He is the most prominent out of the three only in so far as he has an idea in mind for a deputy replacement, but he isn't particularly more intense than Mousefur or Cloudtail when it comes to derogatory statements during that scene at all. In fact, the scene goes by with either him echoing them or them echoing him, it's basically a pair of statements every time except when Ashfur is trying to prop up Dustpelt as a deputy. Trying to prop up Dustpelt as a deputy is his one unique trait there, I don't think his racism is being emphasized at all since every time that comes up it's with an echo or as an echo with Cloudtail and Mousefur. may be remembering wrong but what stood out to me was the descriptive verb used for ashfur: sneering. while they may have all been saying the same sorta stuff, ashfur was depicted as having the worst attitude of the three with this word. unless im remembering wrong.

Don't get why people think Ashfur had some strong defined personality before. He was literally generic background warrior #7, hardly even a character tbh, and would've stayed that way if they hadn't done the love triangle thing with Squirrelflight.

Textbook case of what I'm going to call Swiftpaw Syndrome where a character doesn't have that much characterization but there's a perception due to fanon that there was more to it. Advantage in being a jerk. Ashfur isn't given many more descriptives than they are.

i understand your points, vector, and they make sense. but something is still rubbing me the wrong way. i just can't quite pinpoint what.
i never had a strong opinion on ashfur before, during, or after his incel madness, so i don't think it's simply a projection of who i wanted his character to be. but i can't articulate what it is, so i don't have an argument.

They really did him dirty. He wasn't this bad until the Squirrelflight drama.

I don't really mind it. He's consistent enough with how he was in Sunset after Squirrelflight friend-zoned him. Looking back at TNP after reading PO3 has always made me think that he was putting on his best face for Squirrelflight but then started to show his true colors after she proved to not be romantically interested in him. What really gave me that impression was how soon and drastic his change was. He attempted to murder Firestar pretty soon after her rejection. He'd have had to been pretty messed up to go so far so soon after something as small as a friend-zone.

Who wants to bet later it will be revealed that he tried to frame WindClan with that rabbit?
