Paleriver / Hazelpaw / Moonshadow
The white tom nodded quietly, silently proud of Hazelpaw's aptitude in answering Moonshadow's question. He took careful, plotted strides that always edged his broad frame just ahead of his apprentice, but close enough to wrap a tail around her if he felt she needed a touch of security. "Remember, we're only looking to scout out where he is. A bold warrior is also a clever one, and we'll not aggress the fox head on until we feel the odds are overwhelming in favour of us. Keep running behind every warrior in the patrol at the slightest signal from me, and don't stop until you're well away from us." Paleriver knew that she had been taught to flee at a sign of a fight, but he wanted to make sure. "For now though, let's silence ourselves until we find the trail's source. No sense in handing it an easy ambush." He hushed his voice and hoped that Moonshadow beside them would have the same idea to do so.

Duskfang's Hunting Patrol The brown tom hadn't said much for the entire patrol up to this point. He reveled in the silence, if only to enjoy the finest orchestra that was the forest around him. As his namesake might represent, Stagwatcher hardly did all the talking. He was much more of listener since he was born. Even during apprenticeship, the tom took his criticisms and worked on them diligently, all while saying very little. Green orbs blinked before casting their gaze over to the she-cat next to him. She stood close to him, and all the tom could do was smile. Young warriors... As he heard Duskfang call to split up as they neared their hunting spot for the day, Stagwatcher spoke quietly. "If you would like to join me, you certainly may. Small groups won't make as much noise as larger ones do. Giving us a chance to catch more prey." Though he had never had an apprentice, he was always one for wise words. "I'm going down by the eastern edge of the valley, close to the river. It's excellent for hunting both fish and voles who come to drink from the stream." With his last words being uttered, the large tom parted from the patrol and began making his way east. Nettletooth / Stagwatcher calliope
Relief shivered over her grey tabby pelt when Stagwatcher acknowledged her. At best, she had hoped to tag along by being as little of a nuisance as possible, but his empathetic offer was a far better outcome. "That sounds like an excellent plan," she agreed maturely, "I'm right behind you." As the handsome tom directed himself east, the small bouncy she-cat followed in his wake. She pattered her smaller strides two fox lengths behind him, not wanting to crowd him like some apprentice. The young cat weighed her options. Fish wasn't always a strongsuit of hers, but voles were far quicker and trickier in Nettletooth's opinion. As with most of her decisions, she decided she would decide when she got there.

Stealthfire FalconwingMoonshadow crept along, her ears pinned back to hear what all Paleriver was saying. She ignored it, her ears twitching back ahead of her. She quietly slowed down to reach Paleriver and calmly meowed, “You’ve taught her everything, right?” She just wanted to make sure Hazelpaw was ready for a fox attack.

Whiteember's Border Patrol Whiteember's pink nose engulfed the scent of her split patrol and that of a musky dense smell that could only mean a male fox. "Littlepaw, do you smell that acrid scent?" the leader questioned. "As Stonefall mentioned earlier, that is the scent produced by a male fox. You'd do well to remember it. Though rarely do we see them, it is an important for any warrior to know what it is. Much like Spidereye might sniff out herbs." The white she-cat mind was focused, ears pricked forward and ever moving to a new sound. Her muscles rippled under her coat. From nerves or excitement, even Whiteember couldn't tell. With her head held high, she carried the rest of her patrol forward. (short post. Sorry guys. My creative juices are a little lax. Work was hell. So Im still recovering.)

Duskfang's Hunting Patrol (BTW stags a big empath. He feels everythingggg) Stagwatcher held a soft smirk across his brown face as green eyes glanced back at the young warrior tailing behind him. "It's alright if you want to come up here, I won't bite," he finally said, feeling her hesitation. In reality, Stagwatcher wasn't much older than Nettletooth herself, only ahead of the warrior by twelve or so moons. The brown tom padded forward, hearing the rush of the stream nearby. It was one of his favorite sounds and as an apprentice, the brown warrior would often train by himself out here. It brought him peace. Occasionally, he would still find himself out here, whether to hunt or just sit with his paws in the water. He could begin to hear the splashing of the fish and small scurrying around him. "Almost there," he spoke, only loud enough for the gray she-cat to hear.

