It seems like the most popular ship to bash now. Which, fair enough, I can understand, forbidden relationships are overdone and yada yada. But what I like about this one is the awkwardness. There's a lot less of waxing poetic like other romances, it feels surprisingly candid. Furthermore, I think it can really drive home the point about codebreakers and add personal investment. With any luck, it'll lead to the end of that absurd rule.
So for both plot reasons and emotional reasons, I personally like it.

I think the reason a lot of people don't like it is because it seems like Bristle just out of nowhere likes him now, which makes sense. But like you said, I like the awkwardness, and luckily there's three more books, plenty of time to develop their relationship.

i agree with you in that bristleroot feels so...natural compared to the previous forbidden romances. less drama, they speak honestly to each other, for the most part. bristlefrost and rootspring and the clans themselves seem more candid about the whole thing.
everyone was aware of rootpaw's crush, but instead of clutching their chests and yelling about how it's a love too wicked and taboo to even speak of, they kind of came out right with it. "hey, rootpaw, i know you're crushing hard and all, but you probably shouldn't be daydreaming about that thunderclan cat."
i think they could be nice together. i just wish there was more development leading up to bristlefrost's "i like you, too."

I don’t have a problem with it, and honestly it’s been far less strained than other forbidden relationships, but for the first two books it seemed pretty one sided on Rootsprings behalf. Bristlefrost suddenly returning his feelings in that one random scene in VOS felt almost out of character (?) as she’d openly discouraged his feelings not long before.

I really love BristleRoot and (mostly) how it developed so far, but I am a little disappointed how Bristlefrost basically came out of nowhere and said “yeah I have feelings for you.” Hopefully it has better development in DW. And I certainly hope nothing weird/gross happens with this ship, my heart is still bleeding after my previous otp TwigFin.

It's cute, and I'll like it even more if it causes the forbidden mates rule to get abolished.

TBH I've been a fan of it since LS, but it did seem very one-sided on Rootspring's part. I think it's funny how it kinda became a meme in the other clans though. One of the funniest scenes in TST to me was when it was brought up during the gathering in the middle of one of Fakestar's codebreaking rallies and he was like "Guys what's wrong with you I'm talking here!" VOS Spoilers I was pretty surprised when Bristlefrost admitted she felt the same way towards Rootspring, she'd never shown any sign of it before. I hope we'll get more info on how she reached that point in the next book because it kinda came out of nowhere.
I feel like this arc is probably the best one to have another forbidden romance plot tbh. With all of the hysteria around codebreaking, their relationship could add a lot of tension to the story.

I don't like it because it came out of nowhere. Bristlefrost didn't have interest in Rootspring before, so it feels out of place that she likes him.

I found the one sided crush from Rootspring cute, but Bristlefrost liking him back sort of came from nowhere since we never got any hints or suggestions that she liked him back. Unless we see it develop beyond that, I really don't hope they get together.

I feel like Bristlefrost always liked the idea of being liked, even by Rootpaw, but she was so determined to follow the code ( ) That she never would have gone along with it, but I think with coming to the realization that Bramblestar was a total fake and everything he said about the warrior code was just a sham to get his way, coupled with the fact that her first crush is dead really may have changed her view on things. Maybe like a "well there may not be time to tell him how I feel later". It is a little strange that she went from opposing it to actually liking him,, but this was like the first time that they've been alone together where she wasn't afraid of being caught. I feel like she may have had a crush all along, but she was always infant of others and didn't want her classmates to think she was breaking the code. Idk just a thought.

i think it's sweet but that whole scene mightve fit better in the fourth book, so we could have some lead up on bristlefrosts part. as it is right now it feels a bit like she's using him to get over stemleafs death

Forbidden relationships are overrated and often not the best written and developed but I actually like this one. I'm happy Bristle moved on from Stem and developed feelings for someone else. Sure she could've looked inside her clan but if it doesnt go anywhere else to the extreme, I'd find it ok.

I don't get how people find her reciprocation just out of the blue? It was p obvious in The Silent Thaw and Lost Stars that she was beginning to admire him, albeit more of in a less serious way
Also, their momemts are cute sometimes, cringy in others, overall I've a good opinion of it, especially since it meddle too much with the PoVs and plot

I honestly don't mind it at all, but it does seem very sudden for her to return Root's feelings only after her former crush dies.
If they do get together, I hope they at least flesh out their relationship more. So far, I think this forbidden love is the healthiest one yet, but I won't hold my breath since something ALWAYS has to happen to the healthy relationships in the series.

i like it. i think it seems out of the blue because we didn’t see bristle’s opinions on root for a while but i think this was deliberate so that the reader was surprised.
i like how it has developed. bristle wasn’t interested at first but as their friendship grew so did her respect and ultimately feelings. i also like the pacing of it too - not rushed at all.
it’s cute and i like the awkwardness. i also like how both have not really perused it. honestly i’d like it to stay that way and them never be able to be together and be in control of that but i’m not sure that will happen.

Its alright, I guess? I like the awkwardness and how everyone else seems to think they're cute, but that's about it. I think it feels a bit forced on Bristlefrost's end. She seemed pretty annoyed with Rootspring until she confessed feelings that I had no idea she had.

I've seen a lot of people like it?
I just don't like it because Bristlefrost has literally shown 0 interest in Rootspring. At all. Especially not romantic

I personally detest unnecessary forbidden relationships thar drag stories like DoveTiger. But so far, surprisingly this relationship is actually being written well and maturely, and can hold potential in the plot. I'm still personally on the fence about it but I don't necessarily dislike it.
