I feel like he's a bit under-talked about when it comes to tragic lives, everyone talks about how Squirrelflight and Leafpool have had such tragic lives, but no one ever talks about Birchfall.
1. He lost both of his littermates when he was a kit.
2. He made a good friend, Cody, and he never saw her again.
3. He made friends with a couple of ShadowClan cats on the Great Journey; they're all dead now.
4. Both of his parents are dead, as are ALL of his siblings.
5. Dustpelt, his father, blamed him for the death of Ferncloud, his mother.
6. Dustpelt practically disowned him (though, they may have made up, I don't remember, but when Dustpelt dies, it shows Spiderleg mourning him, but not Birchfall)
7. One of his daughters left to go join ShadowClan.
8. He's never had an apprentice (not really a tragic life thing, but still pretty sad, since he wanted one).
9. He had to have Ashfur as a mentor.
10. Really, the only cats he basically has left are Whitewing and Ivypool, I know he also has his clanmates, but yeah.

Honestly, my man has lived a pretty eventful life. He's among ThunderClan's oldest warriors now. I hope he maybe retires with Whitewing when The Broken Code wraps up.

I've just never cared about him personally. That scene where he was just cool with his daughter training in cat hell didn't sit well with me. His life was pretty bad though.

I agree he had a rough life, though I would argue Ashfur as a mentor isn't a hard part. From what we've seen, other than his tiffs with Lionblaze, Ashfur wasn't a bad mentor

HollyfallYeah, I hope so, I can't believe Whitewing's not an elder yet, when her little brother, who is younger than her children, is already a grandfather. @happy413 Yeah, that wasn't good on his part...though, I found him to be really likeable in The New Prophecy and The Power of Three. *Ottersplash*That's true, didn't Ashfur try to use him as a scapegoat or something though?
