--ezra bishara ; bodyguard
"No," he said, shrugging. Even if she was a Fournier, Ezra was far from a bastard. Everyone had to make do and some were more innocent than others, even in factions. But Ezra wasn't the type to do something violent unprovoked. "Just checking around for survivors. Can I take you somewhere or get you something?" He hoped she wouldn't ask for Ash since Ezra didn't like dealing with the stuff. Herbs? Go ham. But Ash was hard, relentless, and a boost--it heightened powers and dulled any pain they provided. He wasn't going to get that for her.
"A hospital?" He hadn't found an unaffiliated healer he could trust, and though he was sure the Fourniers had some good people on payroll, Ezra wasn't sure if Samar wanted to go to them. "Or, do you just need somewhere to go?" Ezra sometimes sported the "white person in a horror movie" trope, always too kind and trusting--but then again, if they weren't a good person he would know. Samar didn't look evil, she just looked like any person working retail. At least, in her job she got to kill the rude ones.

(Hey, sorry for disappearance. Health took a downturn, finally feeling less ugh. I've finished up two other character profiles. Unsure exactly how to place them. I would enjoy tips before finalizing their profiles. I'm thinking Isaac is unaffiliated b/c he's a bit ridiculous and is unaware he could actually be useful as a spy. That or he's just terrified of the concept so he's blanked it out lol. Joan I think might be suited for Spades, but I'd guess as a guard for a leader and...there isn't one yet but I doubt I'll be active enough to suit a leadership role, more so support characters.
Also Harlow is usually hiding in his workshop, but I'd assume a high profile assassination (of unknown means) would have him fidgety as hell and a person must eat/get medicine/seek intel at some point. He'd probably want to talk to Rey, or could pop by the apothecary or accidentally run into Kai and be like "I pay money, give me info". Assuming he could recognize Kai, trying to get a grasp on the current events and world-building still.
Second and third profiles-
Jeanne Beck; 25 ; she/her; bodyguard; temperance - Jeanne is passionate. She has an atypical moral compass, but itβs there. She has learned to fit her role, getting rid of some of the impatience and resentment of her youth. She may be a human shield, but she works hard to be damn good at it. - Jeanne is average in height at 5β6β, but bulky. Her hair is kept pixie short and is fiery red with dye, dishwater blonde without. Sheβs pale and freckled. She has narrow green eyes. Scars litter her body. She has a Spade tattoo on her left ankle. - Regenerative Healing: Her body heals itself, usually just by burning calories. It starts with the most lethal injuries and works its way out. If pushed too far, she begins with burn fat...and then muscle. Head injuries affect her memory. The imperfectness or inability to fully heal all injuries has resulted in burns and scars. Besides this, she has a non-magical high pain tolerance, which helps. Her body reacts to alcohol and drugs by metabolizing them too quickly to enjoy. @ collided Spades
Isaac Garcia; 23; he/him; dog trainer; judgement - Chatty, friendly, and loyal are descriptors that all apply. He also has poor self-esteem and fragile, nervous nature. When in defense of others, he can become far fiercer. - 5β10β and built like a runner, lean and lanky. Shoulder-length black hair, brown eyes, and easily tanned light brown skin. Big smiles. - Animal Magic: Unlike common perception, Isaac doesnβt affect the dogs. He can just turn into a dog. He rarely goes this far, but even his doggish smell alone seems to help. His power also creates a bond between him and his trainees. With distance and time away, it dissipates. The problem is with his repeat customers, often boarded with him, whom he continues to accidentally get information through their senses. Usually, there's only smells, but sometimes he hears or sees something he shouldnβt. He tries to ignore this. @ collided Unaffiliated

you look good! sorry about the decline, i fee you tho don't worry about it! and if you really want her as a leader, we can talk about it
jeanne would fit in any, depending on her motivation fourniers is safety and success, power ver tahesh is power and loyalty, an intense family the spades are a bit more ragtag and casual, though higher ranking members share a familial bond. spades get a lot of poor people and orphans ]]

