okay here are the WIPs for my kids
Champion of Apollo
Lucien Fairfax | 17 | Male | 5’10 | 160 lbs | The Rebel
“Anger is red danger But a familiar stranger"
Lucien’s abilities perhaps seem rather contradictory to his personality, but then so does everything about his guide, Apollo. He is the group’s healer - healing is the main ability given to him by Apollo. However, to heal any other member of the group will result in pain for Lucien, and will drain him of energy. He cannot heal too many people at once as a result of this, as if he uses the power too much it escalates from causing Lucien simple pain to physical harm. He’s also got enhanced accuracy (given that Apollo is an archer) but honestly it’s up to you if you think it’s advisable to trust Lucien with a weapon. He’s hotheaded, snarky, rebellious, and hasn’t the slightest clue why Apollo chose him. He’s sarcastic and kind of a loner. However, though Lucien isn’t the kind of person who likes to have a lot of friends, he is fiercely loyal to the friends he does make and very protective. He’s also very principled and has a clear sense of right and wrong. He might be an asshole about it, but he usually does the right thing. His history? He keeps that to himself for the moment.

Champion of Dionysus
Laurent ‘Laurie’ Bevin | 21 | Male | 5’11 | 160 lbs| The Hedonist
"If music be the food of love, play on”
Laurent, better known as Laurie, gets on very well with his patron, Dionysus. He’s loud, fun, rambunctious, and likes to party. He chases pleasure even if it’s at the ultimate expense of his wellbeing or involves rejecting reality. On the surface he seems egoistic, but perhaps he isn’t as selfish as he seems. If the group was a family, his role would probably be the fun uncle. He is surprisingly paternal in nature and protective of the group. His history is as yet unknown.
Laurie’s main power is affecting the mind, since Dionysus is the god of madness. He has some telepathy, but it’s very limited and Laurie doesn’t really know how to use it yet. There was also a deal made by Dionysus with the other guardians that Laurie is not able to use his telepathy on the other champions unless they are willing. He also has the ability to give people short-lived visions or cause confusion. Once again, much like hypnotism, Laurie cannot use these powers on the other champions if they are unwilling.

Champion of Hera
Dillon Fillery | 18 | Male | 5’9 | 155 lbs | The Mediator
"Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, But bears it out even to the edge of doom”
Like his guide Hera, Dillon values trust and loyalty. While he is usually sensible, level-headed and diplomatic, disloyalty and betrayal is one thing that he cannot forgive. Though he is slow to anger, it’s a fierce and vengeful anger to incur. He has a jealous and petty streak, but he cares very deeply for those around him and has a nurturing, caring spirit. He’s perfectly sweet most of the time. His history is as yet unknown.
Like Hera, who broke Artemis’ bow and sent the other goddess to the earth in two blows, Dillon has enhanced strength. Not to anywhere near the same extent as, for example, Ariella, but it’s there. However, Dillon must genuinely want to cause someone harm or protect someone for his patron’s strength to manifest. His other ability is cursing; if (and only if) he feels true genuine anger or desire for vengeance, he has the ability to curse another person. Or so Hera has told him; he has never yet used this ability.

Champion of Heimdallr
Chiara Belcher | 18 | Female | 5’5 | 120 lbs | The Observer
"The only problem with seeing too much is that it makes you insane"
Chiara Belcher is intelligent and articulate. She is relatively quiet, though; this isn’t out of shyness, she just prefers to observe. Chiara has a strong sense of calm and patience and doesn’t like to rush into things, being a bit of a perfectionist. When she does speak up, she tends to surprise people with her brutal honesty. She doesn’t consider it a problem if other people can’t take it when she calls it like she sees it. She is also very curious, and combined with her observant nature it often means she comes across secrets that she perhaps shouldn’t. Like Echo, Chiara also acts as a guardian of the group. Her history is as yet unknown.
Heimdallr gave her enhanced senses; she can see movement more easily and she can even see a little better in the dark. She can also hear and smell better and has heightened sense of touch and taste. Chiara does not have her patron’s foreknowledge at this point, but she does have heightened intuition and sense of danger. However, this is not 100% reliable and she cannot use her ability to ‘scan’ for danger. Furthermore, she can only generally sense danger; her ability is not specific enough to recognise the kind of danger it senses.

Champion of Hermes
Lane Sherwin | 19 | Female | 5’7 | 130 lbs | The Runaway
"I keep running when both my feet hurt"
Lane is a ball of energy. She is athletic and loves to run, and is also very exciteable in general. She’s also pretty impatient but she’s very friendly and outgoing. She’s also a very optimistic person, always smiling and wearing bright colours. She’s also a risk-taker and a bit of adrenaline junkie. However, her biggest issue is her flighty nature; if she comes up against a problem her first instinct is to run away from it. Due to her abilities, Lane’s role in the group is not only as a fighter but also recon work, transport or acting as a messenger. Her history is as yet unknown.
Hermes gave to his champion enhanced speed; Lane is able to run very fast indeed. She is able to bring with her when she runs either one other person or one inanimate object, nothing more; she can be used as transport to some extent, therefore, but she can only move the group one at a time. Furthermore, to transport other people takes a lot of energy out of Lane. She can run at incredible speeds but she will get tired out and so her powers have to be used relatively sparingly. He has also given Lane some enhanced dexterity and so she is useful for stealth or thievery.

The Mythologies - - - ☆
Greek Pantheon
NB: These do not under any circumstances include all of the deities/mythological figures in the Greek pantheon. For ease this section only includes the main Olympian deities (plus Hades, who resided in the underworld) and any other deities or mythological figures that have been claimed as guides. Please go ahead and be creative with your character choices including minor deities, primordial deities or mythological figures! Also feel free to request for ƤαƖƖαѕ ✧ to add any deities/mythological figures you would like included or to elaborate on any of the myths mentioned in this section. Furthermore, if you have hear different stories to any of these myths, that does not mean this is wrong; myths are told differently by different authors.
Zeus: King of the Gods. God of the sky, thunder, law and justice. Husband (and little brother) of Hera. He is also the younger brother of Hades, Poseidon, Hestia and Demeter. Father of pretty much all of the Olympian gods via various consorts. Also the father of mythological figures including Heracles and Helen of Troy. Well-known for his infidelity and ability to shapeshift. Overthrew his father Kronos with the help of his mother Rhea and his siblings and drew lots with his brothers to determine which part of nature they would rule over - Zeus got arguably the best lot. Symbols include the eagle, the bull and (his favoured weapon) the thunderbolt.
