Bouncepaw's ears perked up at Sandeyes' words of praise and she grinned broadly, a loud purr erupting in her chest. She could've sworn Batpaw had also asked her a question, but she couldn't quite remember what it was. Something about the rogues, probably. She'd never seen them before but- wait, that's it! "No, I haven't seen them," she admitted, relieved that she'd been able to avoid the embarrassment of having to ask Batpaw to repeat his question, "but I've heard they're scary!" She was curious about the rogues, she had to admit; for a while when she was younger she'd been convinced they were made-up to scare kits into staying in camp, but the more she heard about them the more her curiosity grew.

Gorsedapple poked his head into the nursery, squinting in the dim light to make out the shapes inside the den. He couldn't help but break into a smile as he spotted Whitewillow lying in her nest, and he greeted his mate with a warm purr. "Good morning, my love," he called out to her, careful to keep his voice soft in case Darkfeather's kits were still asleep. He acknowledged the other queen with a respectful nod, seeing that she was also awake. "Is there anything I can get for you both? I'm sure you must be getting hungry by now," he meowed, tilting his head to one side.

Batpaw couldn't help but smile a little at the look on Loonpaw's face as she stared down at Sandeyes' hindquarters. At least things seemed to running the same as usual in camp. "Scary, huh?" He played Bouncepaw's words over in his head, his thoughts traveling to the expanse of pine trees at the edge of the moorlands. He'd never gotten close, but he could still remember the strong winds rustling the spiky leaves if he concentrated hard enough. Batpaw rose to his paws and stretched out his back as he examined his own work. Both the elder's nests looked a whole lot better from how they started out today. But what should he do to pass the time now? "Yeah..." he turned to Bouncepaw. "Sometimes I can't help but wonder how many of them are out in the pines." ( Jekyll i have tanglestripe open!)

I've done the age-up for today! I also made Shinekit, Shadowkit, and Rainkit apprentices, and all the mentors are up on the front page
We will skip ahead a moon today, but if you want you can continue your rps if it's not affected by the moon skip, since this last moon wasn't very long ^^'

Loonpaw returned with the stick of bile in her mouth, and luckily hadn't heard what Sandeyes said about her. She moved back to the elder's flank while she ate and stuck the bile to the tick and waited until it popped off. Then she started parting more fur to look for any more, as well as any mosquito bites she needed to fix. "They've gotten really close to the meadow border recently," she added in as she occasionally glanced up at Batpaw and Bouncepaw. "Do you think we'll have a fight soon?"

Whitewillow glanced up as Gorsedapple entered, and she purred as she gave him a lick on the cheek. "Good morning, dear," she mewed, then slightly unwrapped her tail from their two kits. "These two definitely love their milk," she said as they suckled at her stomach, their eyes still closed. "Yes, something to eat would be nice." She licked Cardinalkit and Morningkit on the tops of their heads as well.

Algaestar came out of her den earlier than usual, her eyes narrowed as she looked out down the river. She could see the top of the forest's trees on the other side of the waterfall, and she flicked her tail. She glanced around the clearing until she found Mudsplash already awake to do patrols, so she padded up to the she-cat to get her attention. "Mudsplash? Can I talk to you about the border patrols today?" she asked her deputy.

Loonpaw shrugged. "Maybe there's whole hoards of them in there," she said as she nipped at another tick. "They've supposedly been in the forest for as long as we have, according to Fernstripe." She glanced over at the old tom, who gave her a subtle nod while he chewed his prey. She took note of Batpaw's fear and felt herself smile. "But no matter how many are in there, we're gonna make sure our territory stays ours, right?" Even if it meant fighting a whole group of rogues, Loonpaw would do it for her Clan.

A l d e r n o s e -
For an older cat, Aldernose was quite active around the camp. He really did want to know everything going down, and protect his clan with everything he had. He wasn't in the best mood--talking with Iceheart always got him down. She wasn't very emotional, so it was easy to admit that they didn't get along very well. Most of the time, Aldernose didn't even believe that she even liked him, despite her saying that she was fine with him. He kept thinking about it, over, and over, but just huffed. She was going to have to like him eventually, he was her father.
A distraction was well over-due, at least, that's what he realized as he shook off his head, trying to clear it of the consistent reminders of Iceheart. Naturally, the best option was to find someone to talk to, to take his mind off of things. His own eyes glanced around the camp, and spotted Tanglestripe. He was a bit older than him, but talking to an older warrior like himself was always good option. He found himself wandering over, coming up behind him and brushing his tail along his side as he paused beside him, to alert him of his presence so he wouldn't be surprised. "Hello, Tanglestripe," He mewed deeply, simply being around another cat relaxing him a bit.

