The trial.
Do you think every cat has had a trial, and do you think they use different cats each time?
If so, it seems like Ashfur had a REAL easy cast of cats to plea his case to, and poor Stumpytail must have had one tough crowd.
Who do you think were the trial cats for Ashfur, Stumpytail, Mudclaw, Darkstripe, and Hawkheart?
I'm adding Mudclaw and Hawkheart on the list, since a lot of people seem to think they should have gone to the Dark Forest.
Also, Darkstripe is on here too, because he pretty much committed similar crimes to Ashfur.

Darkstripe tried to murder a kit.
Ashfur tried to burn 3 adult cats.
Both are bad, but not similar at all. Only thing similar is they tried to murder Firestar, with Ashfur partially succeeding.

For some reason I feel like Yellowfang must have been on Ashfur's council. She's the only one who really ever gives any reason for him being in StarClan, everyone else is put off by it. And to me, at least, her "excuses" for him seem sort of weak and not like she really believes them herself. Maybe she was on the council and wanted to condemn him, but then heard his reasoning and is not exactly happy with it, but okay with it.

I could see that Apparently, he was the kit she snapped at in Into the Wild, maybe she feels guilty about that still, and this was her way of making up for it. This is a joke, I highly doubt that's the case, I'm still curious as to what her reasoning is, but eh, she's never really had much sense.

I don't have any ideas about the cats doing the trial, but I wanted to put in a note about Mudclaw and Hawkheart. I don't understand why people say they should have gone to the Dark Forest. Hawkheart was defending his clan, if Moonflower destroyed his supplies it could have destroyed or severely weakened WindClan. I think he took it too far with killing her, but to him it was one enemy life for his entire clan and I can't blame him for making that choice. As for Mudclaw, I'm not surprised he believed he was the rightful leader. The deputy was changed seconds before Tallstar's death with the only witnesses being two ThunderClanners and the guy claiming to be rightful leader. I can't remember many details about the collusion with Hawkfrost so maybe something happened that I can't remember, but even if he wasn't right he didn't have an awful reason for trying to usurp Onestar.

I agree completely. Also, I don't think Hawkheart realized how badly he had hurt Moonflower until it was too late. I think it said he started to go after her again, until the retreat was ordered, why would he go after her again, if he didn't believe she was still alive? I don't think he meant to kill her at all. Yeah, I don't blame Mudclaw AT ALL. He had done nothing wrong, and Tallstar gave NO indications that he was going to replace him, or anything like that. He was a super loyal WindClan deputy, who tried his hardest to hold the clan together, while Tallstar was sick and dying, and then all the sudden, he's hearing from Onewhisker and two ThunderClan guys, that he's not going to be the deputy of WindClan anymore, and Tallstar isn't even alive to confirm this.