(Well, I know Rey would definately be laying low and try to keep her gang involvement secret because of the recent take over. Garph, being in the police, may be required to search around the area, but because he's been bought out, he won't do anything about it Bael is most likely also laying low, because the night was pretty scary to witness. He may not try to cause much trouble out of fear)

(Thanks for the info, sachamet, and thanks for the compliment, Nariku, on my characters. I think Jeanne would be higher level Spades then like she was saved from a bad life as a younger person, so protects the higher members in return for it. She would totally want to hunt down certain people she has decided are Evil, but needing to protect a ragtag family might balance her out better. More chaos so she has to be more Temperance to keep her people safe. I'll edit her to have a Spades tattoo. I'm trying to determine Harlow's motivation otherwise. He stuck to the Ver Tahesh because he wants family/acceptance, to maybe a dangerous level. With the recent takeover, he'd be mad as hell but somewhat stuck. He is used to just giving people objects and waiting to see what happens. But just because he struggles physically doesn't mean he probably wouldn't want a fight, but he also knows it's not one he'd win well. So I guess like Rey, he'd have to pretend he wasn't ever that close to the leadership and just try to...accept new ownership. Enchanters are worth too much to kill for no reason, I'd presume, but I also would guess that someone might visit him to kind of let him know he's now also under new ownership? Some lower level enforcer, maybe with a job they'd want done to help clean up the mess? Also packing up for trip, but I should have Internet. So if anyone's here and wants to take on dealing with any of my three, that's good. ...Also please let me know if anyone might have let Isaac train their guard dog/family dog lol. Accidental mole I'm hoping will stumble his way into trouble and end up being more useful than he's aware of.)

Harlow Zima, Enchanter
Harry had been counting the ways his day could get worse. Sure, he was fine. Unlike many, he was still alive. He had his comfortable double story home, downstairs workshop and upstairs loft. He lived in Ashburn Park of all places. His life should be comfortable. It had been for awhile, as much as it ever got here. Now? Now information was seeping in bit by bit and it wasnβt anything good for him. Riven Shah was dead, as far as he was aware. Murdered. A lot of people had died last night, a lot of them his people. He wasnβt sure if they saw him as theirs, or even really saw him as a person, but they were all Ver Tahesh. Sure, some of them were addicts or cruel, but he saw what had brought them there. He couldnβt blame them. He wished he could join them sometimes.
Instead, instead, he had woken up with both sacroiliac joints dislocated. Damn things. Pushed them in. Heard the crack, felt his muscles spasms and nerves burn. Then it was fine, or fine enough. His hands werenβt especially swollen, which meant it was a good day for work. Bits and bobbles were everywhere on his tables. The wood carving equipment, stone cutting, some metal work heβd started learning how to do. It had always been easy, learning new ways of turning nature into something more, embedding in magic.
What people did with his items? It varied, but he tried to keep his nose out of it. Now he wished he hadnβt, because now he wished he could have studied more specifically more weaponry ideas. Given his people more tools. He could have tried to beat the Fourmiers at their own game, gotten venom or poisonous plants. Confuse the game players. Get the Spades and Fourniers at each othersβ throats again, instead of at theirs. In hindsight, this seemed obvious. Instead now he sat at one of his desks, watching the front windows and door. He felt twitchy. He hadnβt eaten yet and he should. He needed to pick up a medication too, the shop was just down the corner--easy to wheel over to. He just felt like if he went out, something would go wrong. Surely someone would come by soon, let him know where they stood. Tell him what projects were still on, which would be scrapped, which would be new and especially lethal as payback. He picked up a piece of obsidian. Wonderful material, sharper than steel. This piece had a fossil from sort of ancient squid. Heβd been wondering what he could manage to make something like that do. It had a spirit of death upon it, magic that belonged to the world and he just had to tap into. Someone could die from it. For the first time in a long time, he again wished he could get more involved. Give the gift of death to someone who deserved it. A traitor maybe. Their king couldnβt have died if someone hadnβt given insider information. The luck required otherwise made it seem unlikely. No, someone in their ranks must have helped the other side. They needed to be found and killed, if they werenβt already dead--probably stabbed in the back by the ones theyβd sold information too. Then they had to purge anyone who thought they could get into their homes, into their family. It wasnβt just Riven Shah. No, it was the fact a lot of them had families, had children, had people they just wanted the power to protect. Now that power was spilling out like blood from an artery. Someone had to cauterize it and insure Ver Tahesh didnβt die out, leaving the damned city to the whims of mobsters and gangsters whoβd send them to ruin.
Something had to be done, but it seemed he was the least useful person to do it and he hated it. Heβd spent so much time trying to be smart. Go to school, learn magic, become useful, protect his home, protect the people whoβd cared for him when no one else did. Now he felt weak and vulnerable again. Useless. Worthless. Words tossed at him again and again, and the people who never called him that probably lying dead in some gutter. And what could he do for them?
He slipped the piece of onyx into the pocket of his overcoat and unlocked his wheelchair. The wheels turned on their own, his hands free, and he went out of his door, out onto the sidewalk, and looked around at the city he called home. Tourists who had no sense for danger wandered the streets still, going from boutique shop to overpriced cafe, and he glanced at the apothecary sign. Sensing his desire, his chair turned and moved along the sidewalk. Mostly level, better than the broken ones in some areas he could never get around on. He couldnβt just wait and hope. Heβd take care of himself at least, first, and then await instructions. They knew where to find him. It wasnβt like he ever went too far away. The sidewalks wouldnβt even let him. So instead he went into the apothecary, spotted the familiar apprentice, Mateo. As always, he wondered about the burn, but never wanted people asking him why he different either, so he kept it to himself. Just pulled up at the counter, more or less suitable height for him, and waited as another customer was helped, an old woman who seemed to be telling Mateo some story about her grandchildren. It might be a bit of a wait. He should have stopped for breakfast first. Again with the hindsight issue.

