"Of course," Larchclaw meowed unenthusiastically. Hunting wasn't her strong suit - it never had been. Frankly, she would have been much happier to go on the border patrol and let Finchwhisker (Finchwhisker, really? He was so old he couldn't intimidate anything bigger than a fish) deal with the hunting - but orders, unfortunately, were orders.
So she dipped her head curtly and looked around, prepared to flounce off in the direction of the nearest warrior.

Riverfrost had been on the verge of dozing off in a secluded patch of sunlight when he saw Thistlekit dart out of the nursery. He watched the young kit for a few moments, a purr rising in his throat, before he got to his feet - Kestrelwind was probably sleeping at the moment, but when she woke up it would be best if someone, at least, had eyes on Thistlekit.
He trotted over easily. "Thistlekit!" he meowed. "I see you're awake. Looking for anyone specific?"

Riverfrost blinked. "The...cat? No, I must have missed it." He purred along with Thistlekit's comment, but privately he was worried. If a cat living on their own could hunt well enough to get fat...
The idea of the stranger being a kittypet or a member of a larger group didn't occur to him until a few moments later. "Leopardstar will say something if it's important," he figured, sweeping his tail around his paws. Dewpaw was nowhere in sight — Riverfrost was planning on taking his apprentice out for a hunting lesson, but he figured he could take a moment to talk to Thistlekit.

Dewpaw hesitantly poked his head out of the apprentices' den. He had wanted to leave earlier, but the strange cat's presence in camp had made him quickly change his mind. Fortunately none of his denmates had popped in to see him cowering in a corner, so at least there was that, he supposed. As far as he could tell, Leopardstar and Palethrush had returned to camp with Larchclaw and without the strange cat, which made him feel much more at ease. He wondered momentarily where his mentor could be but was relieved to see Riverfrost talking to Thistlekit on the other side of camp.

Riverfrost brightened as he saw Dewpaw peering out of the apprentice's den. He waved his apprentice over before turning back to address Thistlekit. "Another time," he promised warmly. "For now, I need to teach Dewpaw - but I promise we'll tell you everything later."
Thistlekit was a pawful, sure, but he and Dewpaw had been denmates - and Kestrelwind had basically raised Dewpaw after Doeblossom's death. He was sure that Thistlekit would be good for the timid apprentice...in small doses.

Dewpaw nodded, a small smile making its way onto his face. Although Thistlekit wasn't his kin by blood, Kestrelwind had raised him as though she had given birth to him herself, and if anybody ever asked, he would tell them proudly that Thistlekit was his younger brother. "I won't go easy on you, just because you're still a kit!" he giggled, his tail-tip twitching happily. He probably wouldn't even have to, considering Thistlekit was nearly as big as he was. He looked up at Riverfrost, forced to crane his head all the way up to make eye contact with his mentor. "Uh, what- what are we doing today?" he questioned, his voice hardly above a whisper.

Riverfrost purred as Dewpaw and Thistlekit interacted. "Hunting lesson," he meowed, in response to Dewpaw's question. "Down by the river - I thought we could try Fox Tail Island today." He nudged his apprentice gently. "It took me forever to get the hang of fishing as an apprentice - better if we start early," he purred with amusement.
He meowed a goodbye to Thistlekit, promising to tell him if they saw anything interesting, and led Dewpaw out of camp and towards Fox Tail Island.

Larchclaw cast a sulky glance over the camp. Her eyes landed on Stagleap - he had an apprentice around camp somewhere (Jaggedpaw? She was pretty sure it was Jaggedpaw) - but she didn't see any sign of them. She padded over, flicking her tail. "Leopardstar wants a fishing patrol," she said, not bothering to hide her boredom. Sure, fishing was acceptable, but it was hardly exciting. And she couldn't figure out what was going on if she was stuck to the riverbanks. "Out near the Ancient Oak, apparently. You could bring Jaggedpaw," she suggested.