Hera: The Queen of the Gods and the wife of Zeus. Older sister of Zeus, Hades and Poseidon and younger sister of Hestia and Demeter. Mother of Ares, Hebe and Hephaestus among others. Hera is the goddess of marriage, children, childbirth and the family. Well-known for her jealousy and vengeful nature when it comes to her unfaithful husband, and his lovers and illegitimate children; famed for causing the Madness of Heracles. Also, alongside Aphrodite and Athena, one of the three goddesses who forced Paris to choose which of them was most beautiful in the Judgement of Paris. Her symbols include the peacock feathers (due to the myth of Io), the diadem and the sceptre. NOTE: HERA ALREADY HAS A CHAMPION
Poseidon: God of the sea, earthquakes and storms. Younger brother of Hestia, Demeter, Hera and Hades but the older brother of Zeus. He had various consorts, including Aphrodite and Demeter. Father of such mythological figures as Theseus, Triton, Polyphemus, Orion and Atlas among others. After their birth he and his brothers Zeus and Hades drew lots as to which of them would rule over which parts of nature; Poseidon got the ocean. He appears in such myths as the founding of Athens, where he competed with Athena for the privilege of being the patron god of the city and lost. Also famed for his role in the Odyssey, where after Odysseus blinded his son Polyphemus, Poseidon caused storms which prevented Odysseus from returning home. Symbols include the dolphin, horse and (his favoured weapon) the trident
Demeter: Goddess of the harvest, agriculture and fertility. Her rage causes famine. Older sister to Hera, Hades, Poseidon and Zeus but younger sister to Hestia. She had three consorts; Iasion, Zeus and Poseidon. She is the mother of Persephone and (possibly) Dionysus, among others. Demeter is known for her part in the tale of Persephone and Hades, searching tirelessly for her daughter after she was abducted by Hades (or willingly went to the underworld, depending on which myth you read) and filled with grief. Her symbols include the torch, the cornucopia and wheat.
Hestia: Goddess of the hearth, domesticity and the home. The oldest child of Kronos and Rhea; older sister of Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon and Zeus. Rejected the marriage suits of Poseidon and Apollo, choosing to remain a virgin. She became, according to Homer, an opposite force to Aphrodite. There is some argument as to whether it is her or Dionysus who is the twelfth Olympian god, but both have been included in this list for completeness. Her symbol is the hearth.
Hades: God of the Underworld and the dead. Not considered one of the Olympian gods as he resides in the Underworld. Fifth child of Kronos and Rhea; younger brother of Hestia, Demeter, Hera but older brother of Poseidon and Zeus. Husband of Persephone. His children include Macaria, Melinoe and the Erinyes. After their birth and the overthrow of their Titan parents, he drew lots with his younger brothers as to the part of nature they would rule. Hades got arguably the worst lot. Famous for the abduction of Persephone. Hades hates those who try to cheat death, and he spends so much time in the underworld he cares little for the world of the living. His symbols include keys, the serpent, the cornucopia and the chariot.
Athena: goddess of wisdom, battle strategy and weaving. The daughter of Zeus and (possibly) Metis, she was famously born from Zeus’ head. She appears in many Greek myths; for example, she won the competition with Poseidon for Athens. She also aided many heroes, including Perseus, Odysseus, Jason and Heracles. Athena was also, alongside Hera and Aphrodite, one of the three goddesses involved in the Judgement of Paris. In several myths she is seen transforming people; she is famous for transforming Arachne into a spider, and Ovid claims she transformed Medusa into a gorgon. Her symbols include owls, olive trees, the spear and the Aegis (the shield carried by both her and Zeus.)
Apollo - god of the sun, healing, poetry, music, prophecy, archery and other things. He’s a true Renaissance god and was the national divinity of the Greeks. The son of Zeus and Leto, and the twin brother of Artemis. Has many children including Asclepius, Menelaus, Hector and both Orpheus and Eurydice. Also the only Olympic god not to sleep with Aphrodite so, good for him I guess. He is famous as the deity of the Delphic oracle. Famous alongside his sister for the deaths of the Niobids, and he is also famed for his part in the Trojan War. He has a very long and complex mythology, for which this small section does not have space. His symbols include the lyre, the laurel wreath, and the bow and arrows. NOTE: APOLLO ALREADY HAS A CHAMPION
Artemis: the goddess of the moon, the hunt, wild animals and chastity. The protector of young women. Artemis is the daughter of Zeus and Leto and is the twin sister of Apollo, the birth of whom Artemis was said to have helped with. She was known to have been a virgin goddess, but may have had her heart won by her hunting companion, Orion. She appears in many myths; in some myths she was responsible for the death of Aphrodite’s favourite, Adonis (either for punishment for his boasting that he was a better hunter than Artemis or out of revenge for Aphrodite killing Hippolytus, a favourite of Artemis). In another myth she, alongside her brother, killed the Niobids. She was also involved in the Trojan War. Her symbols include the bow and arrow, the moon and the deer.
Ares: The god of war. He is the son of Zeus and Hera. He had several consorts, including Aphrodite, and is the father of Phobos, Deimos and the Amazons among others. He famously was involved in an affair with Aphrodite, who was married to Hephaestus, and the two of them snared in a fine net Hephaestus had made. He was considered very dangerous, and the other gods were wary of him due to his insatiable thirst for blood and love of war. He was, of course, involved in the Trojan War. He is certainly a force to be reckoned with, despite the fact that he appears little in myth. His symbols include the sword, spear, shield and helmet. NOTE: ARES ALREADY HAS A CHAMPION
Aphrodite: goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, passion and sexuality. In the Iliad she is the daughter of Zeus and Dione, but in the Theogony she is born from the flesh of Ouranos (gotta keep it PG for the forums, folks) and arose from the sea, which would make her one of the most ancient goddesses. She has many consorts, including Ares, Dionysus, Hermes and Poseidon but she is the wife of Hephaestus. She is the mother of Demios, Phobos and Aeneas, among others. She is heavily associated with both Cythera and Cyprus as both claim to be the place of her birth. She appears in many myths; she is caught by Hephaestus in her extramarital affair with Ares, she is the lover of Adonis who is gored by a wild boar. In some myths she is tasked with making Pandora beautiful, and she also aided Hippomenes in his quest to marry Atalanta. She is a formidable enemy to anger though, killing Artemis’ favoured Hippolytus for worshipping Artemis (thus pledging himself to chastity) and not Aphrodite. She is also one of the three goddesses involved in the Judgement of Paris. Her symbols include the rose, the scallop shell, the dove, myrtle and the dolphin. NOTE: APHRODITE ALREADY HAS A CHAMPION
Hermes: the messenger of the gods and the guider of souls to the underworld. God of roads, merchants, commerce and travellers. He is the son of Zeus and Maia. Hermes has several consorts including Merope and Aphrodite, and is the father of Autolycus, Evander and Pan among others. Hermes is the one who provided Pandora with lies, trickery and a seductive character. He is known as the ‘divine trickster’ of the Greek pantheon, with one of his most prominent tales being that where he steals the sacred cattle of Apollo and invents the music god’s famous lyre. His symbols are the lyre, tortoise, caduceus and winged helmet. NOTE: HERMES ALREADY HAS A CHAMPION
Hephaestus: The god of metalworking, fire, blacksmiths, craftsmen and volcanoes. The son of either Zeus and Hera or Hera alone. He is the husband of Aphrodite. He was yeeted thrown from Mt Olympus by Hera because of his shrivelled foot, or by Zeus because he tried to protect Hera from Zeus’ advances. He was eventually fetched by a drunk Dionysus to return to Olympus. He appears in several myths, including the one where he catches Ares and Aphrodite in their affair. He is known for creating Pandora on the orders of Zeus. Alongside Athena, he is said to have taught humans the arts. His symbols include the anvil, the hammer, and tongs.
