The question is: Did you used to be one? Come on. Tell the truth. You can be honest here. This is a safe space to admit your past mistakes .... a noooo judgment zone. Okay, well, maybe a lil judgement, but all in good fun. ;P
I didn’t think I was until I dug up some embarrassing comments 11-12 year old me wrote on online forums that I had completely forgotten about ... many, many years ago. 🙈
(By “Rabid Ashfur fangirl/boys” I’m solely referring to those of us who, in the past, have defended him adamantly, as if he were “misunderstood” and did nothing really wrong .... I’m NOT talking about those, like myself now, who simply love Ashfur as a character or acknowledge that he’s complex.)

I wasn't, honestly, Ashfur's character never made a huge impact on me, I didn't even give him a second thought, until he started being discussed a lot on here.

No, 9 year old me was pretty competent at figuring out that an attempted murderer is probably a bad person.

I always preferred Brambleclaw to Ashfur (and I never liked Brambleclaw either) so not really. But I can't say I blame the rabid Ashfur fans considering Vicky was one herself.

Didn't like either as a choice cause of Stormfur, but I much prefer Ashfur over Bramble, especially now, in terms of interest in characters.

i was never a "fan" of him. i was pretty neutral. but probably one of the few then and still now who sees argument for his starclan placement while still acknowledging the things he did as horrible.

I was never a fan of him even as a younger person who heard of the books through DA and got my info through amateur fanart of the fire scene. I see art of one one cat trying to burn three alive because he got rejected, not hard to think someone's bad from that first impression.

I've always disliked him.

I read the books out of order, so I originally didn't understand the context for Hollyleaf killing Ashfur. So I was mostly neutral, sort of liked him for a little. Then I realized that I'd missed something.

I used to defend him on the old forums but now I just like him as a villain. That won't stop me from dunking on him for being a weird little incel cat though.

Nah. I don't hate his role in the story, though, and he is responsible for making the last two books of PoT into some of my favorites in the series.
But he is crazy and he needs to go down.

I read PoT first and never noticed him until the fire scene. Then it was on to hate for hurting my poor baby Squirrelflight.

I still think we need to see what happened between him and Hawkfrost before deciding much. I feel like it's hard to judge his character to a full extent unless we saw something from his POV. I currently have no thoughts on him because I would like to see more of him from his point of view or even Hawkfrost's (I want to see what Ashfur was told, exactly, and how he was convinced to try to kill Firestar). As a character, though, I think he is a good villain or at the very least anti-hero. Well, bad villain because he failed at everything, but good as an anti-hero because while he didn't kill "Squirrelflight's" kits, he certainly thought of it, and even hurt Lionpaw during training. Lionblaze didn't even grieve for Ashfur in a genuine way and had to pretend to and admitted he wasn't close to him as a mentor and apprentice would be even before he attempted to murder him. I like how it was shown that Ashfur had issues from early on.
In all honesty, I have no opinion on Ashfur right now. Too complex for me to decide lmao.
