; alrighty! unfortunately it's rather late at night for me atm, but i'll try to get something up tomorrow!
i did want to ask however, is there anything you'd like to discuss before we start? perhaps something you had in mind for the world, the rivalry between the families, etc. that i should know? or shall we go ahead and start with the preparation for the ball? i'm fine with anything really, just curious! ;w;

{ That's fine! There's no rush~ }
{ Hmhm, I can't think of anything at the moment? Just that it's a fantasy world- so Bea can have her magic- other magical creatures exist... Sorry, I'm a bit tapped for creativity at the mo' ^^" but if there's anything you feel should be discussed or would like clarification on, I'd be happy to flesh things out more with you~! }

{ Oof I forgot- do you have a name for Bea's kingdom? Or is it her surname? }

; sounds good then! i did have a few ideas - mostly about the magic system + maybe different races? for magic, i thought having elemental spells would be easiest to keep track of - (fire, ice, etc. spells!) but not too sure about how exactly they would be used though ... i thought it would be a more natural occurrence, like one would be able to use it on command rather than verbally activate it, if that makes sense? ^^;
basically, someone could continue casting spells until their magic eventually fizzles out and weakens, which means they're out of MP, lol?? that's what i was thinking!
and races!! are there only humans and lock's race, or did you imagine having creatures such as dwarfs, elves, and the like? or would there generally be more human-like beings, perhaps ones with animal features (ears, horns, tails) but overall look more human than beast-like? i'm fine with only humans around if it's easier, i was just curious about who else exists in their world c:
i'm a-okay with bea's kingdom named after her surname! "the kingdom of Concordia" has a nice ring to it~

; i'm sorry, i really hope i didn't bother you with so many questions!! i have one more though - did you have something in mind to start off the rp? i was originally going to write bea + her kingdom staff preparing to host the royal ball, that way she and lock could officially meet and start things off! (plus waltz of course) does that sound alright with you too? i don't mind writing something different, please feel free to let me know! i wouldn't want to start off on a bad note with you ;A;

{ Oh that all sounds great~! This isn't just my world, so you're free to influence it however you see fit! I agree that elemental magic will be easier to keep track of, and I tend to use the MP system too so we're good on that front lol I think it'd also make sense for Lock's race- still debating on how to refer to them- they're seen as unnatural because they're kind of outside of magic. If he has an element, I'd say it's darkness. }
{ Hmhm, on the subject of races- I was thinking that'd be a thing but perhaps not so much of one? Like they all tend to keep to themselves but there's still some mixing. Like a dwarf might have a stall in the marketplace but that wouldn't be common? And if you want to add human-like beings as well you're welcome to! It could be a bit like FFXIV haha~ I love the miqo'te }
{ Great~ }
{ Oh, there's no need to apologize! I love being able to chat with/brainstorm with my writing partners! So please feel free to ask questions anytime~! As for starting- I actually had the same thing in mind! On my end, I was going to introduce Lock as he approaches & enters the ball, his impression, etc. And then he'd see Bea and oh no she's cute and we can continue from there? So your idea for a starter is perfect! I can't write today- or tomorrow, probably, but I'll try to respond as soon as I'm able! }
{ You really couldn't start off on a bad note with me! <3 I've seen you around the forums a bit and I look forward to writing with you! }

; aww, thanks so much! i just don't want to get ahead of myself without consulting you, but i'll keep that in mind!! and i see, his race sounds pretty interesting so far! perhaps his kind can be named something relating to darkness, then? if they're all prone to using the same element, of course.
; i totally understand what you mean! like there's different races that exist, but they're normalized in society so no one's really surprised to see them? in that case, i'll keep in mind to occasionally refer to them! omg i was thinking about ffxiv too!! miqo'tes are my fave as well, i'm always weak for furry ears + tails ... plus the males are super cute asjdhdh
; okie dokie, i appreciate that so much. i'm glad we were pretty much on the same page - and no worries about not being able to reply, there's no rush at all. i'm actually going to be rather busy as well, so it's a-okay to take your time c: and thank you again, you're very kind!! i look forward to writing with you as well, let's do our best (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
; i should have my starter up either tonight or early tomorrow!! at least, that's my plan if time will permit me ^^

