fawnpaw"battle training? all right!" fawnpaw's ears pricked up in excitement. fawnpaw was small, but stocky, and her thick fur protected her from blows nicely. what she lacked in balance she made up for in decent fighting ability. she was much better at this than hunting, which she still struggled in due to the fact that it required silence, patience, and well-aimed, precise leaps.
"well... i... uh," fawnpaw stuttered and looked at her paws, suddenly feeling somewhat bashful at her mentor's question. then, defiantly, "well it's just so hard to keep tidy! i don't see how you have the patience for grooming all that, shadowfur, cause it bores me so much i fall right asleep!" with a skip in her step, she followed him out of camp, bounding a few leaps ahead of the older cat.

(Oh cool!)
Shadowfur furrowed his eyebrows as he heard his apprentice’s explanation. “Alright, If you say so.” He meowed with a small nod and padded out of camp. “I’m sure you need the sleep after a bit of time on walks.” He said, slightly assuming what she had done, though not entirely sure. “Anyways, we are working on lunges. Since I am a big target, it shall be easy.” He meowed after a while of walking.

fawnpawfawnpaw glanced shamefully at the ground again. it came as no surprise that shadowfur suspected her, she was a terrible liar. but the fact that he didn't directly call her out or question her angrily made her like her mentor even more. she didn't know for sure, but she thought maybe shadowfur looked at her differently than most cats. maybe he saw her strength and determination more than her clumsiness and attitude problems.
shadowfur was indeed a big target, so fawnpaw knew she couldn't hesitate for too long. at this stage, she knew there was no way she could best her mentor, but she could catch him off guard a little or use a tactic that might impress him if she was lucky. she swiftly trotted behind him and lept at his shoulders as quickly as she could.

Shadowfur saw the look in her eyes for a moment and glanced away. He knew she was different, all the better the feeling when she graduates as a perfect warrior. He stood in the clearing and heard her steps stop, turning around, though not quick enough he tried to mimic what would’ve been him biting her tail . She had still been able to latch on, impressive as most cats would either hesitate and miss their shot or over calculate their move. “Good.” He meowed. “Better than most, but you could work on that small moment of hesitation. When you are getting me from behind step more lightly as I could feel you stomping around.” He meowed with a small smile. “Cat with longer tails would’ve needed to tuck their tail in on their side because I could’ve bit it.” He meowed, glad her tail helped her in a way.

fawnpawfawnpaw beamed, a little pleased with herself. it was rare that her lack of a tail proved helpful. of course, it meant one less spot to groom which was a task she hated anyway. she silently cursed herself for forgetting to be quiet, though, and made a mental note to work on not being so heavy footed. her mentor's comment had given her an idea, though. shadowfur's tail looked quite long and graceful, it's feathery plume almost sweeping the ground when he walked. she wondered how fast he could move his tail. at this point, fawnpaw knew she was getting a little too bold, but her brain was on that tingly rush she got from fighting, even in play. "like this? she lunged again, this time directly for the fluffiest part of his tail.

Shadowfur watched the She cat think for a moment. He flicked his ear and looked away for a moment, he spun around as she said something and watched with wide eyes as she lunged for his tail, it was heavy to move all the fur and he couldn’t move it quick enough but he lunged at her after she caught it, swiftly pinning her to the ground, his massive on her chest. “Exactly like that.” He meowed, unfazed by her grip because of his thick fur blocking her teeth. “But it works better for short haired cats.” He chuckled, soon lifting his paw off of her chest and sitting back down. Fawnpaw was very swift when she wanted to be, which was good. “You’re swift.” He commented watching the She cat. Starting to circle her. “You should learn to go for soft spots, especially with bigger opponents. I mean, If I was a danger, or a rogue, I could’ve bit you.” He meowed. “You should aim for two soft spots, for me, I have lots, but most of them are protected by my fur. Now, you are going to sit right here...” He said and motioned to a small spot. “I’m going to attack you. Listen for my breathing, feel for my steps, and keep your senses on high as I could attack from anywhere.” He meowed and stood up, backing away slowly. “Now count for 5 seconds while I hide and start.” He said before backing up into some tall grass.

fawnpawin stunned silence, fawnpaw lay on the ground, unmoving under shadowfur's heavy grip except for the labored heaving of her lungs. it was one thing to hear tales about the strength of an experienced halyconclan warrior, and another to feel it. shadowfur's swift takedown ha struck genuine fear in fawnpaw and left her heart racing, but it had also struck a chord of intense intrigue. she wanted to be like this someday. the playfulness had fled from fawnpaw's mind and solum focus took its place. it was rare that the rambunctious she-cat was this serious, but she had a lot to prove and a lot more to learn, so this was no time for goofiness. she took a defensive stance, then closed her eyes and inhaled as shadowfur stepped away. at first, she could hear his paw steps, then they slowed, and seemed to melt into the ground, barely detectable. fawnpaw felt every muscle in her body tighten in anticipation, but tried to focus on remaining limber so she could move when she had to. if she was frozen in place, she would catch the full blunt strength of the attack. even being able to move a little, she could take less damage. still, shadowfur was very hard to hear. would she even know where he was coming from before it was too late? "alright... one, two, three, four... five."