•♡Hazelpaw♡• Stealthfire jayfeather Though fearful of an attack Hazelpaw quickly became more determined to face this fox head on. They all wanted her to run! Did they think her to be mouse-hearted?! She was only a couple moons away from being warrior age. Having been in little scuffles before, the pale brown apprentice was no coward despite her reserved tendencies. Nodding to Paleriver agreeing not to speak from here on out, Hazelpaw then turned her focus to their surroundings. Sniffing the air, green eyes peircing into every shadow. The scent of fox was being stronger, almost fresh as they approached Moss Hollow. What was a fox doing in the training hollow? The question churned the gears of her mind. Suddenly up ahead there was a slight rustle in the undergrowth and her eyes and ears locked onto its location. Gentle shoulder bumping her mentor to inform him of the noise she halted and pointed with her nose in the direction of the mossy hollow just ahead of them.

Paleriver / Hazelpaw Falconwing / Moonshadow jayfeather
Face stern with focus, Paleriver flicked his ears with distaste at Moonshadow's question. Why did she continue to question his decisions and ability? He was not a proud tom, but disliked another warrior wasting precious words to be skeptical toward his experience. The white warrior plodded onwards in silence, daring not respond when the scent was this strong. Hazelpaw's quick notice of the disturbance in the underbrush ahead made him quickly stop and narrow in his senses, stepping close to his apprentice. He would not send her away, not yet. She was of an age and place in her training that it was appropriate for her to spot a fox, so long as it still didn't know they were there. He signalled with his tail to Moonshadow, hoping she would soon notice the rustle as well.

MOONSHADOW
Stealthfire ’s Paleriver Falconwing ’s Hazelpaw Forest
Moonshadow saw Paleriver’s odd move, and she suddenly noticed that her question to Hazelpaw May have offended him. She wanted to whisper, “Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that,” but she knew there was no time to waste on making sure Paleriver wasn’t upset. When Hazelpaw didn’t answer Moonshadow’s question, she drifted away from the apprentice, towards Paleriver. When she saw his tail flutter, she knew what he was warning her about; the rustle in the bushes. She nodded, showing him she knew what he meant, and continued to creep along, her paws not making even a sound as she walked along, her beady yellow eyes open wide.

•♡Hazelpaw♡• Stealthfire jayfeather calliope Slow to advance Hazelpaw kept her paw steps soft and tactful. Placing each down with purpose. Though she stayed at her mentors side with every step and drifted slightly away, in a statement of independence. As if to show her mentor that she was reamining careful, yet able to stand on her own. She wanted Paleriver to feel confident in her if a battle was to arise. Crack! The indistinguishable sound of a twig breaking instinctively caused the young molly to halt. Freezing in place she assesed her surroundings. The fox was close for sure, its nasty scent overwhelming her nose. Her green eyes scanned over the undergrowth carefully, upon seeing nothing the first time she retraced her gaze. A small flick of white caught her gaze and Hazelpaws soft brown pelt began to prickle. "There it is." Words barley a whisper as she locked onto her target. Thankfully she was close enough for Paleriver to hear her. However Hazelpaw worried about Moonshadow, if the grey warrior kept going she would run right into the fox.

Paleriver / Hazelpaw / Moonshadow
His wispy pale pelt frazzled tensely as Moonshadow continued to step forward. Having stood still at the very sound of the beast, he hoped she too would halt so that they could position themselves properly with the rest of the patrol. The tom felt himself warm with pride at Hazelpaw's steady demeanor. She was faring even better than he had hoped, and he saw much of his dutiful teachings alive in her confident stance. He knew, and she knew, that she was more than capable of being there in that patrol. "Alright," he whispered quiet as a breath. "We'll watch how it's moving, and we'll wait for the others to join us so we can decide how best to banish it. A good ambush is one that scares a fox so badly that it flees before a claw can even be swiped."

