Shadefang rolled her eyes but couldn't bring herself to be too mad. When the twolegs were opening the back door, she tried to gnaw on the gate's hatch and get it to open, but it was as successful as every other time she tried it. She paused at the sound of Candy's cries before snickering. "Her twolegs must put up with that whining all the time." Maybe Candy would know how to open the gate, but also she might not want to at this point.

Fawnstep waved her tail, forcing the laughter back down. Candy was making her way over to them with the oh so familiar scowl marked on her pretty features. "Darn two-legs, forcing me to be in the wild! Horrific." She stopped herself in front of the crate, tapping it with her tail. "You know, pink is not your color." She scoffed, turning her attention to Fawnstep. "Here I thought you had better taste for cats, I mean you do like me." She purred, blinking innocently at the words she had just said. Fawnstep rolled her eyes, letting a cough sound out as she nudged the crate. She knew Shadefang would be out soon and she couldn't wait until her mate was freed.
"The difference you see, Candy, is I don't like you anymore. I am happier than I've ever been."

Shadefang blinked at Fawnstep. Liked her? Candy didn’t look like a very nice cat, so she was glad her mate hadn’t gotten too close to the kittypet. At Fawnstep’s words her chest swelled with pride, and she couldn’t help but laugh. “I wouldn’t know what she saw in you, anyway,” she mewed, her tail flicking back and forth in amusement.

"Nah, she was always meant to be a wild cat," Shadefang purred, then looked over at Fawnstep. She opened her mouth to speak but paused when her mate's attention was somewhere else. "What is it?" she said, trying to get a good look at the twolegs. She could tell they were pulling things out of a cabinet, but she couldn't tell what, and she turned back to Candy. "What are they doing?"

Shadefang scoffed at Candy, then crouched deeper into the cage, watching intently. It was still weird to her that kittypets got their food from their twolegs, even though she had lived it herself when she was younger. She shifted her eyes to catch Fawnstep's glance, and she gave her a tiny, brisk nod. She waited for the twolegs to approach her cage, but tried not to jump ahead of herself. The twoleg female used one paw to unlatch the door very carefully, and when there was a crack she tried to dash past the twoleg.

Shadefang looked wide eyed at Fawnstep. "Look, I didn't think I'd get this far!" she said, then turned the other direction and flew right under one of the twoleg's legs. The den turned into a tunnel, and there were a few den entrances on one side of it. She darted into one of them to see if there was an escape from there. There were two metal boxes that she couldn't recall the names of in that moment, and she jumped on one of them and peered behind them. There was a hole with light inside it - an escape? - and she jumped down to try and squeeze into it.

The she-cat watched as her mate tried to squeeze into a hole, was she going mad? Ignoring this fact, she jumped up on the counter and pressed herself against the smooth clear wall that would lead to the outside. Damn, it's not open. She grumbled and moved along the edge, still searching for a spot to get out. Then she saw it, a small opening above the place water flowed. She jumped into the large dip of the ledge, feeling small water droplets surround her paws. She then proceeded to jump, with a bit of wiggling, through the opening. She almost got herself stuck, hanging by her hindquarters facing downward, then she suddenly fell. She barely landed on her feet but she did, taking a deep breath. There was no time to relax, she would have to keep running.
{Kinda wanted Fawnstep to fall flat on her face but then remembered she is a cat}

Shadefang wriggled herself into the hole, her fur snagging on everything on the way, until she landed paws-first on the grass. It was suddenly dark and humid like a cave - she must be under the den! She hurried to follow the tunnel that was coming out of the hole she did. It had to lead somewhere outside, right? She let out a sigh as she moved, hoping that Fawnstep had found a way out on her own as well. What was she thinking, escaping without figuring out a plan first? It was a miracle that her rashness hadn't gotten her and Fawnstep in any more trouble than they were already in.

((its fine, adds to the drama lol at least she didn't decide to scream ))
Shadefang continued to trot underneath the den, following the tube until she came to a cut out with a bright light shining through it. Outside! She pawed at the material surrounding it; it was hard but obviously could still be torn into, and very flimsy. She stuck her claws through and tried to claw it apart - maybe Fawnstep could even hear her. Either way, it was her only choice right now. Fawnstep would have had a better plan for sure.

Shadefang gave up on pulling the den apart, as it apparently wasn't as flimsy as it seemed. She glanced around underneath the den; she didn't want to head back to the front, since she could hear the twolegs calling out for them. She spotted another hole where sunlight seeped through, and she scurried over and tried to pull herself out. After more tugging on her fur, she popped out and with a sigh Shadefang shook out her fur. She looked over at the fence to see if Fawnstep was nearby.
