One of the things that's annoying from warriors is that no one is mature enough to sit down and talk. And I'm almost certain that if most cats did this without yelling at each other or blaming one another, most problems might be handled in a healthier way.
I don't like how these books gives off a weird example on how to handle things. For example, it bothers me how everyone pretty much guilted Crowfeather into talking to his son but it was perfectly fine for Nightcloud to run off like a coward and abandon Breezepelt when he needed her the most. Nobody wanted to communicate and Breezepelt almost lost his mother because of this. Can you imagine how he would've handled it if Nightcloud actually did die? And all because these two aren't mature to sit down and talk until the end of the book.
Ivypool and Dovewing are both terrible at communicating and that's why I can't stand them. Dovewing abandoned everyone and didn't tell anyone about them. She left everyone worrying about her. And Ivypool is just as awful about it. She stops talking to Dovewing and avoids her. She has done this since she was a paw. If both sisters actually acted like grown adults and sat down and talked about what's going on, I think the situation might have been handled differently without anyone yelling or blaming each other or running off without a notice. Dovewing and Ivypool are both perfect examples of lack of communication. Because of this, their relationship turned very sour. I feel like if they both actually respected each other, things might have been handled differently.
Bumblestripe and Dovewing. Dovewing never told Bumblestripe why she didn't want to be with him anymore and I think that's why he still pads after her. She doesn't tell anyone anything. We see from her head as readers that she's not in love with him but Bumblestripe doesn't know that. So he's reasonably mad that Dovewing betrayed him and her Clan for ShadowClan, although I still think he's a weirdo. But I understand him. In his head, he thinks Dovewing is great because she saved the Clans. He probably started to like her after she saved them from the beavers. So after they broke up, it came off as nowhere because she never told him why. He wants to give them a chance again, and then she leaves, only to return and announcing that she's leaving her Clan. He's really bitter and sour, and this must've really hurt him. I think if Dovewing simply explained why she doesn't love him anymore, he might have left her alone and understood her, and things might have been handled differently. BUT it was still an off-putting move of him to ask for her kits when they weren't even together anymore. Ugh..
Sandstorm and Firestar are both perfect examples of HEALTHY communication. When Sandstorm was jealous that Firestar was still seeing Spottedleaf, they all talked about it like adults. No one blamed each other for anything, no one avoided each other or abandoned one another. Everyone talked about it like an adult and respected each other's feelings. Spottedleaf stopped seeing Firestar after he told her that he loved Sandstorm and not her. Spottedleaf also confirmed to her that he loves Sandstorm and she knew that. This was healthy because nobody acted like the victim. This is a good example of how communicating should be.
I wish more families or siblings communicated better. It became so bad later in the series and I'm getting tired of the same repeated issues. It's so boring and unpleasant to read about.