MOONSHADOW Moonshadow continued to move forwards, when a Crack! startled her to a stop. She heard a faint meow from Hazelpaw which made her creep back a bit. “Stay near Paleriver,” Moonshadow whispered, just loud enough for Hazelpaw to hear.

Littlepaw wrinkled her nose at the smell. One thing for sure, she wouldn't forget a smell like that! Littlepaw sticks close to Whiteember and finds herself getting a little nervous. What if she couldn't take on this fox? Littlepaw takes a moment to take a deep breath and exhales once more.

Whiteember's Border Patrol (So where did Millie go? Also Falcon if this needs editing to fit better let me know! Kinda at a loss for words today.) Whiteember continued down the path where her scouts had taken. Noticing Littlepaw's slightly scrunched face, the white tabby chuckled to herself. However, the acrid smell of the fox burned in her nose, making her twist her own face. Slowing down the pace of her patrol, the leader immediately noticed where they were headed. "Moss Hollow? The training grounds? Why would a fox go there?" she wondered aloud. She threw a confused glance back at her senior warrior. Wow, what a first day as leader. Find a deputy was one thing. Now there's a fox in the training grounds. GREATTTT... Whiteember shook her head as to shake out her intruding inner monologue. The scent in her nose grew stronger, making her slow her pace even more. "We are getting closer," she mewed, just audible enough for Stonefall and Littlepaw to hear. Please let my scouts be safe, StarClan. The white warrior sent her silent prayer upwards as she focused on what needed to be done next: find that fox. She could smell that Paleriver and Hazelpaw were close, and Whiteember tried to pinpoint their location. "Littlepaw, Stonefall, soft paws until we find the others. This thing's close," she spoke in a hushed tone.

Stealthfire calliope Hawkeyes258 •¤Darksage¤• As the patrol split up the dark dappled tom watched as everyone went their seperate ways. Nettletooth and Stagwatcher paired off, Duskfang and Marshflower went off on their own. Soon it was just him. There was no point in him lingering, wishing he wasn't alone, so forward he went. Stalking into the prey rich valley Darksage began his hunt. •♡Hazelpaw♡• Heart pounding in her ears as she caught glimpses of the fox ahead of them, Hazelpaws breath quickened. Pale green eyes wide, she strained to see what it was up to. The fox wasn't even trying to be quiet. Scraping and shuffling around the boulder, as if it were digging for a burrowed mouse. "Whats it doing?" She questioned softly to her mentor as they continued to watch on. •●Stonefall●• The tom remained close to his leader ears twitching when Whiteember questioned why a fox would be in Moss Hollow. He had no idea. In all his moons the senior never knew of foxes being in or around Moss Hollow. The clan had always kept them from getting that far... so what was it doing there. It wasn't a prey rich spot at all and probably still held traces of the clan when they held training sessions. As they got closer and his leader said to be as quiet as possible he nodded and focused he senses searching for any traces of the fox. Suddenly the sound of something advancing swiftly behind them caused the large grey warrior to whip around. "Whiteember, behind us!" Fur on end the tom looked twice his size as he braced himself for what was coming right for them. Confused, having though there was a fox infront of them, for it to be behind them Stonefall was not happy. If they were quick they could make it up a tree in time but if Whiteember didnt make the decision right away to flee or stand their ground they would have no choice but to stand their ground.

Whiteember's Border Patrol
(Sorry its a bit short. I didn't want to have Littlepaw do actions that Winter wouldn't necessarily want her doing!) "Littlepaw! Stonefall! Trees! NOW!" Whiteember pushed her apprentice up towards the nearest tree, her amber eyes wide in panic. She had barely caught the flash of orange when Stonefall called her name. What is it doing behind us?! The scent markings were all in front of us! Did we miss something? She turned her head back towards the fox, who was still barreling towards them. "Hurry!" The molly had quickly tried to make it up the tree as the fox drew nearer. However, the fox was quick, throwing out it's claws. Whiteember was barely able to avoid the attack as she drew her leg upwards, earning a few not-so-deep wounds. At the moment, she could not feel it. Adrenaline pumped through her veins, causing the she-cat to only think of what to do next. "We must find the others!"

