It's occurred to me recently that one of the reasons I love Power of Three and specifically Dark River so much is because of all the young apprentice drama. This was only possible because ThunderClan had NINE apprentices during this time, and every other Clan had at least one relevant apprentice (except ShadowClan, but they did a good enough job at throwing irrelevant apprentices into the mix that it still felt like apprentices existed).
TC: Hazel, Berry, Mouse, Poppy, Honey, Cinder, Lion, Holly, Jay WC: Breeze, Heather, Kestrel RC: Willow SC: A random assortment of irrelevant ones, and then later Tiger, Dawn, and Flame.
I don't know, I just really miss the days when we had so many apprentices. I know a lot of people feel like the Clans, especially TC, are bloated right now, but I think that's because the authors don't care enough. We had so many apprentices in Po3, yet in OotS when all those apprentices were warriors (and medicine cats), we knew who everyone was-- for every single TC character in the allegiances of The Last Hope, you can point to a scene somewhere in the arc where they're important, even if they're overall a background character.
There was a point in OotS where TC had zero apprentices. Zero. And it's seemed that both before and after Po3, having very, very few apprentices (like four and under, according to Bluestar) is the norm. I wish we had more, and that said apprentices actually interacted with each other.
I don't know, just an often overlooked reason for why I love Po3 so much. What do you guys think?

I agree about there not being enough apprentices, right now, I don't think ShadowClan has any apprentices, and they have no new kits either, so it's going to be awhile.

Apprentice drama and friendships were some of my favourite aspects of POT. It’s a shame we hardly see protagonists interact with background characters more in the recent arcs. Not to mention the TPB squad of Raven, Sand, Dust, Fire and Gray were great too.

Agreed completely. This is the same reason why Series 3 is my favourite too. I always go back to it and enjoy these funny little angsty apprentices so much.
