Which cats or plotlines do you think had alot of wasted potential to them? For me, it's Dovewing and just about any cat who was just there to be a love interest for the protagonist, so cats like Violet Dawn for instance.
As far as plotlines are concerned, I can think of quite a few from each arc, but especially if the situation was only present for one book and never really addressed again, like Blossomfall's issues with Millie for instance.

All of AVOS is wasted potential.
Edit: Great in idea, horrible in execution.

I feel like the biggest one that comes to mind is Dovewing, who is now a trophy wife for Tigertwo, yikes.

Almost any cat's love interest. Romance is not the series best plot points.

Ferncloud. She was doing so well as an apprentice, her battle and hunting skills actually at work, only to be shoved aside as a permanent queen when she could have become Fernstar had they let her go after having Spiderleg and Shrewpaw. Like if you're gonna have Birchfall eventually, fine, just don't stay in one corner for years waiting for him Ferncloud never read like a leader character anyways so I don't see her not being a Warrior to become one wasted...

Turtle Tail. I hoped Gray Wing and Turtle Tail were going to be a power couple with this great, slow-burn, romance spanning over DOTC. The new Firestar/Sandstorm. But instead ... she gets mercilessly killed in book 3, while trying to save her kits from her abusive ex-mate (which is so insanely sad)
Nearly all the characters in AVOS. Alderheart, Sparkpelt, Twigbranch, Violetshine, Tree, Darktail.
I also feel like we were robbed of Firestar’s POV at the end of OOTS.
Dovewing ... and Ivypool, to a (much smaller) extent. I loved her plot line with the Dark Forest I just think it had the potential to be so much more.

Dawnpelt and all of her children. Also, everything in OOTS. That whole arc was a trainwreck

Lionblaze! He had so much more potential than he was given. His mentor was ashfur, and we never saw their relationship. The entire Tigerstar training sessions were just awfully executed, and his love life (Heathertail and Cinderheart) felt incredibly forced.
Tawnypelt. She had so much going for her in TNP and TPB, should’ve been given a POV. I like her, but she needed more spotlight, especially her friendship with Feathertail.
Hawkfrost. Other than his daddy issues, he was so unbearably bland. His relationship with Mothwing, Sasha and Ivypool were never really explored in too much detail, and those were the only interesting things going for him.
Mapleshade. Do I really need to explain this one? I thought her being a female villain was great.... until I read her novella. It was all over the place tbh. I enjoyed her in Crookedstars promise though, but she didn’t need to be shoved into Tigerclaws Fury.

Snowkit. I had hoped that he could have become a good warrior, despite his disability, proving Bluestar wrong about him. But, then he died.

The last three books of AVOS was wasted potential. All it was, was waiting for Tigerheart to return. Ridiculous. Darktail should have stayed alive a little longer.

Honestly Stormcloud in general. By the time his arc was done he was just almost nonexistant as a character. If they kill him now he would literally have died without doing a thing.
I would've loved for him and Cherryfall to get together considering it was implied he had gained a crush on her but that NEVER went anywhere and that frustrates me. I was hoping during AVoS there'd be moments of them in the BG together that could come off as shippy (Like how they did IvyFern), and have those dotted out throughout the books as time goes on, maybe in the second half of AVoS where it's all slower they have kits, maybe have a moment where someone even asks about Cherryfall looking plumper than usual and the cat that someone's talking to is all "OH DON' YOU KNOW???"
Idk... at least then they'd have done SOMETHING with him, since it's clear he's not gonna have any badass battle moments or anything like that, at least make him memorable through a ship, and as sad as that is to ask for, they aren't gonna do anything else with him anyways so it's begging for scraps at this point.

Rowanstar and Nightstar come to mind. I would have really liked to see full leaderships from them instead of being fillers for Tigerstars.
Rainwhisker and Sootfur never got a chance, and I would have loved to see Sorreltail having more time with her brothers. Snowkit as well, seeing how they could work with his deafness into Warriorhood and Brackenfur mentoring him could have been really good.
Swiftpaw. If he lived, I could actually see him developing into a dedicated warrior and possibly being a deputy one day.

Scourge, Darktail, and all the other villains who literally appear for one book. Oh, and Tigerclawstar.
Scourge was literally brought in for the last book, for one battle, and that was it. He also seemed way too overpowered. There was just one epic battle, and no real lead up. Made for a nice twist, but it was also a bit rushed and not too thought out.
Darktail seemed like he was the main threat for the first three books. Then he was knifed. And then the rest of the arc was about what? Settling in? It was nice to see the consequences of Darktail, but I think he was killed off a bit too early. Even his battle with Onestar was a bit anti-climatic. At least that got rid of Onestar, but I think Darktail should've lived a bit longer.
Tigerclawstar was brought in as the villain. He was a good one too, up until TDH. Then he gets knifed by an op edgelord that proceeds to steal the epic battle of the arc. And then he lives on, being an edgy villain up until his new epic battle with Firestar that kills them both. (Second death in this book is sad and weird, like I didn't know this was Coco.) Brokenstar is another one that I thought of. He was an okay villain, but his character was thrown down the drain in YS and he wasn't as fleshed out as I would like him to be. Give me his reign in ShadowClan. Give me a reason why nobody would dare revolt against him. Show me his tyrannical rule. Show me the consequences that ShadowClan suffered because of him. Show me why ShadowClan suffered and struggled to rebuild after him. I want to see howthis guy derailed what was once a fearsome Clan. Give me before and after.