Dionysus: The god of wine, ritual madness, the vine, theatre and fertility. He is the son of Zeus and (depending on the myth) either Demeter, Semele or Persephone. His consort is Ariadne but had many lovers including Aphrodite. He is known as the youngest of the gods. Dionysus appears in several myths. Hera tried to kill him several times (as she makes a habit of with Zeus’ illegitimate children (including Artemis and Apollo), quelle surprise) as an infant but he is rescued by Hermes. Dionysus spent time among mortals (as did Apollo), and even went into Hades to rescue his mother. He is also the one who gave Midas his golden touch, and the one who returned Hephaestus to Olympus, and he married Ariadne after finding her abandoned by Theseus on Naxos. His symbols include the thyrsus, the grapevine and the goat. NOTE: DIONYSUS ALREADY HAS A CHAMPION
Helios: A titan and the god and personification of the sun. He is the son of Hyperion and Theia and has two sisters, Eos (Dawn) and Selene (Moon). He and his sisters drive their chariots across the sky, bringing day, night and dawn. He has many consorts including Clymene and Perse, and he is the father of many children including Circe and Pasiphae. A story for which Helios is famous is that in which his son Phaethon attempts to drive his chariot but loses control and almost crashed into the earth. Zeus had to kill him with a lightning bolt to prevent the destruction of humans and the earth. His symbols include the chariot and horses. NOTE: HELIOS ALREADY HAS A CHAMPION
Achilles - Not a god but a major figure in Greek mythology. He was a hero of the Trojan war and considered the greatest of the Greek warriors; he is the centre of the story of the Iliad. He was the son of the sea-nymph Thetis and the king of Phthia, Peleus. He is famed for having been dipped in the river Styx by his mother Thetis in an attempt to make him immortal, but she was holding him by the ankle and thus that part remained vulnerable. He killed the great Trojan prince and warrior Hector at Troy but was later killed by Paris, who shot him with an arrow in his ankle. NOTE: ACHILLES ALREADY HAS A CHAMPION
Heracles - Not a god but a major figure in Greek mythology. He was the son of Zeus and the mortal Alcmene. Heracles was born Alcaeus/Alcides and had a mortal twin brother named Iphicles. Heracles’s divine parentage was revealed when Hera sent a snake to kill him and the baby Heracles killed it. Hera had tried to prevent Heracles’ birth, and her hatred of Heracles caused his parents to rename him in an effort to please the goddess. This did not appease Hera, and she caused the adult Hercules to go mad and kill his first wife, Megara and his children. Norse Æsir
NB: These do not under any circumstances include all of the deities/mythological figures in the Norse Æsir. For ease this section only includes the main deities and any other deities or mythological figures that have been claimed as guides. Please go ahead and be creative with your character choices including minor deities, primordial deities or mythological figures! Also feel free to request for Leo to add any deities/mythological figures you would like included or to elaborate on any of the myths mentioned in this section. Furthermore, if you have hear different stories to any of these myths, that does not mean this is wrong; myths are told differently by different authors.
Odin: The Allfather and king of the Æsir. Odin is constantly roaming the world disguised as a wanderer seeking knowledge. He leads a tribe of divine warriors, but identifies more with outcasts. He is a god of war, but also of poetry and wisdom. He is represented by his two Ravens, Hugin and Munin (thought and memory). Odin's Banquet hall, Valhalla, is seen as the ideal afterlife and also where Odin brought warriors to prepare for Ragnarok. Husband of Frigga and father of Balder and Thor. Fated to be killed by the large wolf Fenrir on Ragnarok.
Frigga: The Queen of the Æsir, wife of Odin, the Goddess of love and fertility, and the patron of marriage and motherhood. Mother of Balder. She has a reputation of knowing every person's destiny, but never unveils it. Attempted to prevent her son's death by extracting oaths from every object in nature. However, she forgot mistletoe and suffered the loss of her son.
Balder: Son of Odin and Frigga, brother of Thor. A god of beauty, light, joy, purity, innocence, and reconciliation. He was loved both by the gods and by humans for he was friendly and wise. As Frigga had visions about her son's death, she removed Oaths from objects, animals, etc. All in an effort to save his life. However, she forgot mistletoe which the jealous trickster Loki used against him. Balder remains in the world of the Underworld waiting for Ragnarok so he can be reborn.
Heimdallr: The god of light and the guardian of the bifrost bridge. Heimdall's sole dutyis to prevent the giants from forcing their way into Asgard. He requires less sleep than a bird and can see a hundred miles around him both day and night. His hearing so so good he can hear grass grow. He is fated to kill his age old enemy Loki and die from the wounds he suffered. NOTE: HEIMDALLR ALREADY HAS A CHAMPION
Loki: Son of the giant Farbauti and the giantess Laufey, he is considered one of the Æsir but occasionally their enemy. Husband to Sigyn, and father of three monsters (Fenrir, Hel, and Jörmungandr). Commonly known as the trickster god, Loki can shape shift into different forms, is craft, and malicious. He killed Balder out of jealousy and is fated to die by Heimdallr during Ragnarok. NOTE: LOKI ALREADY HAS A CHAMPION
Rán: Wife of Aegir, Giantess, mother of nine daughters (each representing a wave in the ocean), and goddess and personification of the sea. While her husband is the positive personification of the ocean, Rán is the negative and sinister one. She is often described as dragging seafaring people below the ocean depths, drowning them and taking them to her underwater abode. She is commonly depicted with a fishing net. NOTE: RÁN ALREADY HAS A CHAMPION
Thor: Son of Odin and Jord and easily one of the most powerful gods of the Æsir. Married to Sif and father of Magni, Modi, and Thrud. A god of Thunder and a fierce warrior who was favored to protect both the gods and the humans. Thor's popularity surpassed his father, Odin, do to not needing human sacrifices as tribute. During Ragnarok, Thor will fight and kill the giant serpent, Jörmungandr. But in doing so he will die from his own inflicted wounds.
Tyr: The original germanic god of war and the patron god of justice, the precursor of Odin. He is the oldest of the gods and inspires Courage and heroism in battle. He is represented as a man with one hand because the gigantic wolf Fenrir gnawed off his right hand. His attribute is the spear, a weapon and symbol of justice. During Ragnarok, Tyr will fight and kill the Guardian hound of Hell, Garm, but die of his inflicted wounds.