Tanglestripe rumbled as his thoughts faded away, looking up at Aldernose as his tail ran along his flank. "Oh! Hello, Aldernose," he bumped shoulders with the younger warrior in greeting. "You caught me while I was lost in my thoughts, there."
He studied Aldernose's expression. There was a certain sort of troubled look in his eyes, but Tanglestripe didn't want to pry, unless Aldernose was comfortable sharing his thoughts.
"I don't know about you, but I'm getting hungry. I imagine the moorlands are filled with prey scurrying about by now." He lowered his voice and leaned in closer. "I overheard Algaestar and Mudsplash talking about border patrols. This isn't unusual, naturally, but what caught my attention was how tense everybody seems lately about the borders and the rogues. Seems like something's brewing."

He purred in amusement. At least his strategy of touching his tail to his flank worked well, he didn't startle him. He sat next to Tanglestripe, listening carefully to his words. He had heard a few things around camp, but he hadn't been paying attention very recently. He'd been more concerned with his family, and, as per usual (at least, lately, that is), very lost in his own thoughts, reminiscing on the past. But drama was always something that would interest him more than his own mind.
"That sounds interesting... Part of me wants to check it out, but the other part of me doesn't want to die," He joked, looking around slyly. If it was something they weren't supposed to know yet, he really didn't want anyone overhearing them. Aldernose liked to maintain an image, and gossiping wasn't the easiest way to do that. Aldernose flicked his tail to motion Tanglestripe to come with him. He stood up, speaking in a normal meow now. "I'm hungry too. Let's go to the moorlands."

Tanglestripe nodded and arched his back, letting out a great yawn. "I can't see us dying," he chuckled softly. "Even if those rogues are jerks, they're no clan cats. Despite all the yammering, I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up fighting like kittypets."
He followed alongside Aldernose as they made their way towards the edge of the elm trees, inhaling the faint, clean scent of the river. "With any luck, the prey will be sluggish from having to deal with all this heat." Tanglestripe picked up the pace and sunk his claws into the sand of the bank, staring down at the river's lapping waves.
"You know, Aldernose, it really does feel like the river has been lowering by the day Especially today!"

He chuckled gently at the joke, grooming down a piece of stray fur that had decided to stick up on his pelt as Tanglestripe stretched. He didn't have a solid gauge to how strong rouges would be--He had only come across a few, and they were generally kind cats. But, that was a while ago, and he was much younger than he was today, and turning down a hungry, desperate cat was frowned upon. He led them out of camp, looking around slowly and nodding to the notion that the prey would be sluggish. Aldernose was already feeling it--humidity could get any cat in a mood.
"Then we'll have an easy time finding prey," He mewed back quickly, his legs taking larger steps as he streched them. "And hopefully, with them being sluggish, we won't have to do as much work. Not to say that I couldn't do it, but it's rather nice to not have to work that much." He would never admit that hunting wasn't his strong suit, but he was willing to imply it very subtly. He looked at the river, tilting his head. He had noticed the levels going down lately. "I can't argue against the stream," He admitted, dipping a paw in and feeling the current; The flow of water felt nice against his pads. "What do you think's going on? I haven't gotten enough opinions to actually figure it out."

Algaestar lashed her tail. "I want to take a border patrol to the edge of the forest, and even inside it if we have to," she said. "The scents have started to push into our meadow, and we've done nothing to the rogues to stop them. They have the forest, they don't need more land." She gave Mudsplash a firm look, which wasn't much like her usual personality. "I'll lead it and leave you in charge of camp until I get back."

"Me either," Loonpaw agreed for once, before soon setting the stick of bile down. "All done!" She purred for a moment, then let out a groan. "But when we're done with the elders we're all free for patrols..." She looked at Fernstripe and Sandeyes. "Quick, give us a reason to stay in here!"
Fernstripe laughed and shook his head. "No, you all need to find your mentors and get to work today," he said, nodding his head to the den's entrance. "You've done all you can for now. Don't shirk your duties, Loonpaw," he added sternly, giving the young she-cat a hard glance. Her ears lowered to her head, but she let out a huff in response.

Wolfclaw, who had turned her attention to Algaestar and Mudsplash's conversation as soon as they'd started speaking, stiffened mid-chew. Had the strange smell she'd caught last moon been that of the rogues? It wouldn't surprise her, but she couldn't be certain.
She felt a small pang of sympathy for Mudsplash, recalling how nervous the other she-cat had been around the trees. On the other paw, it was never easy to sit in camp while others went out and put themselves in danger for the clan.
