When they arrived at the training clearing, Brackentuft turned to face Cloverpaw, halting in the middle of the grassy stretch. "We've gone over all the basics, so I think it's time for you to start learning a few trickier moves," he explained, "but we'll do a quick run through of some of the simple moves to warm up." He got into a defensive stance, keeping all four of his legs apart and lowering himself slightly. "I want you to try a front paw swipe on me, use your instincts to make it effective against me."

Cloverpaw nodded and took a step back from Brackentuft, then settled into a position similar to his. She narrowed her eyes thoughtfully as she considered her move. His legs were far apart, so he'd be harder to knock down; she'd have to try something else. She lashed out and swiped her paw downwards, across his face and chest, then stepped away for any counter attack.

Brackentuft staggered as the blow came into contact with his chest, not quite expecting the young she-cat to reach so far, and jumped backwards out of range. He righted himself with a purr, his tail flicking. "You've certainly gotten stronger," he remarked, "well done. Your attack is excellent, but how's your evasion?" He grinned almost wickedly and backed up, straightening so he wasn't in a guarded position anymore. Brackentuft was by no means an agile or even a quick cat, but he knew how to use his weight well which had served him excellently in combat. He reared onto his hind legs and loomed over his apprentice, springing into the air - albeit not very high - and aiming his landing right where Cloverpaw stood.
Sweetberry laughed, a tinkling sound that could have come from a much younger cat. "Yes, it's quite pungent in here. The more time you spend around the herbs, the less they bother you. When I asked my mentor to let me become a medicine cat's apprentice instead of a warrior apprentice, he was appalled - but only by the fact that I was willing to spend my life in this den with all these smells," she purred, gazing around at her stores, "I'd never wish to be anything other than a medicine cat." She had already set the watermint down by the piles of herbs, and motioned for Ashstorm to do the same with her bundle of thyme. "The herbs are all very well-organised," she observed, slightly surprised, "Shadepaw must have done them while we were out." She was incredibly proud of her apprentice; he learned fast and had the makings of an excellent medicine cat even at such a young age. "How are you feeling, Ashstorm?"

Cloverpaw let out a soft purr with the praise and felt her chest puff out a bit. She watched intently as Brackentuft backed up, settling into a defensive stance. It took her a moment to realize what he was doing, however, and when he stood over her and pounced her eyes widened. She dropped down as fast as she could and rolled to the right; Brackentuft's paw landed right next to her head, but she escaped. Cloverpaw winced, then rolled to her stomach and blinked up at her mentor.
Shadepaw flicked his ear as he heard Sweetberry's voice, paired with someone else's, and he flipped around to see her and Ashstorm entering the medicine den. He laid down his last few herbs, then moved to poke his head through the moss screen. "Good morning!" he mewed to his mentor as he pushed all the way into the den, his eyes bright. He nodded his head to the young warrior. "Hi, Ashstorm! Did you two go gather herbs?"

Brackentuft's paws slammed home just where Cloverpaw had been a moment ago, and as he straightened up he gave a nod to his apprentice. "Excellent," he mewed, "just make sure that in future, you watch exactly what your opponent is doing so you can calculate their move while they're executing it." He shook out his fur and thought carefully for a moment. "Alright," he decided, "today I want to show you a new move; it doesn't really have a name per se, but I suppose you could call it a defense against large animals like badgers." He padded a little further into the clearing and faced Cloverpaw again. "The main point of the move is to evade your foe's jaws and front paws by leaping over them. The leaping part is hard, because it requires a lot of strength and the ability to calculate your landing position," the ginger tom explained, gesturing with a paw, "so for now I just want you to practice leaping over a certain distance." He looked around and spotted a smooth stone about the size of his paw a tail-length or so away, and he reached out to pull it closer to him. "Try and land on this stone, and each time you do I'll move it a bit further away."
Sweetberry greeted her apprentice with a purr and trotted over to give him a quick lick between the ears. Shadepaw was already almost as tall as she was, she noticed as she bumped her nose against his. "Hello, Shadepaw," she murmured, "have you organised the herbs today? They're very neat," she praised. She turned to Ashstorm and gave the warrior a gentle flick across the flank with the tip of her tail. "I'm glad to hear that, Ashstorm," she mewed. She took a moment and then spoke again. "If you would ever like to talk, my den is always open," she assured the she-cat.

Flamestep lead Cedarpaw into the training clearing and circled it thoughtfully. "Before we start, let's warm up with some basic moves." He faced his apprentice and lowered himself so he was laying on his belly. "Show me your back kick, front paw strike, and play dead, in that order." Noticing a leaf about to fall from the tree above him, he flicked his tail in its direction. "You have until that leaf hits the ground." He smiled warmly. "I'd suggest you start soon."
Freyja tensed at Callie's words. In her midnight strolls, she'd learned that they weren't alone in the forest, but the other cats seemed to stay on their side of the river. Because of that, she'd neglected to tell the group about the strangers. "Sylvester went alone into the forest?" There was a hint of anger in her voice, though she tried to hold it back. "We've only been in these woods for a moon. We don't know what dangers there are yet!" She whipped around and started to head back out into the forest. "Callie, come with me."

