It’s no secret that Cherith Baldry is kind of getting old. So the question is, do you think Clarissa Hutton (the one who’s been doing the novellas) will take her place? Or do you think they’ll do an outside hire? OR do you think Cherith will just keep on writing.
Thoughts?

I don't want Clarissa to take her place because we've been with Cherith for so long it wouldn't be the same.

I don't know that Cherith (or Kate) expressed any interest in retiring yet, but it's bound to happen, as I don't see Warriors stopping anytime soon.
I wouldn't mind if Clarissa takes over after Cherith retires. I think she does pretty good work on the Novellas. Her biggest problem was the consistency errors in Redtail's Debt, but that doesn't seem like much of a problem with the main series as she would be more or less handed a script to write, and I like the way she writes well enough.

well cherith is just writing, and a lot of writers keep on working right up until a year or two before they die. she probably won’t retire any time soon

I think Cherith will continue to write for a while yet. If she's still on the team when Cherith does retire, I think Clarissa is the most likely candidate to take over for her.

Clarissa is terrible. Give my boy James Noble a shot.

Clarissa's writing is fine. I think we just need to give her a chance. The others have made errors before, so these mistakes really aren't anything new.

I was thinking something similar. Cherith still seems pretty healthy, but assuming she dies or retires before the series finishes, either she'll be replaced or Kate will continue to work on the series as its sole author.

Writing is a fairly easy job for the elderly. You can work from home and it's not labor intensive. Unless her mental faculties are starting to go or she simply doesn't want to anymore, I can't see Cherith ever retiring. She's been with us since the start and her writing is the same it's always been.
That said, I didn't really notice a difference with Clarissa's writing style. So if she were to take over, I doubt it'd have much impact on the writing.

I think people are more annoyed because of just how major the mistakes have been for the novellas compared to previous ones, like Tawnypelt not visiting the Tribe since Dawn, even though she was part of the group to go in Outcast. Then of course there's the whole thing with RD, among other large errors she's made.

If it comes to the point when Cherith retires, then I wouldn't mind Clarissa taking her place. She just needs to be a bit more careful writing; she's made some pretty major mistakes before such as the Redtail-Oakheart scene in Redtail's Debt.