Fenrir: The Giant wolf, son of Loki and the giantess Angrboda, and brother to the goddess Hel and the serpent Jörmungandr. Raised under the care of the Æsir in order to train him not to wreak havoc on the world. However, he grew too quickly and the gods decided it was best to chain him. With two unsuccessful tries, the gods tried the thrid time with the help of the gods. As the wolf was bound, Fenrir bit off Tyr's hand after asking the god stick his hand in his mouth. During Ragnarok, Fenrir will break free of his holds, devour everything in his path, kill Odin, and die by the hands of one of Odin's sons. NOTE: FENRIR IS HIS OWN CHAMPION AND HAS BEEN CLAIMED

Bordeaux, South-West France
The best thing about Bordeaux, the hub of the wine-making region of France, was the nightlife. Or at least Laurent Bevin thought so. It might be more intellectual and serious, with a big student population, but there were plenty of nightclubs to enjoy.
Right now he was in a club bathroom with a couple of his friends, taking the opportunity to talk here where the music was not quite so loud. The bathroom wasn’t empty; almost all of the stalls were full and there was another male seeming to be minding his own business waiting by the door. Obviously he must have been waiting for his own friend.
“Are you going home tomorrow?” his friend asked as the two waited for their other friend to be finished in the bathroom
“Pas encore,” Laurie replied “I’m having too much fun.”
“And your parents don’t care?” his friend questioned with a raised eyebrow
“Haven’t been home in days,” Laurent shrugged
His parents obviously hadn’t even noticed or else they would have texted him. Laurie was not one of Bordeaux’s many students, and so he lived with their parents. Though honestly he might as well not live there since he was barely ever home. He didn’t like to be home. These past few days he’d just been crashing at the houses of his friends.
After a few minutes Laurie’s friend huffed, muttering something about not being bothered to wait for their friend to be done and that he’d see them out on the dance floor. He disappeared, leaving the twenty-one year old on his own.
Well, Laurent had by this point consumed way more alcohol than he probably should have, and it was at that moment that the young man was filled with a rolling wave of nausea and had to rush for the only available bathroom stall, not even able to take a moment to close the door behind him.
But to his surprise, he felt someone holding his hair back and was suddenly aware of a presence behind him. Once he was done, Laurie turned his head to see an older man. The same man who had been standing by the doorway. Tan, with long dark hair and a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Merci,” Laurie said, stumbling over just that one word in his surprise that someone had helped him.
“You really can’t take your drink, can you?” the man questioned with a raised eyebrow
“Excuse me,” Laurent challenged “I find that very notion an insult. I’m excellent at holding my drink. This is a bad example, but-“
“Comment tu t’appelles?” the man interrupted
Laurie looked at him, taken aback for a moment by the abruptness of the question, at the strange evaluating look in the man’s eyes, before he quickly recovered and gave him a smile.
“Laurent Bevin,” he responded “but everyone calls me Laurie. Et toi?”
The man seemed to look at him up and down once again, which made a heavy unsettling feeling weigh down Laurie’s stomach. His gaze seemed to see right through him, for all that he seemed bright and jovial.
“And you say you haven’t been home in days?” the man asked “doesn’t anyone miss you? Your parents, your girlfriend?”
“I don’t have a girlfriend,” Laurent replied warily “and my home situation is none of your business.”
He wanted to leave now, but the strange man was blocking any exit to the room, still standing in the doorway of the bathroom stall.
“The vomiting isn’t an attractive look on you,” the man continued, ignoring Laurie’s question “we’ll have to fix that. But you seem like you know how to have fun, at least.”
“Comment?” Laurie asked “What’s going on? Who are you?”
The man just smiled a lazy smile then, adjusting the colourful jacket he was wearing.
“My name is Dionysus,” the man said “god of wine, theatre, madness, and an all-around good time.”
He stuck out his hand to Laurie who, thinking the guy had to be either crazy or very drunk, took it. The sooner he’d appeased this guy the sooner he could get back into the dance floor and away from him. Dionysus, shook his hand, seeming pleased that Laurie had responded so well.
“Enchanté, Laurie.” Dionysus grinned
Everything seemed to fade then to an endless void of blackness, and Laurie felt like he was falling, his stomach dropping. He wanted to scream but no sound came out, and even if he hadn’t just vomited he didn’t feel like he would be able to now.
It was like the world was both falling but also swirling around him, and the blackness was a far darker and more pure black than any he had ever seen before in his life. Blacker than any night sky.
“I, Dionysus, Greek deity of wine and theatre, have chosen Laurent Bevin as my champion,” it was the same voice as before, ringing out into the darkness as if coming from all directions, “and in so doing transfer some portion of my power onto him. I will endeavour to guide him and protect him in his wielding of this divine power. By my divine authority, let it be so.”
There was a pause then, before Dionysus spoke again. But this time, his voice was less authoritative and chant-like than it had been before. This time he sounded like it was just a causal conversation.
“Oh, and kid?” he was saying “I’d brace yourself if I were you.”
And suddenly Laurent stopped falling.
Only to land face-first on a wooden floor he didn’t recognise.

Amun: God of the Sun and Air. A part of the fusion deity Amun-Ra, Amun is a widely recognized figure in the Egyptian Pantheon. The counterpart to his wife, Amunet. However, he had many consorts, including Wosret and later Mut. With the 11th Dynasty, Amun took Montu's place as the patron deity of Thebes. He is often titled The Hidden One. When Thebes became the capitol of Egypt in later Dynasties, Amun was seen as a patron deity to poor and less fortunate. Often, Amun is symbolized by a Ram.
Mut: The mother goddess, goddess of the sky, and queen of goddesses. She is another patron goddess of Thebes, and a consort of Amun. Her name means Mother and is associated with the primordial water of Nu. She is considered a primal deity. She and Amun had a son, Khonsu. Often, Mut is symbolized by an ankh, united crown, cat, cobra, cow, vulture, or lioness.
Khonsu: God of the moon. He is the son of Amun and Mut, and together with his parents he is part of the Theban Triad. Khonsu's name means Traveller for the moon's travel across the night sky. He is also a creator, and often aids with protection and healing. He is symbolized by childhood, mummies, the moon, and eagles.

Ra's offspring include: Shu, Tefnut, Hathor, Sekhment, Satet, Bastet, Anhur, and Ma'at. His wife is often credited as being Hathor. He is symbolized by the sun.
Osiris: God of death, afterlife, fertility, and life. Osiris is the son of Geb and Nut, and the brother of Isis, Set, and Nephthys. His brother, Set had killed him, however his wife, Isis, had revived him using a spell and had become pregnant with Horus, his son. He is symbolized by the atef crown, crook and flail, mummies, and in some cases a ram.
Isis: Goddess of good fortune, kingship, and magic. She was also considered a protector of the kingdom. She is one of the Ennead of Heliopolis, like her siblings. She was Osiris' consort and queen, and the sibling to Osiris, Nephthys, and Set. After temporarily reviving Osiris after he was killed by set, by using a spell, Isis bore his child, Horus. Using her magic, she hid and protected Horus. She is symbolized by the tyet.
Horus: God of kingship and the sky. His parents are Isis and Osiris, and he is his father's heir. Due to being the God of the sky, the moon and sun are often depicted as his eyes. In a fight to take back Egypt from his uncle, Set, Horus lost an eye. Horus' consort is Hathor, and his child is Ihy. His symbol is the Eye of Horus.