Tomorrow was the night of the ball.
Or was that today already?
There had been a gradual shift of the moonlight seeping in through her window, draping her silk covers with its silver tint. Hours had passed since she first laid down to rest - the normally comforting embrace of her mattress did nothing to lull her to sleep during those lost hours, leaving her to observe the pale specklings of light illuminating the rest of her room. She must have fallen asleep at some point, for when she next opened her eyes, the speckles had turned from silver to golden, proof that the moon's rays had finally gave way to the rising break of dawn. The muffled footsteps of a dozen and more servants scurrying in the hallway outside her door encouraged her to sit up, staying quiet as she listened to their hushed conversations of feverish excitement, their voices softening into nothing as they passed by.
Their delighted voices rose a swell of emotion in her chest, their excitement infectious, and not in a bad way. Every year her kingdom would host this very ball on this very day, open to neighboring countries and wealthy patrons her parents had connections to, all in an effort to keep peace among the royals of their land. It was a time she genuinely enjoyed, no matter how exhausting the day was when it was over.
A knock at her door broke through her thoughts, but did not surprise her in the slightest; another occurrence that happened every year on this very day was the harrowing schedule of preparing for this very ball with the help of her personal attendants. Bathing, dress-fitting, hair-styling, makeup application - all a part of the time-consuming process leading up to the evening. She sat up straight as her door opened to reveal a team of servants ready to began this unofficial ritual of hers.
Beatrice found herself with a fluttering sensation twisting in her stomach, one that visited her only when she worried.
---
The day had hastened to its evening hours by the time her crystal crown was arranged atop her head, its clear metal cords and intricate beads interwoven into the stands of her hair to maintain its balance. The crownpiece itself held five spikes of pure opal quartz, the longest shard positioned in the middle with the four smaller ones inched apart from one another, each standing tall and glimmering under the lights of her room. As beautiful as it was, she had to admit it was much more weighty than she was comfortable with, and suddenly she was glad she wore it only for special events such as these. Through her vanity mirror she watched as her attendants finished applying the last of her makeup, soft red hues and natural in style, when one of them tucked a strand of her straight dark hair behind her ear, leaving one side to frame her cheek.
"Blue looks so nice on you, Princess." The same servant spoke kindly, her smile polite and honest. Beatrice spared a quick glance down at her attire, as if forgetting what she was wearing momentarily. The flowing dress itself was an azure blue color, made of silk and linen, with a high neck halter collar and bell sleeves that reached her elbows. Its hemline was long in length, and its entirety elaborate in decoration, sporting lacy whites and powder blues as complements. "Oh, thank you. You're very kind, Emile." Her smile was returned just as politely, leaving both parties feeling flattered.
It wasn't long afterwards that the last of her outfit was complete, and all Beatrice wished for was a nap.
Two guards now escorted her down the hallway that led to the throneroom, where the main banquet would be held to serve their guests. Beatrice held her head up high, more in an attempt to keep her crown upright, but occasionally she allowed herself to falter, the butterflies in her chest growing doubts within her. Standing before her were two large marble doors that were being kept open and closely guarded, revealing it as the entrance to the exquisitely pristine area beyond it. From her place, she could already hear the soft melodies of music being played by the invited orchestra band, drawing her interest. The throne itself was placed at the top of a flight of double staircases, where already her father was seated, her mother standing by his side, and both overlooking the slew of visitors arriving in time for the festivities to began. Calmly, regardless of those stubborn butterflies, she entered the room and kept a careful eye around her, her quiet arrival drowned out by the noisy chatter of the growing number of guests.
For the time being, she decided to take a seat at a specifically marked table reserved for her family, already feeling her head aching under the weight of her crown. Beatrice observed the scene around her, entertaining herself by searching for familiar faces who waved and smiled at her in equal recognition. For now, she thought, relaxing her posture in her seat as she watched the orchestra play, I'll sit and rest while I can.
