Which version of the warrior code's origins do you prefer?

Code of the Clans, I think it gradually developing over time was realistic and I liked the short story reasons for each code being implemented.

My books are at my other house, how does Secrets say the Warrior Code originated, again?

Code. I think it makes more sense that the warrior code was developed and established over time with a small story as to why said code was added.

My books are at my other house, how does Secrets say the Warrior Code originated, again? SoTC said that the some ancestors broke up fighting between the four leaders and told them to follow the code. Of course, this story has been retconned over the years. It literally got retconned later that year when Firestar's Quest (SkyClan) came out lol.

From that quote alone, I don't think the two are inherently contradictory. It's possible the ancestor was giving some kind of prophecy. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I do prefer a mix of the two. I do feel like Code was a bit more realistic and seeing it drawn out made more sense than some ancestors just handing the entire Code down in one moment, but the Code being entirely made up of living cat's rules seems to contradict our StarClan lore, since the Warrior Code is apparently the word of StarClan. I like the idea that in Secrets, an ancestor told the cats they would live by a code, and then the code was subsequently made by living cats like we see in Code. Just an idea.

Code, of course, as it seems to be the canon version and it makes sense for the code to be introduced one step at a time (although I don't think anything in SoTC suggests it wasn't to my knowledge). However, I like to see Secrets as what the clan cats thought their history was between TNP and POT, as it seems that's when it takes place (SoTC was written after The Sight, but Holly, Lion, and Jay are not mentioned in it but events throughout TNP are).
