All Cats Get A Second Chance
Even Bad Ones
Prolouge
A cat remembered a time when he had been a kittypet, then apprentice. As a Warrior he had found and stopped a treacherous cat from getting his way. His leader lost faith in everything, but he remembered to keep it. The cat orange tom padded down to the place where he had killed the small black cat with the heart of ice.
He settled down beside it before gazing up at the stars. Something had always seemed wrong with the death of Scourge.
He let his eyes settle on the ground, glancing at the bloodstain from the injuries, and couldn’t help but notice the two pawsteps of a dog-teeth clawed cat heading away from the bloodstain.
Firestar tilted his head, shaking it slightly, “Who buried Scourge? Or who dragged him away?” Firestar thought out loud, “All there is are two bloody pawsteps.”
Firestar glanced back towards camp, and shook his head slowly once more, before walking back to camp.
The question lingered in his mind though, and he couldn’t get it out, “Where did Scourge go the day later?”
Chapter One
Scourge woke up and jumped to his paws, disgusted by the muddy consistency of the ground, and gazed around with narrow eyes. “Where am I?” He growled menacingly. He had never seen this place before, and how had he gotten here? The small black cat shuddered as he remembered the soft hearted tom biting his throat.
His memory was interrupted by a, “Welcome,” from a cat he recongized instantly.
“Tigerstar! How dare you bring me to this place! And how are you even alive after I sliced you open like a mouse?”
He heard the tabby striped tom growl before continuing, “This is the Dark Forest, and we have given you a chance to kill that stupid soft-hearted kittypet!”
Scourge smirked, “I thought I already killed one. Or at least you looked like one.” He chuckled, “All scared looking.” Scourge cleared his throat, “Anyways, how would you of all cats have that kind of power?”
He finally saw the tom, his face twisted with rage, “Because I was granted nine lives by Starclan, and somehow one of the lives didn’t perish, and that means I can give you it.”
Scourge was confused by what he meant, “Give me a life?”
“Yes.”
“How?”
Tigerstar touched Scourge’s nose and the small cat convulsed, flopping on the squelchy ground.
Scourge stood up slowly, testing his four limbs before standing up fully. “What have you done?” Scourge asked in a low growl.
“I have given you a life.” The striped tabby shook his head slightly, “I didn’t think it would’ve worked but it did.” He breathed out slowly.
Before Scourge could say anymore his head started spinning and throbbing and was suddenly put into darkness.
He shifted awake and opened his eyes slightly. Scourge opened his eyes slightly. He could feel a burning sensation behind his eyes, and he blinked twice, confused by the unnatural feeling.
“What happened to me?” The black cat asked aloud. He stood up on all fours and was surprised to feel them so full of energy.
He flexed his paws before looking at the bloodstain below him, and gasped at the sight. Scourge put a paw on his neck, feeling for a wound. He could just barely feel a faint bump of a scar on his throat. Scourge studied the scene on the wet ground below him. The collar he had worn with pride and hatred had been ripped and torn to the point where it didn’t look much like a collar at all. Blood was spattered on the ground, and some was still wet from the fight that had occured from what felt like a long time ago.
All of a sudden Scourge heard a cat padding closer, and retired to a bush nearby.
“Huh, he’s not here. Maybe someone buried him?” Scourge heard another cat pad closer to the the blood spatter, “I doubt it,” The cat snorted, “who would want to touch the carcass anyway. Any cat with a sane mind wouldn’t touch it.”
“Yeah, you’re right,” Scourge peaked out of the bushes to see a fluffy white cat and a long haired gray tom sniffing the blood, “a fox or a hungry badger probably took it. Lets get back to camp and report it to Firestar. I bet he will be happy to know that Scourge got carried away or something.”
Before tagging behind his clanmate, the white cat sniffed again before asking, “Isn’t it kinda weird that there isn’t any other scent besides his blood? I mean…”
Scourge heard the voice drift off in the distance, and stepped out of the cover of the bush.
He surveyed his surroundings before heading off in the opposite direction. Time to make this cat pay, he thought to himself.
The unused part of the forest seperated by the Twolegs stone structures was where he made his makeshift home. There was plenty of mice in the forest area, so it was a perfect spot.
He settled down in a rotting tree that had more than enough space for his small size to fit himself and a prey pile in an unused part of the tree.
He thought of what he was going to do first. “The twoleg place would be a good spot to start recruting cats, but I’ll need more worthy ones; then, I can start establishing territory.” He spoke his plans out loud.
Scourge could feel his eyes getting heavy, and decided to close them for a moment. He woke up in the same place he had before.
“Are you ready to start your revenge?”