Stagleap | 21 moons | male | pansexual | owlspots | warrior Stagleap is built on the larger side of the scale, stood at a rather impressive height, but he is more lean than muscular. His thick fur is a dusty shade of brown with faint, slightly darker tabby markings, and he has bright green eyes. He has a white stomach, chest, tail-tip and hind legs, but only the toes on his front paws are white. He's mostly of the 'glass-half-full' mindset, being a cheery and optimistic young warrior who is by no means a stranger to conversation. He is extroverted and sociable and often runs away with himself when he's talking, frequently rambling off on a tangent. As a considerably handsome tom, he can be quite the flirt when talking to others, and this sometimes leads a lot of cats to think that he is fond of stringing others along as he behaves like this with practically everybody. He also has a rather silly sense of humour, but he has a good heart.
(Gonna make another warrior to get back into the swing of things! I hope everybody else comes back soon)

Palethrush | 37 moons | She-cat | Bisexual | ✵ℓσѕт gιяℓ✵| Deputy She is a short haired diluted she-cat with light green eyes. Her fur is usually kept soft and neatly groomed, it's a pride of hers. She has a scar on her left shoulder from a scuffle she had as an apprentice, she got a little too rough and learned her lesson. She used to be overly hot headed but now as seemed to mellow out a bit more, tending to think about her words now. This changed seemed to happen around the time her younger sibling, Jaggedpaw was born. She tries to be a good role model for him since their mother, Willowleaf, passed. She does have her moments though where her old side shows up, where she snaps and her anger takes over. She looks up their leader a lot, as though he's a second mentor for her.
Palethrush walked into the camp after the hunting patrol she had just been on. She felt a sense of pride wash over her as she marched through the camp with her squirrel, the fattest one she could find, clamped tightly in her jaw. She sat it down on the top of the fresh kill pile and sent a look towards the leader's den, hoping he would spot her catch. When it seemed like he wouldn't be coming out anytime soon, she retreated back to the warrior's den, tail tucked between her legs. She found her nest tucked in the far corner and collapsed inside of it, closing her eyes. Tomorrow is a new dawn. Jaggedpaw | 7 moons | Tom | Hetersexual | ✵ℓσѕт gιяℓ✵ | Apprentice Jaggedpaw is a calico tom with green eyes much like his sisters. Unlike her, he doesn't keep his short fur as neatly groomed. He is also more happy-go-lucky type of guy. He also likes to just go with the flow of things. He rarely gets angry and tends to try and find solutions besides fighting with others. He tends to get lost in his own mind a lot, trailing off or getting distracted by whatever is nearest to him. He's been like this since he was a tiny kit and it seems like he isn't growing out of it any time soon despite the pleas of the cats around him. He does, however, try his hardest when it comes to the task given to him. He doesn't know why he can't focus very well.
{Palethrush might have a weird crush on the leader? But idk yet? }

(Hi folks!)
Finchwhisker | 78 moons | Tom | Pansexual | SmugGull | Senior Warrior Finchwhisker is a brown tabby tom with a white muzzle, throat, and chest, as well as one white paw. His eyes are a sharp, bright green and rarely miss anything. He is a stern, capable, no-nonsense warrior with a cutting sense of humor that often leaves victims in its wake. As an apprentice, he was popular for his cutting tongue - as a warrior, he earned respect for his prowess as a hunter. However, he has few actual friends - most of those he grew up with are either retired or dead - and often finds himself feeling deeply lonely. He has two much younger siblings, Wasptail and Ternsong.
Riverfrost | 26 moons | Tom | Homosexual | SmugGull | Warrior A small, slender blue ticked tabby tom with wide-set yellow eyes. Born to Moorclaw and Stormtail in a litter of one and orphaned after a severe outbreak of greencough, Riverleaf is driven to make the parents he never knew proud of him. However, he shows no great skill for either hunting or fighting. He is, however, very intelligent and has a natural inclination towards leadership and teaching. He enjoys spending time with the kits and apprentices and is always happy to answer their questions.
Larchclaw | 40 moons | She-cat | Bisexual | SmugGull | Warrior Larchclaw is a lilac she-cat with a thick, luxurious pelt, a triangular face, and yellow eyes. She is quite proud of both her appearance and her prowess as a fighter and is quite temperamental, ready to answer insult with insult. Age has not tempered her in the slightest - if anything, its made her sharper. Larchclaw is the type to have many acquaintances and few friends, preferring to take her meals alone and win her battles by her own merits.

Leopardstar padded through the entrance tunnel with the strange black and white outsider behind him. "This is where we live," he explained briefly, glancing over his shoulder to take in the young tom's awe-struck expression. The leader rolled his eyes and shook his head, then began to move once more. "Come on, then, we can talk in my den." As he pushed through the entrance to his den, Leopardstar was surprised to find his deputy inside. "Oh, Palethrush. I, uh, brought a guest." The silver tom stepped aside to reveal Sylvester, in all his oblivious glory.
