Works for me. I'll make Cosmic 21 then, since that's the age I usually have him anyway. ^^ Cosmic didn't think this day could get any worse. He was behind in his studies, had a drawing to finish for class, it was date night with Brinn, and now his mother was asking him to babysit - again. "Mom, don't you think Kale and Kadence are a little old to still need a babysitter?" And that I'm too old to be your go-to sitter?
Viviana Sparx sighed. "I wish that were true, Cosmic. You were always so mature for your age, but the twins are not. Neither were Ryker or Veda, for that matter," she added in a mutter Cosmic wasn't sure he was supposed to hear. She continued louder, "Cosmic, I know it's date night, but why don't you ask Brinn to hang out here and help you watch the twins? You know they adore her."
Of course they did; no one who met Brinn couldn't adore her. "I'll ask, but why can't you ask Veda to babysit? She's back from Cancun now, isn't she?"
"Oh yes, but she's caught up helping Kleo with wedding preparations. That's actually why I need you to watch the twins; I'm due to join them and the rest of the women so we can pick out the cake."
Cosmic almost felt like face-palming. There was once a time he would have given anything to see his older brother find the love of his life and settle down, instead of spending his time partying and womanizing. Now his brother's upcoming wedding was ruining Cosmic's social life and school credit. He had been forced to spend most of his time either helping his brother with wedding and bachelor party preparations, or babysitting his thirteen-year-old siblings so his mother could go out and do the same with the bride-to-be. Cosmic wasn't even a month into his last year of college and he was already falling behind - for the first time in his life. It was not an experience he enjoyed.
The worst part was, he couldn't tell his mother or brother any of this without them waving away his concerns and telling him he would be fine, and that he was too smart to fall behind forever. While it was nice to be seen as smart, he sometimes wished they would see him as selfish too. But then, he'd probably have to act selfish first, and that was something he just couldn't bring himself to be.
So with a sigh, Cosmic told his mom, "Alright. What time do you want me there?"
Viviana grinned - he could tell, even over the phone - and told him before promptly bidding him goodbye and hanging up. Cosmic pulled the phone away from his ear and stared at the Call Ended screen for several seconds before closing it and opening the text app. He clicked Brinn's name. Hey you. Mom asked me to babysit again. You okay having date night at her place? He hit send, then dropped his phone on his desk and went to get ready.
Sorry if this is crappy. My starter posts are always a little iffy. ^^'

Brinns day had been exhausting. She had met with her study group first thing, studying for an 'early learning' exam which wasn't actually for another few weeks. She believed in being prepared, and she took her course very seriously. She had wanted to be a teacher for as long as she could remember, it was a passion and something that she threw herself in to wholeheartedly. After a few hours in the library, making flash cards and annotating her already heavily annotated workbooks, she waved goodbye to the lady behind the desk and headed back to her apartment. It wasn't much, a small student flat in a quiet corner of town, but she had it arranged to her liking and it was homely in that quaint sort of way that only a few scatter cushions and fleece throws could create. She stowed her books quickly, her desk neatly ordered and free of clutter. From there she had gone over to one of her neighbours. Mrs Anderson was a frail elderly widow, whose family had moved away years before. Brinn made it a point to check in on her a few times a week and even did her grocery shopping for her.
The older woman opened the door with a bright smile, blue eyes quickly appraising the tall redhead with an armful of paper bags filled with fresh fruit and vegetables. "Come in my dear." She said in that gravely tenor that people of a certain age all seemed to share. Brinn followed her through to the kitchen and began to back away the groceries, chatting absently as she did so, asking how the woman's day had been. The pair settled down to play cards for a while, talking in the manner of two old friends, despite the obvious age gap which didn't seem to bother either. "It's date night tonight. I'm hoping Cosmic is going to arrange something nice." She said softly. "Though I fully expect we will be asked to babysit." She smiled as she said it, clearly it was no bother to her either way.
"You shouldn't be such a pushover you know." Mrs Andrews retorted, raising a finely shaped eyebrow at the young woman across from her. "Pretty young thing like you, that boy should be doting on you. My Harry took me out dancing whenever he got a chance."
"I don't think 'dancing' is a thing anymore." Brinn teased kindly, noting the wistful smile the other got remembering her late husband. Her afternoon was spent working a shift at the small coffee shop not far from campus, hurrying to serve people their drinks, keeping them happy. The conversation with Mrs Anderson was fresh in her mind when she returned home shortly afterwards, to shower and get ready for the evening. She was towel drying her copper hair when her phone lit up, the text she had been anticipating. She penned a response quickly 'Sounds good. Do you want me to bring anything? Xxx' She dressed quickly, knowing the plan wouldn't involve any fancy restaurants helped her opt for a more casual look, pale blue jeans and a soft comfortable cream sweater. She was never one to dress up anyway, most of her outfits boasted comfort over style. A short while later she was stepping to the front door of his mother's house. A place she was as familiar with as her own family home.
(I hate starters too XD haven't RP'd Brinn in a while so gotta get back in the swing of it)