Thoth: God of wisdom, magic, writing, hieroglyphs, judgement, and the dead. Thoth was the scribe of the gods and is seen as the creator of hieroglyphs. Thoth helped guide both Isis and Horus many times, when Osiris was killed, and when Horus lost his eye. His consort is Ma'at, and his daughter is Seshat. His symbols include the ibis, moon disk, papyrus, writings, baboon, and scales. NOTE: THOTH ALREADY HAS A CHAMPION
Ma'at: Goddess of truth, balance, law, harmony, order and justice. Ma'at played a role in creation of the universe, aiding her parents Ra and Hathor. She represented the moral laws that humankind is expected to follow, and represents honesty and balance. The weighing of the heart in the afterlife is done by weighing the heart of the deceased to the feather of Ma'at. Her consort is Thoth, and her daughter is Seshat. Her symbols include scales and an ostrich feather.

The Champion of Thoth- Jason Bates
“Hey kid, we’re closing.”
Jason looked up from the book he was engrossed in. Another book of fantasy and magic. One he had read already. The man that approached him was one he knew. The owner of the Library. He was kind enough to let Jason check books out much longer than most people.
Turning in his seat Jason gave the older man a big smile. Trying to make himself look as innocent as possible. “Let me stay for just a little longer? Just until I finish this chapter?” he asked. He knew he would get his way. He always got his way when it came to the librarian.
The old man looked at him and the book in his hand. The kid had just started on a new chapter. So he’d be here long after closing. Narrowing his eyes he looked back up at Jason and sighed. “Fine. But only one more chapter,” he agreed lifting one finger to emphasis his point and walked away to let him finish his reading.
Gleefully, Jason continued reading. Slower than his normal rate of reading just to kill time and fully engross himself in the story again. He sat there, leaned over his book as the book steadily rose higher into the night. And while most people would be weary and want to rest after a long day, Jason only felt more energized.
But he was too distracted to hear the footsteps approaching him from behind.
“Good book?” The man behind him asked. Jason jumped and spun around to see a man about 5’9” with deep brown skin and long dark brown coils of hair. Stubble covered his gentle smile and his eyes seemed to gleam with an unnatural golden glint. He looked about in his mid 20’s but something felt off about him. And it wasn’t just the fact that he was wearing an ugly jacket.
Hesitating, Jason looked him up and down before deciding to answer him. “Yeah. I mean I’ve read it already but its one of my favorites,” he answered a smile touching his lips as he talked about the book in his hands. Then he seemed to remember the man was a stranger. “What are you doing here? The library is closed.”
The stranger smiled knowingly and took the seat across from Jason. “The same as you. Reading my fill until he really kicks us out,” the man answered a quiet chuckle in his voice as he looked down to read the book in his hand. Minutes passed of them silently reading again before the man spoke again. “But what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be running home?”
Jason paused at where he was in the book and held his breath. It wasn’t really any of this man’s business but… “I’d rather get home when my dad is asleep.” And he left it at that.
The stranger nodded in understanding and studied the boy in front of him. Looking off to the side a thought occured to him. “How many of these books have you read?”
Jason scoffed and leaned back in his seat. He looked around, seemingly counting the shelves and all the books before turning and looking at the man again. “All of them.”
The man across from him looked impressed and grabbed a random book from a nearby table. “So if I asked you to quote them blind?,” he asked and opened the book to a random page. Jason furrowed his brow at the weird way he said it. But, he never got a chance to Finding a line he liked the stranger read it aloud. “ “Look—” he murmured, holding out his arm to stop Malfoy. Something bright white was gleaming on the ground. They inched closer.“
“It was the unicorn all right, and it was dead. Harry had never seen anything so beautiful and sad. Its long, slender legs were stuck out at odd angles where it had fallen and its mane was spread pearly-white on the dark leaves.” Jason continued. It was from Harry Potter there was no mistaking that scene.
Picking up another book and doing the same the man raised his eyebrows at the boy. “Of the king's ship The mariners say how thou hast disposed And all the rest o' the fleet.”
“Safely in harbor Is the king's ship; in the deep nook, where once Thou call'dst me up at midnight to fetch dew. Shakespeare's The Tempest.”
“Impressive. Last one. There is no greater agony…” he trailed off looking at the kid expectantly.
“Than bearing an untold story inside you.” Jason finished once again. But, those words had his chest feeling heavy for some reason. He didn’t expect the words coming from his mouth to impact him that harshly.
The stranger nodded and smiled at the boy. “Maya Angelou.” Setting the book down to the side, the stranger reached out his hand for the kid to shake. “What’s your name?’
“Jason Bates.” He answered slowly extending his hand and taking the other man’s. He wasn’t sure why he had just been quizzed on his knowledge of the books. It seemed like an odd thing to be quizzed on after just meeting each other. And after taking the man’s hand another jolt of energy ran through his body and he was unable to let go.
“Jason Bates, I chose you as my Champion. You will be granted a fraction of my divine power and I in return will guide and protect you until I m no longer needed. So says Thoth, the god of magic, the moon, writing, and wisdom.” The man’s voice echoed through the room as if they were in a cave. Deep and powerful with such weight to the words. As if it were… magic.
Jason looked up at the man and, as if transparently silhouetted behind him, what looked like a bird moved just as he did. What he said couldn’t possibly be true. Jason’s heart was racing and he looked frightened.
Pulling on Jason’s hand gently, the man that called himself Thoth gave him a gentle and friendly smile. “I’ll speak to you soon.” And with that, Thoth let go of the boy’s hand sending him tipping backward in his chair. Falling. Falling longer than he should have.
Until, he landed on his back on cold unfamiliar wood. And complete darkness.

Mount Gambier, Australia
"Miss Ravana, meet me after class."
It was a simple set of words, only six in total, and two were used to address her name, but the words sent an immediate fear into the heart of the 17-year-old female, who nervously pulled at the sleeve of her school uniform. She hated the blasted thing with all she had, but it kept her in a home, gave her an education, and at least made the attention brought to the pitiful girl less than it had been before.
She looked up, from taking her notes in the little journal she kept, to watching the tall, lanky, bespectacled substitute the class had been assigned for that day. He was dressed like he was attending a funeral, and nothing about him made her very comfortable.
Her journal was filled with best kept secrets, and notes on her favorite places. Overlooking the Blue Lake, walking to the Centenary Tower, taking long walks in the forest. All of it kept her mind off of the reality of what her world was, and would always be.
Despite the hushed whispers of the class, mostly talking of how creepy the sub was, and what stupid crap other students could get away with, Luka kept to her silence, impatiently tapping her pencil against her journal page. She had so much to write in it earlier, but now all that filled her mind was thinking back on her day and what she possibly did wrong.
It hadn't even been a full minute since the substitute, named Mr. Fenrir, had told Luka he needed to talk to her, and yet the bell was already releasing the class. Many were preparing for winter, with May ending and June soon arriving, and were all too excited to get home and snuggled up to avoid the chillier temperatures that came with winter.
