Hey! So I've been hiding in the Fan Clan threads since I joined, but I've been working on a pair of Warriors fanfics for a while and I wanted to see if anyone here would be interested in reading them. The first is tentatively titled Ouroboros and it combines a few of my favorite tropes - Dead Peanut Gallery and Time Travel. The basic premise is that, following his death at the end of The Last Hope, Firestar is reincarnated as his kittypet self, just before he joined ThunderClan all the way back in book one. Upon venturing into the forest and encountering Greypaw, he realized that he has not only become younger, but he has traveled back in time. He proceeds to join ThunderClan in time to save Redtail's life, is visited by Pinestar in a dream, and everything unravels from there. Features: - Exhausted old man Firepaw, ThunderClan cryptid
- Grey-Sand friendship
- Lots and lots of Redtail
- Shenanigans
- Angst
- Dustpaw being Dustpaw
- An increasingly paranoid Tigerclaw
- Spottedleaf actually being relevant instead of a convenient plot device
- irony
It's my absolute favorite tbh - it's already 40 pages long - but I don't know how many people would read it. The second idea is more "traditional" in terms of forum fic. Titled Sins of the Father, it centers around four original clans - SnowClan, WillowClan, MoorClan, and BoneClan - after the destruction of the Mooncave and the death of BoneClan's medicine cat. The destruction of the Mooncave released a warrior from the ancient clans, a massive panther named Nightclaw, but it also freed an ancient darkness that had been imprisoned for moons beyond counting - beyond even StarClan's sight. The fic centers primarily around BoneClan and Nightclaw, but the darkness threatens everyone. Features: - Fish out of temporal water (Nightclaw)
- So many cats. Like, so many
- Original clans and clan cultures!
- Clan politics
- Magic shenanigans on par with Omen of the Stars but less all over the place
I also really like this one! Mostly for the worldbuilding though, I'll admit - the plot is less fleshed out than Ouroboros and I only have one chapter written.
I will probably write both, eventually, but I need to focus on one or the other once Camp Nanowrimo is over if I'm going to get anything done, so which one is more interesting to you guys?

I honestly am so fascinated by Ouroboros and would LOVE to read it.
Also, your status is also me. Hence why activity has been halved. Trying to work on a fic too.

Ahhh thank you! Yeah, Ouroboros seems to be the popular choice. I'm pretty thrilled, to be honest - so far it's a lot of fun to write, especially since a lot of the characters from the early books didn't get much characterization (which means I can go absolutely hog wild).
Also, Firepaw is about as subtle as a trainwreck, so the thousand and one conspiracy theories that spring up around him wherever he goes are priceless.
Good luck with Nanowrimo! I don't know why I thought it was a good idea to do 75k the same month as finals.

Definitely the first idea sounds great! I love background characters and how “unknown” they are.

As interesting as time travel is. I’ve always preferred reading about someone’s actual creations and OC Clans than reading about some spin on the canon series. But I’m in the minority here, so alas! I also love the Fish out of Temporal Water trope...

Aha that's fair! I will almost certainly write Sins of the Father at some point, but Ouroboros is going to get priority.
(Fish out of Temporal Water is so much fun.)

I also love the Fish out of Temporal Water trope... I enjoy spins on canpn characters if done well, which can be difficult. The mix of OC characters and canon is very difficult, as I can attest. But when done well can be a fun read, and well done original Clan and OCs are fascinating reads. (CURSE is splendid example) When I wrote mine I knew my OCs would change the course of canon history, and that was probably the most difficult-researching back into the books and beyond, constantly. Yet certain points, as Dr Who always says, are fixed in time and cannot be changed. It is why eventually, those who died in the books eventually die in my fic, even if it occurred differently. Sky Clan comes back. But a few other things, that could easily be averted with a grand old smack down, could be stopped or altered, like Darktail's slithering bullying way into the Clans. Not on my OCs watch LOL. The fun part in a lot of this was giving a few minor canon characters the chance to shine, if briefly.
The idea of Firestar going back to his youth with all the future knowledge is rather intriguing. It can be a real fun ride if the author can pull it off.
Makes me want to try a time travel with NEW BLOOD-gads killing off Demonstone in Thief in Morning Light killed me, but there has to be a mechanism by which it occurs, and that can be a difficult thing in these types of stories. There are no machines. . . unless I use StarClan as the vehicle to do so. But there would have to be great need for such. . .and at present, none exost in the NEW BLOOD AU.

StarClan is the ultimate Deus Ex Machina tbh. Their rules are so vaguely defined and often bent way out of shape that you can get away with just about anything as long as they argue about it.

LOL you have a great point! I will have to think on this-maybe Kyestorm and Demonstone never have to die!! LOL

Just all depends on how much you tweak something.

StarClan wasn’t even responsible for the time travel in the books though. If anything, they’re more of the “pre-destined,” sort of Deus-Ex Machina. While Jayfeather was merely re-living his incarnation’s life through Jay’s Wing’s body.

Finished a one-shot with the same basic premise as Ouroboros — Once More, With Feeling. Ouroboros is still in the works and will probably be posted some time next week!

Honestly, both of these sound great! Ouroboros seems to have most of the support but tbh I would totally read Sins of the Father as well! I like the cool worldbuilding already ^^