Nettletooth / Stagwatcher : Hunting Patrol Nettletooth's head picked up and her ears twitched with alertness at Stagwatcher's kind words. "Oh. Of course," she answered happily. Her bouncy steps picked up until she was in stride with the larger tom. The time had come for her to decide which prey to pursue, as they had reached the soft ground around the stream. Fishing would be best, she settled, as her quick striking paws made her more proficient at swiping than stalking. As her mentor had taught her, she looked up at the evening sun's position to make sure her shadow didn't cast upon the water and alert her targets. "Do you think the fish can hear us from up here?" she pondered aloud, wondering whether even her voice may alert them.

Paleriver / Hazelpaw : Border Patrol Paleriver observed the fox carefully. He knew they only had a few precious moments before the wind might change and betray their location. "I think it's looking for food. But it's acting far too brazen." He thought of what that could mean. "Far too bold to be alone. There may be another fox out here with it. That's why it's not worried about giving away its position." Quickly, the tall white tom poked his head up to look around. If there was another fox, they needed to keep their eyes on this one, lest they allow it to escape their sights and mount a sneak attack. "We'll have to stay still here until the others can find us. If another fox is around, it's important that we don't let them become surrounded. Hopefully they're just behind."

Littlepaw without hesitation scrambles up the nearby tree. She digs her claws into the bark and doesn't stop until she reaches a tree branch. She peers down trying to catch a glimpse of the fox and seeing it swiftly leap away from Whiteember. She silently prayed to Starclan that she would keep her footing on the branch and not fall to the ground. Stealthfire @callipose Falconwing

•●Stonefall●• calliope Hawkeyes258 Allowing the other two to scramble up one tree, Stonefall chose another. Behind him he could hear Littlepaw and Whiteember clawing their way up a tree trunk. Despite his worrying about his own life, he felt a small tinge of relief knowing that his clanmates had made it to safety. But with them now up a tree, the fox would target him. Its rapid pawsteps behind him grew louder and with it a nasty growl ecsaped the foxes snappy jaws. Eyes wide and heart pounding the large grey tom leapt as high as he could onto the tree trunk, before scrambling up into the safety of its branches. Though foxes could jump a great height they still lacked the skills needed to climb trees. He was safe for now, but the danger still lurked below. An angry fox who circled below, waiting for them to decend. Hearing Whiteember call out Stonefall looked their direction. "How?! We are trapped?" The last thing he wanted was for the fox to turn its attention and target the remainder of their patrol. They needed to be warned, but how? They could yowl loud enough for them to hear, but that would do nothing but cause their clanmates to race straight towards the fox that paced below them.

•♡Hazelpaw♡• Stealthfire Hazelpaw nodded and shifted lower to the ground doing her best to remain as hidden as possible. Another fox?! Why would their be two foxes?! Then it hit her. The wind shifted and the scent of the fox ahead of them difted past their muzzles. The strong scent of milk made the apprentices eyes open wide and she looked to Paleriver. "Shes digging a den!", she breathed coming to an understanding of the foxes around them. "We are going to need back up." How could they take on two foxes on their own? Foxes with a drive to make a den and bear forth offspring. They will definitely be a force to reckon with.

Snakefang glanced over his shoulder once more to make sure no one had followed them before slipping out the camp after Silverscale, feeling a rush of excitement it wasn't normal for warriors to sneak out of camp like kits. Snakefang turned to Silverscale as she spoke to him glad to see a change in attitude now that she was outside. "I told you this is better then being cooped up in a den or camp all day." Snakefang purred. "Now, what do you wan to do next?"