She hadn't moved an inch, and then someone was clearing their throat in an obvious manner, lurking above her like a shadow. Looking up, it was almost terrifying to see the serpentine like smile on Mr. Fenrir's face, and the fact that his eyes were hidden behind shades didn't help any.
"Miss Ravana, class ended minutes ago-" Indeed it had, a quick sweeping glance of the room confirmed it's emptiness, but only left her feeling more out of place than usual. Though he only snickered at her surprised face, slinging a hand over her shoulder as he guided her, much to her dismay, towards the door of the room, "Out, out, I have to pack up my things!"
"Um," Oh curses, she really shouldn't question a teacher of all things, they might call and burden the elder teens, or worse, the daily maids who checked on the group home, but her bloody curiosity wasn't fading, "I thought you wanted to talk to me?"
The man nodded, "Yes, but after I pack my things," she let the topic go, slinging her bag, a well worn one at that, over her back and stepping out of the room with an impatient glare, crossing her arms, and tapping her foot as she waited. However, moments passed of staring at the same beige wall, with the same displays from the Art Classes, and she huffed out.
"How long does it take to bloody pack a bluey?" She grumbled, tapping her fingers against her sling bag, rubbing her hands over the frayed strings.
Laughter emitted besides her, which was odd, because she never heard the footsteps. She visibly jumped, defensive position automatically, and really, who could blame the poor thing? Though Mr. Fenrir didn't seem phased in the slightest, simply stepping forward with a quirk to his lips, "You've got spunk, kid."
Spunk had never been used to describe the little rule-stickler, who chose not to jeopardize what she had in rule breaking, no matter how much she wanted to talk back or vex others who annoyed her. Quite simply, Luka had seen it before, children making the wrong choices, sometimes sent to Juvenile Detention Centers, though she always referred to them as bloody boot camps, the whole lot. No, Luka could never be a social delinquent, not when her lack in family already made her enough of a target, or rather, someone who was and always had been ignored.
"I don't have any blasted spunk in my body, yabber about me to anyone, they'll tell you I'm a piker. And I hate to inconvenience you, but I have heaps of hard yakka to do this s'arvo and-" She paused, taking in the barely concealed laughter Mr. Fenrir was holding it, "What is your bloody problem now, mate?"
"You pronounce every word in careful detail, and then start in on yabber and piker? What does that even mean?"
She blinks, before she facepalms slightly. The bloody teacher is a dill, of all things. Obviously not from around those parts. "Yabber, you know, blabbering about with some ankle biters-?" clearly this is doing no good and is only prompting the man's laughter further. "Never mind, it doesn't matter. You wanted to talk to me, what about, you old mug?"
She found herself, surprisingly, insulting the man in a almost gentle fashion, and his amusement at it caused her to return just the barest of smile.
"You just didn't seem to talk much during class," he's quite perceptive, to have caught onto that. A bit disconcerting that he had kept such a close eye on her. He didn't say much more for several moments, just walking out the door into the light, frigid rain. He seems to be a bit silly and scatterbrained, mumbling about how "Odd the seasons are south of the Hemisphere."
And yet still, he hasn't answered her question. It's like he's specifically trying to annoy her.
"Mate, none of that explains why I'm here in a bloody storm following you like a dipstick," That's certainly more to this man's liking? Newer age comment, though it still seems to glide over his head.
"I never quite caught your name, what is it, dear?" She hates that she can't see the man's bloody eyes behind his sunnies. She hates the bloody things. People should speak where people can bloody see them. She isn't sure at first what to be annoyed more about, the fact that he's dilly-dallying or that he looks like a bloody kidnapper and the school somehow let him in.
Bloody galahs, the lot of them.
"Luka," she grounds out, she would return the question, but she's heard his names and gotten pretty accustomed to the uncultured swine by now.
"Oh, yes, Luka," Bloody hell, he's a murderer. She's sure now, no one just goes around asking teens names dressed in black, leading said kid into an ally where no one will see the kidnapping or murder. Still, she follows, because it's a little late to turn back anyways. "Luka, dearest, what's the worst thing you've ever done?"
Oh, he's going to gut her most precious kept secrets and then gut her. What a great situation to be caught in. Instinctively, she clutches her sling bag closer to her petite body. She's tiny as can be, underweight as well, but she knows quite a few ways to kick arse.
"That's none of your bloody bizzo, mate," she snaps back. Appearances don't matter if she's about to be a bloody carcass, well, in this case of bloody, she means it literally.
"What?" His timber of voice is absolutely mischievous and teasing, and it already grates on her nerves, "Does Luka have a big bad secret she's hiding?"
She's not some ankle-biter, she won't be talked to like she bloody is one.
"Not that I don't enjoy some earbashing, lad, but I have to get-" well, it's not home, and she can't say it is either, so she stops midsentence, and glances away, "Fine, once, back when I was a wee ankle-biter, this swaggie lil' bloke was crackin' onto this lady, trying to get to her Mappa tasie, if I hazard a guess. Lad couldn't take a hint, so I pull a porky, and waddled on up, asking for some moolah so I could go buy some turps for mom. Pretended to be his ankle-biter, poor lad got all red and embarrassed, off his face that he actually believed it, got slugged by the lass too."
Mr. Fenrir chuckled, following along with whatever parts he could, and Luka actually chuckled herself. The caretakers had been so mad when one of the bartenders had to escort her home, and so she never dared repeat a similar instance. "So you snuck out of your house to get a man assaulted at a bar?"
She hummed in agreement, wincing at the cold sting the rain droplets left as they hit her skin. Fenrir himself had an umbrella, of course in matching black color. Though the word house didn't fit at all. Not like she was stuck up on it.
"How many siblings do you have, kid?"
"Oh, I'm not longer dear, but now I'm kid. Have I been bloody demoted?" It was teasing, it was the first time she could openly talk to someone without worrying about respect or silly manners. He was such a teasing figure too. "None, little wee straggler, that's me."
"You must get a lot of attention at home then, don't you?"
She freezes, not really meaning too. She's practically soaked in chilly droplets from head to toe, and hadn't noticed it before, so caught up in talking to the dark-clad man that she didn't even notice how far out of the way she was until she finally took a moment to think.
"Awfully personal questions," she responded, in kind, avoiding the thought of answering all together, though he simply hummed in reply.
"Touchy, touchy," he teased, having stopped as well, "Honestly, you act as if I'm you're long lost father or something."
"No," she passively states, rolling her eyes, and arms crossed over her chest to quell any shivers, "He never came back, wouldn't do so now."
"Oh," he chuckles, and she's glad it isn't shunning or pity, "I guess I could be a cross-dresser too, how about your mum?"
"Bloody hag is halfway to hell by now, probably." She shrugs, before looking at him, "Mr. Fenrir, were you simply seeking somebody to chat up, or were you looking for a bloody victim?"
He full out guffaws in laughter, such a strange man. "Oh, oh silly me!" he exclaims, straightening, "Mortals are so easy to fool. No offense, kid, but there is no Mr. Fenrir."
