Kestrelflight is still without an apprentice, Featherpelt kits had chosen the Warrior path and have no queens or kits anymore in Windclan, which is kinda sad because he said that he wanted one at the end of AVoS.
What do you think that will happen now for our medicine boy?
One of the current warrior apprentices change to the way of the medicine cat?
Wait even more for another bath of kittens that can or not become apprentices?
Cloudberry situation? A medicine cat of another clan be a substitute after Kestrelflight dies?
A rogue become Kestrelflight apprentice?

Tbh I think he'll probably live as long as Mistystar since they seemed to have forgotten both RiverClan and WindClan's medicine cats/leaders/deputies now.
But realistically I think a Cloudberry situation would probably happen.

Mothwing or Willowshine suggest already in The Last Hope that he should get an apprentice. I hope that he gets one soon but most likely not before Veil of Shadows, because in the blurb it is said that a war is about to start. Maybe Applepaw or Woodpaw change their mind and become a medcat c:

Wasn't Barkface super old when he took Kestrelflight as an apprentice? I can see something similar happening here, though if one of the current apprentices decided to become a med-cat apprentice, I'd hope it wasn't Applepaw or Woodpaw, I'd rather it be someone not related to Crowfeather. I mean, his parents were already deputies, he's a deputy, his one son is a med-cat in another clan. Also, on Heathertail's side, her father was leader. I don't know, I'd just rather not have just one or two families be the main power in the clans.
Another thing, is Kestrelflight really old enough to be worrying yet? I know he's pretty much elder age now, but I remember Tornear being older than Kestrelflight is now, when he mentored Harespring, and he was a warrior, and med-cats seem to live longer than warriors in general.

I wanted one of the kits to go to Kestrelflight and one of them to go to Sedgewhisker. At least I got Sedgewhisker.

I feel like the Last Hope was too early for him to get an apprentice. Jayfeather gets one in the next series, and he was too young for that. I feel like a MC's mentor should be dead or retired before the MC gets an apprentice, and Leafpool was still kicking all throughout AVoS. Since Jayfeather and Kestrelflight are the same age or at least close to, I think now or in the next few books would be an ideal time for him to get one. I think he's due for one, not overdue.
Barkface was pretty old when he got Kestrelflight, too, so he's not quite as old as one would expect. Also, I said Jay was too young to get an apprentice, but Leafpool was really young when she got Jay, too, which contributed to the medicine cat singularity that is ThunderClan.

I mean. Look at how old Barkface lived to be.

One of the warriors/apprentices could still switch to being a medicine cat, though. Not every medicine cat apprentice immediately starts out that way.

Kestrelflight is a senior cat, but I don't see him getting an apprentice any time soon. I've been saying it since OotS. It's disappointing based on how fulfilled the TST allegiances are. Oh well.