Goldengaze | 14 moons | She-cat | Lesbian | grasslands | Warrior
Goldengaze and her brother Ivycloud are freshly-graduated apprentices, still very young and inexperienced as warriors. However, that doesn't stop Goldengaze from having a fiery personality! She tends to start quarrels and get very defensive very easily, with her brother being the one it falls on to hold her back from spitting insults. However, she doesn't hold a grudge and knows when to apologize. She tends to lose her composure in frustrating or daunting situations, and is prone to anger and panic very easily. But she is surprisingly good at talk and can weasel her way out of any situation required. Goldengaze knows how to bring out the fun in life and could be considered overly playful. She is a dark brown tabby with black stripes and darkened markings, and her toes and chest are white. She has bright golden eyes and large ears. Her fur is fluffy and tufts out in several areas.
Ivycloud | 14 moons | Tom | Bisexual | grasslands | Warrior
Ivycloud is small and fluffy, still yet to grow out of the scrawny size of an apprentice. However, he acts much more mature than one, being very naturally observant and even shy. He's overly polite around others but can also be curt and a smart aleck. He's kind of awkward in the sense that he tries to be nice a lot of the time but has difficulty talking. He is an excellent strategist but less so on communicating with his clanmates, and will often stray off in the middle of a patrol to do his own thing, much to the exasperation of others. Ivycloud is a dark lilac-colored tabby, with brown markings and a white underbelly. He has black around his eyes and on the tip of his tufted tail, and his belly and paws are white. His eyes are bright and gold just like his sisters.
Cloudstep | 37 moons | She-cat | Bisexual | grasslands | Queen
Cloudstep is very skittish by nature; despite being a seasoned warrior, she's always only been good at hunting, often losing her composure and having to rely on others to save her tail. In fact, her graduation from apprentice to warrior was delayed by three moons due to her failing the mock battle on her assessment. However, Cloudstep has a very warm and kind heart, and a naturally reassuring presence that is sure to soothe even the most uptight of warriors. She excels at talking to cats and giving her clanmates advice, even if her reputation as a coward proceeds her. She is a white cat with thick, fluffy fur and a long, sweeping tail. Her paws and one of her ears are black, and her eyes are green. She is expecting three kits, and they are due soon!
RP SAMPLE: Cloudpaw breathes in heavily, the crisp and cold winter air invigorating her senses. She squeezes her eyes shut softly and forces the fur on her shoulders to lay flat, exhaling. This is your moment, Cloudpaw, she thinks to herself, opening her green eyes and furrowing her brow at the cat in front of her. He's an older warrior, a reddish tabby tom, one who she hadn't trained with before. He lashes his tail and with a kick of his hind legs springs forward, rolling onto her and pinning her onto the ground. She kicks up furiously, rolling him off of her and springing back, her tail spiking up and a low hiss escaping her. Doing good so far! she reassures herself, but the tabby is back on his feet, darting across the clearing and towards her. She rears back to lash out with her front paws but he kicks her hind legs out from under her, and she flails while falling on her back. The tom steps over her but she bats out with a paw and strikes him in the throat, causing him to back up and cough loudly. She shudders. (Dawn.)
(cloudsteps mate & two of her three kits are open positions!)

Stagleap looked up as Larchclaw approached, a little startled by the older warrior's rather deadpan tone. "Uh, yeah, sure!" he mewed, nodding enthusiastically - it was not often he was approached for anything, let alone for any kind of patrol; he was usually just drafted in by Palethrush. Come to think of it, he hadn't seen Jaggedpaw all day. He scanned the camp, frowning slightly, wondering where the calico tom could have gotten to.

Dewpaw waved goodbye to Thistlekit with a rapid movement of his tail and trotted after Riverfrost, almost breaking into a run to keep up with the larger tom. He was, to say the least, apprehensive about learning to fish - the water made him nervous, and he'd convinced himself that because he was so small the current would easily drag him away if he set so much as a paw wrong. "The water's not...deep, right?" he asked, his voice small.

Stagleap spun around at the sound of a twig snapping, ears pricked. At the sight of Jaggedpaw attempting to sneak up behind him he purred, the noise rumbling in his chest. "You did well!" he encouraged, greeting the young calico tom with a brief touch of his nose against his ear, "You'll get better with practice." He glanced over his shoulder at Larchclaw, who stood still behind him. "Are you up for some fishing practice? We're going out with Larchclaw." Stagleap himself was a horrible fisher, and he wasn't quite sure how he was going to teach his apprentice how to do something that he was abysmal at, but he hoped that watching the other warriors would help Jaggedpaw.

Stagleap purred, watching his apprentice jump around with a fond smile on his face. Jaggedpaw reminded him vividly of himself during his own apprenticeship, and Stagleap enjoyed training such an enthusiastic young cat who he got along with well - he was convinced that Jaggedpaw would make an excellent warrior in time. "I bet you'll be great at fishing," he mewed, eyes sparking to mirror Jaggedpaw's excitement, "you'll be miles better than me!" He flashed his apprentice a broad grin before looking back at Larchclaw.