She blinks, once, twice, and then she noticed something in his hand. Something that she had no idea how he got it, or why he had it. Her journal.
"Today was boring, again. Bloody brats and ankle-biters, the whole lot," his voice takes on a girly, childish tone, a horrible imitation, "The other girls at the group home are about as perceptive as the blasted maids, which is none at all," he continued onwards, before looking up at the short, furious teen, lips curled into a smirk, "IF you hate 'em so much, why not kill them?"
"That's illegal!" She immediately responds, lunging at him to take back her journal. She had nothing to really hide, but she wants to just be done with the conversation as is by now.
"Most people would reply No, not murder! That's morally unjust!" He titters, before looking around, like he's assuring there are no witnesses.
"What in the bloody hell are you doin', mate?" She wanted to punch herself, she likely sounded like an uncultured swine! Bloody man seemed so English and proper, and yet so horrible too.
"Making sure no one's watching," he easily replies, before glancing back at her, mischievous grin still in place.
"I'm about to die, aren't I?" She should be more concerned, really, she should. She was stuffed, however, from her day as it was. Winter always could do that to a bloody kid.
"Not really, but everyone will think you're dead and you'll likely wish you were." He then moves on, rolling his eyes at her startled expression, like he didn't just admit he was going to bloody kidnap her!
"Wait, wait, hold up lad. I'm not about to be another bloody case of murder or kidnapping."
"I'm not murdering or kidnapping you. I'm just...permanently relocating you're residency." The way he draws his words would be otherwise comical if she wasn't trying to find an escape route.
"That's bloody kidnapping-"
"Raluca Ravana-" He starts, voice taking on a much more serious tone, as he tosses his umbrella haphazardly at her, causing water to slap right into her tiny form, much to her chagrin.
"-Wait, how do you know my real name?" She hated the blasted name, how would he know it? Unless he's been stalking her, and she fell into his trap.
"You have been selected by Loki, the trickster god of the Norse Æsir," and Luka hears a grumbled "and the best one" before he speaks up again, "You will become my champion, and in doing so, you will gain a fraction of my abilities. In return, I will act as your guide-"
"Excuse me, mate, but you are the weirdest stoner I've ever bloody met."
He rolled his eyes, the words were odd, and weird, and didn't seem to be natural, "This is proclaimed, and sealed, by Loki, the god of trickery and the great shapeshifter."
She backed up, though she paused as she spotted his silhouette, seeming to dance between several forms. When she went to look at him, all she spotted was a simple snake, staring at her.
"I'm going bloody insane," she choked out, though the snake lunged at her, straight into her arms, despite her attempt to step back, and she immediately felt lightheaded and dizzy. The ground underneath her melted, covered in pitch black, as her skin burnt where her hands made contact with the scales of the wily creature, which was suddenly gone. It felt like bones had shifted, to fit a new purpose, meld as she may need, and the excruciating pain ran with her veins burning like fire.
Suddenly, things ran back into focus, she could made out golden walls, and stairs that she collided with much to quickly to properly land on. She sailed forward, crashing down all the bloody sets of stairs, somehow she had been at the top, and in her ears, she heard recognizable manic laughter.
(Okay, I'll likely get Guinevere up tomorrow but I got inspired for Luka.)

The Pantheon - - - ☆
Overview
The Pantheon is the mansion that all Ascendants share, excluding the Exiles. The Pantheon, in the realm of reality, outwardly appears as an academy and library. However, the doors are portals to the much larger Pantheon, which is located, technically, outside of reality.
Every Champion get's their own rooms, multiple rooms, much larger than they likely need. There's nothing prohibiting them from staying with friends, however. It's more of a chaotic mess, which lacks in proper established rules. Then again, rules are for leaders to worry about. To check this out, keep reading on the the Leadership section!
In regards to the Pantheon, it's the place every Champion spawns at after being chosen. Sometimes, the manner in which they arrive can be painful. Often times, small teleportals can be used by the Ascendants to gain access back to the Pantheon.
Every Ascendant, for the reasons aforementioned, have some type of object that acts as a key to the Pantheon and will activate the portals. While magic alone can be used to identify the Champions, Thoth, Athena, and the other archetypes of the Pantheon have established the keys as security. Losing the key is a very stupid, very dumb thing an Ascendant should never do, but then again, stupid and dumb is expected when kidnapping children into another realm. So there's backup plans.
Rooms
The room an Ascendant gets is built with their deity in mind, but can usually be altered rather easily. It's magic, after all, and surely the gods don't want their Champions to be unhappy. For this reason, the coding to the rooms can be altered, but usually should be avoided. No one wants to offend their guides, after all.
Rooms are large, spacious, and often will fit anything an Ascendant wants or needs. Usually, their rather soundproofed and high security, as many of the Champions are young, and new with their powers. No one wants the Pantheon filled with constant breaking due to a Heracles kid dealing with super strength, and on the flip, no one wants it burnt down due to a Loki kid.
Most rooms are selectively open to a specific Ascendant, unless they change the room modifications to allow unsupervised entrance by another Champion. Sometimes, however, flukes will appear where shapeshifters, or the smarter kids, like Athena's or Thoth's Champions can get in still. Just in case, it's always best to maybe get a physical lock if you want to prevent someone from jump scaring you.
Services
While every Champion can technically fend for themselves, the Pantheon has many nice features as well. While the food is technically made from nether, it still is food. However, sometimes Champions just decide to order take-out instead. Anything works.
As for cleaning, showers, and other such. Many utilities are specific to each room, however some are shares with other deities near the same wing. Not due to an issue with space, there's technically infinite space. Instead, it's an underhanded way to force the Ascendants to actually interact with one another.
Along with some services being shared, it's expected for Champions to train together, have meetings with one another, and do missions together. Sometimes this is selected by their guides, but sometimes it's selected by the Leaders of the Ascendants instead.
Leadership
Current Leaders of the Pantheon: TBD: Champion of // TBD: Champion of // TBD: Champion of // TBD: Champion of // TBD: Champion of //
Nominations for Leaders: TBD nominated by // TBD nominated by // TBD nominated by // TBD nominated by // TBD nominated by // TBD nominated by //
Voting and Selection:
To become a Leader, one really has no say in doing it. The process is done by others. Members of the Ascendants can nominate as many Champions as they like, but have to give compelling reasons for possible leadership. During the meeting, each Champion will be allowed to select three people who they think should be leaders. The five who have the most amount of votes will be leaders.
NOTE: To do this in the RP, we ask that you select leaders based on relationships and preferences of your characters and not yourself, we also ask that you avoid voting all for your characters, and if possible, don't have your characters vote for your other characters more than maybe once or twice. Only a max of 2 characters per person can be leaders, so if you have 3 characters who get a lot of votes, whoever has the least will not be a leader, and instead the next highest vote will be selected. Impeachment:
In the case that a leader is unfavorable to the group, or can no longer serve as a leader, they can choose to step down, or during a meeting, Champions can choose to vote them out as a Leader. This is a similar case for possible Exiles or other issues that may come up.