Shadowfur swiftly moved around the hollow hiding in the bushes, his paws lightly stepping wherever he stepped his fur only brushing the grass. He was very undetectable and focused. His eyes narrowed as he watched her from the side. He knew she was more focused this time. He let his breath slow to almost a stop, he let his claws dig into the ground. He was truly ready to kill, like his grandfather, he had the skill. But shadowfur was kind, he knew this was training and he knew that he’d protect his apprentice with his life. He ignored those sinful whispers and came to be a great and kind hearted cat. Soon he lunged at the She cat, though 2 seconds before his tail had brushed some grass. He lightly bumped her side, as he was already massive. He went for her legs as he knew she was swift, trying to knock her down was easy, but doing that while not wanting to hear, her was hard, though he managed.

fawnpaweven though she had been preparing for it, shadowfur's attack blindsided her and fawnpaw couldn't help letting out a small yelp as she was knocked off her feet. luckily she was only shocked, but not frightened. the sheer velocity and killing force behind shadowfur's attack could have made some cower in fear. but fawnpaw was very trusting. she admired her mentor greatly, and was sure he would never actually hurt her. she, too, had heard the whispers among the older halyconclan cats about his grandfather. she remembered the wide-eyed looks the other apprentices gave her when she found out who her mentor would be. but what did that really matter? she didn't see how he could be held accountable for thistlefur's actions just because they were related. anyway, being somewhat outcasted for something they had no control over was something she and shadowfur had in common. it was something she would have liked to ask him about, but it seemed awkward, there was no way she could bring it up.
determined not to be kept down for long, fawnpaw quickly sprung to her feet, shaking dust and leaves from her pelt. her bright green eyes blazed with ambition. "again, again! i bet i can dodge it next time..."

Shadowfur smiled as she bounced up glad her apprentice wasn’t afraid. “Alright, alright.” He meowed with a smile and backed up once more. “Two more times and then we’ll try something else.” He meowed with a smile. “Count.” He meowed once more. Soon he once again disappeared into the bushes, again untraceable. Thinking of where he’d lunge from next. “Remember to use your senses!” He called and started to move around. (Wow they make a pretty good team XD.) it’s like foster daughter.)

fawnpawfawnpaw again took a deep breath, trying to focus all her senses on shadowfur's location. with her already hindered balance coupled with his huge size, she was certain shadowfur would always be able to sweep her over. that is, so long as his blow landed. she was quick, maybe one day she could match him in speed but right now he had the advantage in that, too. she could only think of one thing that could possibly work. this time, she crouched as she heard the soft signs of his approach, and lept into the air, hoping she had timed it right. if she had, she might just be able to jump over his blow if he tried to strike at her legs again to knock her over.
(lol right?! i like their interactions c: ack i need to make plans with what to do with her as a character thooo.. do you have anything planned with shadowfur? his backstory is interesting!!)

(Other than being haunted by his grandfather nope.)
Shadowfur leaped, he almost hit her with a large blow when she jumped he missed, tumbling to the ground. He shook his head, dazed, though not much because he jumped softly. He made himself move to the side so he wouldn’t get caught if she decided to attack. “Wow!” He meowed clearly surprised. “If I was actually trying to, Well, harm you I’d be too dazed to think!” He meowed, pride clearly notable in his tone. He sat down and shook his large head once more, wrapping his tail around his paws neatly.

[ i'm sorry about the poor detail in my posts recently, hopefully i can make them better within the next few days ^^ ] Larchpaw with Hollypaw & Berrypaw | [Blaze ♡ & spaceotterr<3 ]
There was no doubt about it; the water was very nice. Larchpaw had never been fond of it, but the longer she kept herself in it, the more she wanted to swim and catch fish. Maybe the river was playing a trick on her mind, though in all honesty, it was one she didn't mind. She lapped up some of the water and quickly followed after Hollypaw while Berrypaw led the trio upstream. "I don't think the water's felt this nice since I was apprenticed," she mumbled, mostly to herself.
Hearing Berrypaw's call, the orange tabby's ears pricked up so she could hear her over the current. "It's going fine! A lot better than I imagined," she admitted, glancing at the littermates briefly. "Can either of you see further upstream where the fish might be? I hope we didn't scare all of them away yet."
Larchpaw wasn't going to lie to herself; the current felt stronger as they made their way upstream, almost feeling like she was being knocked down by an opponent. The water pushed against her chest roughly and she quickly ducked her head to avoid a large wave since it seemed it would hit her in the face. Obviously swimming wasn't going to be easy since they were moving against the current, so the young apprentice thought of a quick message for their ancestors and moved on. (Yasss, my shady boi has some purpose!) That’s okay sand! Berrypaw & hollypaw, larchpaw Sand Blaze ♡Berrypaw felt the current pull her and she gasped for air before being taken by a wave. She latched onto a long log, only big enough for one. She was hidden so the others apprentices couldn’t see her go under and come back up. She growled softly before reaching shallow, but rocky waters, some parts going deep and some parts going shallow. “Come on!” She meowed as she spotted a bunch of fish ahead, she brushed the experience away and looked at the fish. Farther up ahead. here you go blaze! For tonight.