(Finally at first stop. Seems like Internet will be nearly useless at next stops which is unfortunate but oh well. Iβll read a book lol.
Also I think Jeanne might be a Captain. Sheβs young, but her experience due to difficulty in killing her means she took a lot of risks as a foot soldier and got promoted/taken under the wing. I think sheβd be vocal about local politics, keeping βbalanceβ and so on. So sheβd likely protect leader or deputy, but get some extra power on advisor level. βHow do we keep squishy not healing humans from dying?β
Harlow I considered being just an associate, but I realize since heβs separate from his blood family, heβs probably be drawn into this (cult-like) family so heβs a faction member. More obscure one. If someone tried to make him work for them instead, heβd probably agree but then find a way to screw them over. Also lol thank you for thinking he has leadership qualities. Heβs definitely more dangerous than anyone has given him credit for, if only because heβs put his self-worth into his work. Since he lives in such a dangerous place, he is usually mentally drafting weapons he learned but he also wants to always be The Best so creating new probably horrible things.)

(Ugh this is disgustingly late. Internet problems coupled with some major writer's block is a terrible thing. But better late than never I suppose.)
Elwyn contiuned to stroll down the streets, hands deep in the pockets of her green jacket. She kept her head down, but eyes and ears alert. If anything were to happen, she would need to be ready to run, to escape. She walked in silence and listened to the people she passed. Some were chatting about their mundane lives while others gossiped about the events from last night.
Elwyn contiuned through Bowery passing various shops in different states of activity. Some were dead and others slow-moving. There were so few that seemed to be bustling. She went on strolling along the sidewalk, still keeping to herself. She managed this until something caught her eye. She stood in front if a grand jwelery store with large windows and huge, obviously expensive, pieces on display. The thief paused for a moment, gazing at the fine jewelry with a smile. It would all be so easy to steal. And yet it could all be so risky. What if the shop owners worked for one of the factions? What if she, somehow, got caught? What if she made the wrong person mad? Besides that, she was an honest thief now, only stealing back for those who hired her. She bit her lip, letting her amber eyes linger for a moment before leaving. For her business was slow, but the risk outweighed the possible reward. She left and didn't look back.
