Which cats are genetically correct? Also, which ones are genetically incorrect? It's not a big deal, it's just something fun to talk about (at least to me)
I'll name five, which I believe are genetically correct, and five which I believe are genetically incorrect, I'll put siblings in the same category.
Correct.
1. Tallstar 2. Mudclaw/Tornear (maybe) 3. Finchkit (Sparkpelt's) 4. Stemleaf/Plumstone...if Thornclaw carries the red gene, because I think he's been described as ginger before, then Eaglewing...Shellfur...if he was girl, then yeah, but him being a male makes it way complicated. 5. Poppyfrost/Molepaw...Honeyfern and Cinderheart, if Brackenfur carries the black gene, but if he carries the red gene, then they're not genetically correct.
Incorrect
1. Crookedstar/Oakheart 2. Barkface/Shrewclaw 3. Flamekit (Sparkpelt's) 4. Rootpaw/Needlepaw 5. Bristlefrost/Thriftear

Correct: Crowfeather Feathertail Stormfur Hollyleaf Jayfeather Ivypool Dovewing Gray Wing Clear Sky Alderheart Violetshine Twigbranch Shadowsight Lightleap Pouncestep Flipclaw Bluestar Tallstar
Incorrect: Firestar Bramblestar Tawnypelt (neither of her parents have white) Squirrelflight (because of her white paw) Leafpool Lionblaze Thunder Sparkpelt Bristlefrost Thriftear Rootpaw Needlepaw Crookedstar (he should be dilute) Oakheart (he should also be dilute) Yellowfang

IvyfalconDoes Tawnypelt have white? I always just thought she was a straight dilute tortie lol. Yeah, according to the wiki she does, and according to her official picture from The Ultimate Guide. She’s not dilute according to those either though. If she has to be a tortie (I mean, I think she should be a tawny color like her name suggests) I’d rather she be either dilute or a brown and ginger tortie, but she’s unfortunately not.

Me too, I miss the day when she was a golden cat, I know it wouldn't be genetically correct, but it would fit her name better lol

Even though it’s not how genetics works, I like the idea of her looking like Goldenflower since Bramblestar looks like Tigerstar.

Yeah, plus, it would have fit the theme of their foster siblings as well lol, like Feathertail looking JUST like Silverstream, and Stormfur looking JUST like Graystripe. Another cat I wish they didn't change the fur color of is Birchfall

Correct: Crowfeather Feathertail Stormfur Hollyleaf Jayfeather Ivypool Dovewing Gray Wing Clear Sky Alderheart Violetshine Twigbranch Shadowsight Lightleap Pouncestep Flipclaw Bluestar Tallstar Incorrect: Firestar Bramblestar Tawnypelt (neither of her parents have white) Squirrelflight (because of her white paw) Leafpool Lionblaze Thunder Sparkpelt Bristlefrost Thriftear Rootpaw Needlepaw Crookedstar (he should be dilute) Oakheart (he should also be dilute) Yellowfang Squirrelflight's white paw is possible. Some cats who have the white spotting gene can have it expressed so little that they appear not white at all. This might have been the case with Firestar, as supported by Scourge also having the white paw and how both Squirrelflight and Scourge have a very small amount of white. Some other cats with white spotting out of nowhere are pretty blatantly incorrect like Mosskit, though Mosskit's siblings are fine. Blossomfall is incorrect but Bumblestripe and possibly Briarlight are correct (Millie isn't supposed to be a silver chocolate tabby but she was drawn that way in the manga, and if Graystripe carried the chocolate gene or even if Millie is a regular silver tabby who carried the chocolate gene given her kitty pet heritage, Briarlight could be possible). There are also a few white cats out there that have non-white parents despite the white gene being dominant, like Snowfur, Moth Flight, and Icecloud. For that matter, all of Windstar's kits except Dust Muzzle have some random white on them that shouldn't be there. Half Moon could at least be possible through the reverse of how Squirrelflight is possible - both her parents have white spotting, making it possible but unlikely that they could both pass down enough white spotting that Half Moon appears completely white. Cloudtail and Whitewing are fine, though. Brokenstar and Raggedstar are both fine genetically, but Scorchwind's orange color is incorrect, and then there is Wishkit and Hopekit with their inexplicable cream and orange colors. And Russetfur is wrong too, even though we don't know her mother - she still has to have inherited the non-red gene from Hal and be either a tortoiseshell or completely not red. That whole family seems to have random, genetically impossible swings between orange and brown/gray. Darktail is impossible, his large amount of white spotting comes from absolutely nowhere.

Yeah, I debated not including Squirrelflight for that reason. I guess she should really go in an “unlikely but technically possible” category along with tortie toms and all the cats with blue eyes and no white.

I thought of some more
Correct
1. Moonflower/Goosefeather, if Rooktail carries the dilute gene.
2. Patchkit/Petalkit/Larchkit, if Mapleshade is calico, if she's ginger and white, then Larchkit and Petalkit would not be genetically correct.
3. Tigerheart/Flametail/Dawnpelt, if Rowanstar carries the dilute gene.
4. Littlecloud, I think that all tortoiseshells carry the tabby gene by default, since they carry the red gene, and you can't have a non-tabby red cat. As for Brownpaw and Wetfoot, it's hard to say, since Brownpaw doesn't have a description (though, I imagine he's brown, but then again, there's a cat who's almost completely white named Blackfoot, so who knows? As for Wetfoot, he depends on if Newtspeck and their father, carry the dilute gene.
5. Heathertail, correct if Whitetail's white is masking the black color gene, incorrect if it's masking the red color gene.
Incorrect
1. Applepaw, two black based cats can't have a red based cat.
2. Juniperclaw/Sleekwhisker/Strikestone.
3. I don't think ANY of Cinderheart x Lionblaze's kits are genetically correct, all of the girls would have to be tortoiseshells/dilute tortoiseshells, and all the boys would have to be gray or black, plus, I'm pretty sure they'd all have to be tabbies, since Cinderheart and Lionblaze are both tabbies..can two tabbies have a solid?
4. Tree, since his mother is grey, he would either have to be grey or black, depending on whether his father carried the dilute gene or not.
5. Yarrowleaf, her father is grey, so at the very least, she has to be a tortoiseshell.

Omg yes! First of all, his parents are GRAY, and then this guy comes out all red...and he has white paws, and I don't think either of his parents have white. It's almost as bad as two red tabbies, having two solid brown cats lol

Warriors is far behond fixing with genes True, let's see about his kits though.. Lightning Stripe - wrong..since her mother is neither tortoiseshell or red, and her father is red, then she should be a tortoiseshell Sleekfur - he could be right. There's no descriptions for the other two, but they're probably wrong.