Hollypaw with Berrypaw & Larchpaw / spaceotterr<3 and Sand
The young tom splashed back up onto the shore, his paws sliding slightly on the slippery pebbles. He grumbled under his breath as he fumbled for a moment before Hollypaw regained his balance. He shook his pelt out similar to how a dog would shake their wet pelt, however, he mostly got rid of the excess water. Hollypaw's coat still felt heavy and sodden with water. He lifted up his head to see that Berrypaw was starting to move upstream and Larchpaw was beginning to follow her.
Hollypaw shrugged his shoulder and followed the apprentices, little splashes occurring as he padded along the water line. His tail flickered, his green eyes scanning the water. It was hard to see into the murky water, "I am not sure," he called to Larchpaw, seeing as she was still in the river, following behind Berrypaw. He wrinkled his nose, fishing wasn't his favorite type of hunting. "I really hope we can find some," he meowed, feeling his mouth almost salivating at the idea of eating some fish.

Berrypaw hollypaw and Larchpaw / Sand Blaze ♡. Berrypaw stayed on her small spot. Safe from the current. She shook her head as some water went in it. “When we get to a better spot, let’s play truth or dare!” She meowed and continued to sad through the water. “I see some!” She said and started to slowly wad towards them, spotting a salmon. “Salmon!” She growled with a tint of hunger in her voice. Proudfalcon and Lichenheart / Fallen Stars
Proudfalcon tread through the forest, flickering his tail as he continue along with Lichenheart. The broad tom's shoulders seemed to lose their tension as the two wandered deeper into the forest. It was quiet with the exception of birds chirping in the distance and the gentle rustle of the trees above them. "It is comforting," he murmured, his amber eyes flickering aimlessly towards the branches above them. His whisker twitched as he saw a fluffy tail, disappearing into a bunch of leaves. At least prey was returning to the clan even though leadership wasn't. Proudfalcon shook his head and dipped his head in agreement, "It always been the best part of being a warrior," he meowed with a gentle huff. Not that Proudfalcon had always been more quiet, opposed to his sister, Shadesong. Proudpaw was often out in the forest even though he was quite often reprimanded by his mentor for leaving camp alone so often.

Larchpaw w/ Hollypaw & Berrypaw | [Blaze ♡ & spaceotterr<3 ]
Hollypaw was the first of the three to reach the river bank and Berrypaw followed quickly after. Larchpaw yanked herself out of the water, her soaked fur feeling bulky and saturated. The short swim in the river had gone well, but its murky appearance was going to make fishing harder than she thought. She shook out the excess water that clung to her ginger orange pelt before hurrying after the two littermates. "Even though the water's pretty murky, I think we can find some fish," she meowed hopefully, watching as Berrypaw took off the in direction of prey. "Maybe we'll get lucky, it seems like Berrypaw caught on to something already!" Larchpaw kept herself close to the shore line, green eyes scouring the dark ripples for any sight of movement. A small patch of bubbles rose to the surface, indicating there was a fish (or possibly more) in the area. "I think there are some over here," the tabby mewed quietly, flicking her tail in the direction of the bubbles. However, there were some rocks jutting out near the spot and it didn't appear to be the rafest to hunt in. Maybe if they could stand or even sit on the rocks it would be a good vantage point.

Berrypaw halted and looked at the other cats nodding at larchpaw. She started to swim back, it being easy as the current pushed her. She tried to stop herself from floating all the way down, soon slipping on a rock and going under water. She started to panic as she couldn’t swim or get back up. With her heart pounding hardly she thrusted up and reached the surface. Taking in a gasp of air she tried to grab a branch, successfully she stayed their. “Keep hunting!” She yowled to the other cats, not wanting to go back to camp empty pawed,

[ I am not sure if I am 100% pleased with this but aye ]
Finchcall and Chipmunk [ Sand ]
Finchcall sat down on the ground, his tail flickering at one of the weeds that was poking at his side. It was mild annoyance and he couldn't help but swipe at it with his paw, feeling a bit of satisfied when the weed's stem snapped. His yellow eyes flickered back to Chimpunk and let out a gentle amused snort. "It wasn't an insult," he meowed, his gaze gleaming. He couldn't help but feel amused by the tom's poor training but also pity. He shook his head in slight dismay, how did cats even survive outside of the clan? "Your balance is off," Finchcall retorted, thinking back to how the tom was hunting. It was the first thing he noticed. The tom didn't have his hunting crouch down correctly and it was throwing off his chances at catching something productively. "Balance is the most important part of hunting," he mused, parroting his former mentor.
The young tom couldn't help but roll his eyes. "Yeah yeah," he muttered, trying to ignore the loner's smug response. He still couldn't believe that tom was even capable of catching food, it looked like he belonged in the elder's den. Finchcall shook his head, his annoyed look morphing into an amused one, "Some reason the critter likes to talk about himself in the third person," he joked, his shoulders relaxing. It probably wasn't the best idea to put his guard down but the loner hasn't done anything yet.