If a spot opens up for leadership, a meeting will take place, instead of 5, however, only the open number of slots will be voted on. In these cases, each Champion would select 1 nominee for leader.

Joining - - - ☆
Joining
Please use the following for you're forms if possible! Just input information into the code. Please delete everything and replace it with the requests information. Everything that should be deleted will be in parenthesis!
Please keep all forms on one post, and put the final code back into an insert code box. That way, it's easier for us to add you into the RP!
When done with at least one or more forms, please tag me(@/lynxleap), Leo(@/leopardheart) or Pallas(@/semper). If you're adding a character, please notify us, instead of reposting more forms.
Remember, there is a character limit of up to 5 Ascendants, and up to 5 Exiles. Please don't choose all female, or all male characters. It doesn't have to be equal, as realistically, genders are going to likely be unequal, but don't join with all of one gender. Please try to make characters also unique and individual, with room to grow as well! Make sure to check out The Mythologies to see which deities have been claimed. Lastly, don;t just join with a bunch of filler characters, you can have just a few and be fine, it's expected that every character be given attention.

An Introduction

Well, it had been a pretty bad day.
Lucien Fairfax liked to think he had a pretty strong moral compass, at least in general he did. But at school some kid had made fun of Lucien’s clothes, which were old, falling-apart and one or two pieces were a little too small for him. He didn’t have anything else at home. Their argument had escalated into a fight, and in the end the police had gotten involved. He hadn’t gotten arrested, per se, but they just wanted ‘a chat at the station’ as they called it.
Which was why Lucien found himself sitting in a starkly lit ‘interview room’ in the local police station. He was on his own so far; an officer had brought him in and then left, saying someone would be with him soon. That had been about ten or fifteen minutes ago.
He had been boredly watching a flickering light when he heard the soft click of the door opening. A relatively young police officer walked in; he was tall, with wavy blonde hair and striking blue eyes. He was carrying a file in his hands, and Lucien watched with disinterest as he took a seat at the other side of the table.
”Alright,” the officer began “Lucien, isn’t it? Lucien Fairfax?”
”What, forgot who you had in here in the last ten minutes?” Lucien questioned
”Son, look at the size of this file,” the officer replied “nobody could forget as big a pain in the ass as you.”
”Getting a little insulting there, Officer... Blunt.” Lucien replied as he read the officer’s badge
He sat in silence for a few moments as the officer flipped through the file.
”Today’s incident,” Officer Blunt began “do you know what you did wrong?”
”I don’t think it’s wrong to stop a kid from running his mouth,” Lucien shrugged “he was insulting me. I warned him, told him to back off and he didn’t listen. It’s wrong to mock somebody for the clothes they wear. You ask me, there was nothing wrong with what I did. He was asking for it.”
”So you don’t think you did anything wrong,” Officer Blunt replied “but you sure as hell didn’t do the right thing, now did you? So I’m going to ask you again and you’re going to stop being a smartass. What do you think you did wrong?”
”Lost my temper,” Lucien muttered “there, I’ve had my slap on the wrist, can I leave now?”
”You go when I say you can go. Lucien, you are here like twice a month, it’s got to stop. You need to learn not to lash out, you have to control your temper. Remember that a sword is more powerful in the hands of a calm fighter than an angry one.”
As he spoke, Officer Blunt put his hands on the table in front of him, and on his wrist Lucien caught sight of a small tattoo of a sword in golden ink. He was sure he could see another tattoo peeking over the collar of his shirt but not enough for him to tell what it was.
”Is that why you have your tattoo?” Lucien asked “to remind you of that?”
Officer Blunt just chuckled lightly.
”Something like that.”
The officer then flicked back to the front of the file, looking through Lucien’s information. That felt a little invasive, but oh well. That was why the file was there, anyway.
”I see you’re in a band,” Officer Blunt commented, a note of appreciation in his voice “what do you play?”
”I used to be in a band,” Lucien corrected “and guitar.”
There was a ghost of a smile on Blunt’s face for a moment before he went back to reading through the file.
”You can’t keep getting yourself in trouble,” the officer tutted “I mean, what would your mother think if something happened to you?”
”The school called her five minutes after the fight, and she’s not here at the station right now,” Lucien pointed out “put two and two together, man, she doesn’t care.”
Those words seemed to spark something in the eyes of the officer, a kind of triumphant glint appearing in his eyes as well as em evaluating kind of curiosity. His eyes seemed strangely to almost glow. But as quickly as the moment began the officer returned his gaze to the file.
”Perhaps you should try healing people instead of hurting them,” the officer murmured quietly as he flicked through the file
”What?” Lucien questioned, having not quite caught what Officer Blunt had said
”Nothing,” Officer Blunt replied, a smile on his face now “you’re free to go with a warning, I’ll escort you out.”
Both men rose to their feet, but then Blunt stood in front of the door. He seemed to be checking they were out of view of the cameras in the room, and when he turned his head Lucien caught the tattoo he hadn’t been able to see before; a lyre.
Right now, Lucien was concerned by the fact that the man was blocking the door and seemed to be looking him up and down.
”Hmmm,” he murmured “you enjoy black a little much for my liking, but that’s not important. All I know is I need to choose someone and quite frankly, you’re all I’ve got, kid.”
”I’m sorry, Officer Blunt, what the hell are you talking about?” Lucien questioned
In response, the officer grinned a mischievous grin.
”Officer Blunt doesn’t exist. God, it’s been years since my exile on earth. I’ve missed it. I spent years as a slave here, you know.”
”I’m sorry, what?” Lucien asked “Who are you?”
Current theory was a crazy guy impersonating a police officer.
”Ah, right, I’m getting ahead of myself,” the man replied “I have many names. Phoebus, Pythius, Acesius. I am he who can build walls just by playing his lyre. I am a slayer of giants. But most importantly for the purposes of a young delinquent such as yourself, I am he who purified himself of the sin of murder, who makes men aware of their guilt. And believe me, you’ve got a lot of guilt to get through.”
As he spoke, the police uniform seemed to fade like an illusion. Instead, suddenly the young man was wearing a normal t-shirt and jeans. He wore around his neck a necklace of dark, raw amber. But he seemed to glow more than ever, though strangely Lucien couldn’t see the light. It was as if an entirely different sense than that of sight was picking up the glowing coming from the man.
”But you can call me Apollo,” the man smiled
Suddenly there was a blinding white light, so bright Lucien could no longer see the room around him. Apollo’s voice filled the endless space around him, but it sounded infinitely different. His voice was like music.
”I, Apollo, god of the sun, music, healing, poetry, archery and prophecy have chosen Lucien Fairfax as my champion. I hereby bestow upon him some portion of my power and will endeavour to guide him in the use of these abilities for so long as I am needed. I’ll also endeavour to help him not be an asshole. By my divine authority and the power of Zeus, let it be so.”
Suddenly the light was gone, and a disoriented Lucien found himself crashing onto an unfamiliar wooden floor.
