I thought it was pretty good.... I'd also liked to know what you think about the characters and how they will turn out?

i'd say it's still too early to tell. hopefully, with two new povs in shadowclan and skyclan, they're able to try out cool new ideas and keep the arc fresh and unique i like shadowpaw a lot already. rootpaw is a little unremarkable so far, but that's probably just because all the kits in the series have the same personality. i'm curious to see how his character grows from here I understand, but I meant so far, lol. I should have clarified that, sorry

Can't judge without the full book. But Shadowpaw's my fave rn, I'm also scared but curious how his PoV will be when/if he has a seizure while we're right in it. Because god, that sounds terrible, it's a good bet he's epileptic if he has them so often, to where he even wished he didn't. That's pretty damn dark. o.o'

I find it weird that the cats know what a "seizure" is, but then again... it's Warriors, so I suppose anything is possible..

I like it so far! The prologue was interesting, I hope the cat is Ashfur. I like Shadowpaw as a POV, but I think I like Rootpaw even more somehow.

It's alright. The characters are nothing special so far though...in every other 1st book of the arc I was able to fall in love with the main/supporting characters within the 1st two chapters but
But I am hoping on it improving

I didn't expect to like Shadowpaw's POV so much, but I did. His personality still only has bare bones to it, and he hasn't yet set himself too uniquely apart from other male POVs yet, but the seizure thing is certainly new, and his past before TigerDove came back to the Clans is very different from many other POV characters' backstories. I wouldn't mind if it was referenced every now and then.
As for Rootpaw, I like him, too, and I'm very curious about his relationship with Tree and how that'll be. A character who is embarrassed of their father could be interesting to read about. I know we had a sort of variation of parent issues for POV characters, such as Thunder and Clear Sky or Tallstar and Sandgorse, but his chapter set a different tone to it than the others...if that makes sense? lol I don't know if it does.
So things are good right now, I think, but I just hope they return to writing stuff out. One of my biggest frustrations with AVOS was how badly they told things, yet didn't show them. The time skips was annoying and the editors had stuff happen, then just wrote a throwaway line later about it. Like one chapter ended with someone announcing Squirrelflight had gotten ill and it was made out like OMG BIG DEAL SHE COULD DIE OH CRAP. Then the next chapter in ThC, there was just a line or two saying she got better and that was it. I like reading things in real time, as we did with the first three arcs (but kinda got away from in OOTS and onward, imo). I don't wanna just read events. I want them detailed and can react accordingly! The way they wrote AVOS made me feel sort of detached from a couple supposedly big issues or points of anxiety, such as working up to the battle against the Kin the first time, Twigbranch finding SkyClan, Violetshine growing up with the Kin, how ThC reacted when RiC came to the hollow after being chased out of their territory by Darktail, etc. It's boring to just read the aftermath of things that happened a few days prior while not seeing it for ourselves. I hope they keep up the quality of what we have now and we can return to actually reading what's going on.

I'm pretty happy with it so far. I like Shadowpaw's POV, was pleasantly surprised to see some of the old cats retiring, and I'm glad to see cats actually dying, even if its not on screen (but might be in SH).
I'm also looking forward to the plot. I didn't think I'd care for another leaf bare related conflict, but seeing as this is the "coldest leaf bare any cat can remember" I'm pretty excited to see how it goes. I'm really hoping Graystripe kicks the bucket, and a few other cats too. As spongebob once said.......... im ready for the longest, coldest winter ever

I'm genuinely disappointed at how forced and rushed some things feel. Originally, I was annoyed at fans calling Shadowpaw a stu, but after that darned rushed prologue, I understand why now. And this is coming from someone who supported Shadowpaw and defended him. Just the way how StarClan praised him, it feels forced to me.
Rootpaw is also really bland. I don't remember their gender, but it feels like they don't have a personality yet.
However, I'm still gonna get the book. I'm just really disappointed in the quality right now, but it's too early for me to judge. And I'm not going to call Shadowpaw a "Stu" just yet, because we don't have the whole book. It just feels like it because of that rushed, half-assed prologue but I'll try not to feel too disappointed about it. Right now, I'll stick to neutral about the writing quality.

I like that we have another cat who suffers from seizures/ epilepsy. The only other one was a minor character in Cloudstar’s Journey. I am curious how the Erin’s and the editors will portray these seizures, how the characters react to them, and how Shadowpaw will learn to suppress them as the arc goes on. I’m tempted to pick the book up and see where it goes, but if it ends up being the editorial and writing disaster AVOS was, I’m not continuing and just read the spoilers and summary instead.

Yeah, the prologue was...weird. I noticed that, too, and was thinking that I'm not sure we've ever had such a short one. It may as well have not even been there at all.
