Blossomfall worthless and didn't even care that she was injured from the tunnels if I remember correctly (or was she comparing her to Briarlight? I can't remember, but either way, I'm pretty sure Blossomfall felt like shit). Graystripe should have stepped in and say "Shouldn't you be concerned about our daughter? She's hurt" at least it showed he gave enough of a damn to try to hint out his daughter's injuries. No, Blossomfall didn't follow the rules, she didn't handle shit right with her sister, but she should have never been humiliated from Millie. I feel sorry for Blossomfall, she has a shitty dad who's never there for her, and a mother who mentally abused her. Blossomfall does not need her mother's attention, but she deserved to feel loved, and neither parent gave her that comfort after that humiliation. Millie never sympathized with her injury, Gray never confronted Millie for her screaming, or never sympathized with Blossom. He just watched his daughter and did nothing. That's shitty parenting. And this is coming from someone who LIKES Millie.
