What a lame pairing, really underdeveloped. Shame too, since I really like Gray Wing/Slate and Clear Sky/Star Flower, as well as their kittens. Violet Dawn felt like just a random she-cat who was only introduced so all the main cats would have mates by the end. They didn't take any time to flesh her out even slightly, since we only just see her more than half way into the last book of the arc. They should've introduced Violet Dawn earlier in the series, or at least have made her an interesting character, and then I'm sure I could get behind this ship. It felt more like a distraction than part of the plot. What are your thoughts on these two?

I actually like Violet Dawn and her relationship with Thunderstar, but the fact that she was introduced way too late into the arc is still a problem (I have problems with most of the other pairings, but at least the she-cats were around long enough for us to really get to know them).
Also, you are the only other person I know who actually likes Sky x Star.

𝓣𝓲𝓷𝓾𝓿𝓲𝓮𝓵 Yea, I went in expecting to be annoyed with or dislike the pairing. Ended up liking them quite a bit, I felt them being together improved their characters, despite all the Slash drama that happened. Plus their kids are pretty cute.

I agree with you that it was weird she was added so late into the book, even if I thought her and Thunderstar were fine together. It kind of felt a bit like they forgot to add her in into the last minute, definitely too rushed.
Also it's nice to see someone who doesn't hate Star Flower. I'm not really a fan of her and Skystar's relationship, but the hate I've seen for her seems kind of unfair.

I like Star Flower, but during A Forest Divided and The Blazing Star, I found her intolerable.

I mostly don't like Star Flower because I don't think that Clear Sky needed yet another mate. And she called him a hero in A Forest Divided. He's not. She was fine in The Blazing Star, though.
As for Thunderstar and Violet Dawn's relationship, it felt rushed. I like Violet Dawn, but she seems like a flat character.

All of the pairings in DotC felt utterly underwhelming and rushed. Especially Thunder x Violet and Storm x Clear. And if they're not that, they're just grossly unneeded and unhealthy instead like Clear x Star.

Just curious, what makes you think that them being together improves their characters? From what I remember, Star Flower was condoning Skystar's behavior. As for Violet Dawn and Thunderstar, I don't like them all that much due to how bland they are and how little development they got. But I don't hate them, they're still kind of sweet.

I love this pairing, but I'm not denying that it is heavily underdeveloped. It would've been better had they either 1) gave Violet Dawn more of a personality or 2) introduced her earlier in the series. Especially considering that how in the last book, Violet was grieving for her mate who had passed away, and her getting with Thunder definitely felt like desperation of some sorts. It would've been much better if he helped her through her grief instead of him just gawking at her (this part really did not make me like Thunder any better). But no. It was a lot better in Thunderstar's Echo, I'll say, but that doesn't change the fact that Violet Dawn herself is bland. And I genuinely like her.
I mean, if Pebbleshine is getting a novella, I see no reason for her to get one about Violet Dawn. Pebbleshine was literally just "Hawkwing's love interest" the entirety of his SE. It would be a good way to give her some character.
